I usually go to Santa Ana location but happened to be nearby. Saturday dinner and plenty of seating inside and outside. Ordered 2 taco combo and shrimp taquitos. 2 tacos come with rice and beans. Chicken is cubed breast meat and seasoned well. Rice is also seasoned, and delicious. Shrimp taquitos was basically shrimp wrapped with corn tortillas, with slaw on top. Solid restaurant that serves fresh and healthy food. I love that they have a salsa bar that you can stock up on various salsas whether you're eating there or taking out. Service is fast and friendly, and they have an order ahead option on their site as well. I normally get the Baja bowl with chicken or steak, but their salads and tacos aren't bad either. I think the food could be a little bit more seasoned, which is why I'm giving this spot a 4 vs 5 stars (I'd give them 4.5 stars if I could). Today is the end of an era! Sad day for Baja fish tacos as the one thing that my friend and I absolutely loved was the Bravo chicken, "blackened chicken" everything , is no more. Why Baja, why? Maybe it's the way it was labeled, "Bravo Chicken", and no one knew what that was, but we did and for over a decade that delicious paprika, black pepper herbs and spices tickled our tongues that made you want to dance while you ate it. Oh and did I mention the fixins that were added? It wasn't your basic lettuce and cheese, it was cabbage and cilantro with pico that mixed together that made your taste buds sing for joy in your mouth and makes your pallete overjoyed. I can't completely boycott because the rest of the menu slaps but that blackened chicken was on a whole other level. Hopefully, Julio G is reading this and hearing my plea that we want it back and the slightest suggestion of just changing the name so that the chicken gets as big of a hype as the fish does. I have had takeout from here twice and neither experience has been very good. Not gunna lie we were pretty disappointed with the service and quality of the food today. My husband ordered a burrito with rice and beans and added sour cream, I got a shrimp bowl. Been going to Baja Fish Tacos since the early 2000's and the consistency with their quality and taste has not changed not even by location. I have visited all locations and all are superb. I typically order the fish tacos Ensenada Style and add cheese to them. Their rice is amazing and look forward to it every time as well as their black beans. Their menu is short and simple, consisting of tacos or enchiladas, either ala carte or on a plate with rice & beans. You order at the counter and they deliver your food. I just got a couple of carne asada tacos and a Coke. The tacos were good; pieces of tender grilled beef on a small tortilla and surrounded by all the good stuff you expect in a taco. The quantity is there and I leave full every time. I love their Salsas and Pickled Onions too. They make fresh chips and Guacamole (one of my favorite guacs). Their tacos aren't anything to rave about, but everything else is on point! They recently starting advertising Shrimp Taquitos, so I had to try those. I actually liked them a lot, but if I'm hungry, I'm getting the pate. Service is great, but nothing to go above and beyond. Food comes out in a timely manner and the people at the register are nice. The restaurant has huge TVs on the corners so no matter where you sit, you can still see it. Love that we have this location close by versus driving to Santa Ana. Staff is always attentive and we tend to take items to go to due to kiddos. Everything has always come out perfect. I love their shrimp tacos, green salad (cilantro dressing) and their chicken soup (new add). My only minor issues I would say is I wish they did not have to go containers that are hard plastic containers.
