2 Combo: Charbroiled Fish Taco and Carne Asada Taco
    Annie Y.

There are plenty of parking spaces. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the 2 taco combo (Charbroiled Taco and Carne Asada Taco) and it comes with choice of pinto or black beans with side of rice. They also have a mini sauce bar where you can chose your sauces, cilantro, lime, etc. The Charbroiled Taco was a fish taco and was delicious. The Carne Asada Taco was okay compared to the Charbroiled Taco, but still good as well. The rice was lightly salted, but I squeezed lime into it, so it tasted better. The black beans were good too. Recommendation(s): - Charbroiled Taco - Carne Asada Taco Service: 5/5 Tip(s): - Order first - Plenty of parking spaces - Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating - Accept Apple Pay - 2 restrooms

Baja Fish Tacos is one of those dependable spots that always seems busy, and for good reason. Located in a small strip mall within a larger plaza, there's plenty of parking, and the restaurant is clean with ample indoor and outdoor seating. It's an order-at-the-counter concept, but service is fast and the food is brought to your table. The salsa bar is a nice bonus with several fresh options. We ordered the carne asada burrito combo with white rice and black beans, and the burrito was huge, packed with flavorful meat, and easily enough for two meals. We also had the Ensenada-style fish taco and carne asada enchilada combo with white rice and pinto beans. Everything tasted fresh, portions were generous, and the quality was consistent. A solid go-to for fresh, satisfying Mexican food that delivers every time.

    Nachos!

Baja Fish Tacos never disappoints. I come here often, and every dish I've tried has been consistently delicious. Today I went with the nachos, and they were everything I hoped for -- a generous portion loaded with cheese and perfect for customizing at their excellent salsa bar. The pico de gallo, red salsa, and marinated onions are my must‑haves. The restaurant is clean and welcoming, with plenty of seating inside and out. Even though it was packed when we walked in, the staff kept things moving. Our order was taken promptly, and the food arrived without much of a wait. Great food, great service, and always worth the visit.

I love their Ensenada Style Tacos here. It's a great place for lunch. The service is always great and they deliver top quality every single time. Inside the restaurant they have television screens, beer, a salsa and condiment bar (so good). Outside is if you want more sun, they do have umbrellas so they make it very convenient for everyone. If I could eat here every day, I would ;)

I was hungry and saw this restaurant and went inside to check it out. It was similar to a Baja Fresh but better. I ordered a fish burrito with pinto beans, rice, and guacamole and I loved it. The fish was blackened so it gave the burrito a nice savory taste with a little bit of spice. Service was good but the clerk was a little forgetful when we received our order. She had forgotten to give us our sides' sauces we paid for and sour cream. Other than that she did a great job with the order. Nice place with a cool vibe. Easy parking is located in front of the restaurant. Prices were decent and the quality of the food ingredients was excellent. The The bathroom was clean but full of water on the floor which made it dangerous to walk. Other than that, I will dine here again if I am in the area and try more food items.

Second time here and it did not disappoint! Tacos are made fresh and you can taste it! The ribeye taco was tender, juicy, and so flavorful. The guacamole was fresh and light. Service is quick and super friendly. Inside was clean and there's tables inside and out.

I stopped by randomly on a Wednesday lunch hour to try this place out. This place was busy but chill inside. The guy taking my order was friendly from the start. The tacos were really good and so was the salsa. I give a B+ grade for overall and I will be back soon for more!

Saddest $8 taco of all time

This place used to be great. They are starting to cut corners and make everything worse. They discontinued the incredible blackened chicken. The new chicken is dry and unseasoned. I got a special of the day taco for $8 and it was a single piece of unsalted unmarinated steak. Nothing on it no flavor. The worst taco I have ever had in my life. R.I.P. to one of my favorite spots

TL;DR - best Baja style Mexican food. Forget the other chains, this is the one! I ordered the shrimp tacos with white rice and black beans. It took every ounce of my being not to finish the whole plate. The shrimp are succulent and cooked in butter; the white rice is flavorful; the black beans were saucey with every bite. I'm a big fan of their salsa bar. My favorite is the green salsa and the marinated onions. I put those onions on everything! It's a fast casual place where you order at the counter, get your number, and take a seat. Servers will bring the food to your table. Service is friendly. Tons of parking in the lot. I'd probably eat here once a week if I lived closer.

Came on a Tuesday and it was already busy at around 5:30pm, though the space is huge so no issues finding a table. We ordered the shrimp and Ensenada (fried fish) tacos, along with a side of chips & salsa. Chips were served fresh and warm, salsa was self serve at the salsa bar. We took a number to our table and the food was served shortly after. The Ensenada was okay in flavor, most of which came from the 1 sauce drizzled over but the fish was slightly dry. The shrimp taco was better with more sauces, some cheese & flavor to the taco overall, but after getting to the shrimp itself, it started tasted like plain unseasoned shrimp. Shrimp was cooked well and portion was decent but I was hoping for a bit more out of the over $8 single taco.

$23 Baja Salad with 6oz of meat. NOT !!!!

I was lucky enough to stumble across this gem of the center of OC when they first opened - and I am proud to be a regular here. I don't know how to go somewhere else - because I feel like the staff are giant gems in this jewel of a spot. Winters is a curator of boozy information that has helped me learn about "gin" and "root beer whiskey" so I can sound like an adult-ish purveyor, when really I know close to nothing except being a willing student to his creations. Dan the Man and Jacob always see me raise my hand in the corner of the bar, like the student I am, and have been willing to fill in the blanks for me when I know I am of thirst, but do not have the words for what to order. Every person working in the well has treated me with kindness - they have taken the time to get to know me, and I will be forever appreciative of how they have taken care of me over the years. But the real joy has been the transformation that this spot has for building a community of people in Santa Ana for real recognizing real. I have been bringing my Dad with me to play pool for the past few years. Sometimes people ask me if he plays professionally, I am terrible, and my skill incline is slow, he is patient and plays with the same level craftiness that the staff offer the cocktails. My Dad is always stoked when we have time to go have a few hours of games at 616 - especially now that there are regulars on 4th street that are excited to see that he is there playing - and they rush to write their names on the chalkboard to challenge him - or beat him in a game they really earned the W. On lazy Sundays, I watch couples sit with their drink, listening to Jazz, and watching my Dad whoop my ass while making amazing shots. I am forever grateful to Memo who sometimes takes a break from his shift behind the bar to give my dad an actual challenge - which allows me the chance to watch my Dad enjoy fellowship around the table. Knowing the table was a relic of the bars former self, and knowing the history that this spot has in Santa Ana is a reminder that so much around us can change - but it is those moments of the crack of the rack, the cheer of getting the combo shot, and the shake of hands when it's over that shows that it's not just about the pool table - but about the energy of a place that is welcoming and curated by people who care about what they do - and care about who comes through their doors. Thank you Jason and Mike B to bringing this to 4th St and supporting the community that was already here - and for building a community for the future. Thank you to Christina and Brandon for always having amazing pictures, decor, and fun events at 616 that help introduce new folks into this great spot. Time is short. Learn about Root Beer Whiskey. From the sign as you enter, through the teeth, to the throaty-red textured walls, The Belly of the Beast encases guests in the whimsical journey down the whale's gullet. Who knew getting "swallowed" would be such fun? Keeping with the throaty theme, the space inside holds a few tables. It's an intimate space with ambient lighting and cheery Hawaiian/beach music. Puppets hang here and there, as well as other thematic, decorative details. My friend and I shared a few mouthwatering apps and imbibed a few delicious concoctions. Our wonderful bartender frim "outside" even came in with us, which made our experience even more personalized. We especially appreciated the complimentary shots! Our food was delicious and plentiful for apps: spam musubi, edamame, sliders, and shishito peppers. Now this is a big deal: my friend has celiac disease. She needs to be very cautious when ordering food. She self-advocates but much relies on the knowledge of servers. Our wonderful bartender, now our server, was very diligent and knowledgeable, and double checked ingredients with the chefs. Accommodations were made. Good times rolled on! Extra heaps of thanks on that! We fully enjoyed every minute of our (generous+) 90 minute time slot here. The service was amazing, the food delicious, and the cocktails made with magic. This was our first time to TBotB, so we're went sure what to expect, but we've been to Stowaway many times. The only knock I had with it was the selection of cocktails is limited. While I understand TBotB is it's own thing separate from Stowaway, I wish you could get some of the drinks from there. Most of the cocktails we had were good (but I'm not sure I'd order them again), but the menu had a number of drinks I won't order, they're just not my style. We missed being able to get some of our favorites from Stowaway. We ended up getting a table at Stowaway after our time was up in TBotB anyway because we were having a good time so that was fun. All in all, I think next time we'll stick with Stowaway and sitting at the bar. At least we can check TBotB off our list. It's worth checking out for sure, but for me I enjoy the more classic tiki cocktails. It's fun to venture off the beaten path once in a while.

We were lucky and found a parking space on Bush St. We both ordered the Classic Hammer Burger ($10) and a regular order of shoestring fries. I was surprised at how busy they were. The burgers come out fresh and hot. They are smashed thin and have a crispy edge. The slice of cheese is perfectly melted. There are grilled onions at the bottom of the burger and the top is dressed with thick cut pickles and a decorative drizzle of Hammer Sauce. One of the things I like most about this burger is the overall texture and the proportions of beef to the steamed potato bun. It's soft and melty and delicious. The fries are great too (thin and crispy) and they have a nice selection of house sauces. Their signature Hammer Sauce, White BBQ sauce, Garlic Sauce, Chipotle Mayo, Jalapeño Ranch and Ranch. I went around the world and tried every one. Customizing your sauce by mixing a few together is not a bad idea and likely a veteran move. I have had their sweet potato fries before and they are above average. I have also had their chili cheese fries and a cup of chili...not bad. Their Flatty Melt ($11) was the first burger I tried when going the first time. Unique and tasty. I've also had Spicy Smash ($11) that has a pile of grilled jalapeño's on top. It's hot so be prepared. They have a nice selection of beers but I haven't gone down that road yet. Lunch was so good, I bought my son-in-law a $75 gift certificate. The downtown area has really be revitalized and now it's fun to walk around.

Despite our 15 minute drive home, the food was still warm and really delicious. The burger had good flavor with and without their house sauce. The chili cheese fries were skinny fries with a cheese sauce and bean-less chili. The chili was filling and had a little kick to it. The batter-fried onion rings were (still) crispy and yummy with both ranch and the house sauce. We will definitely be back to fill our smashburger and chili cheese fries cravings!
