I have been coming to this restaurant in this same location since 1985. Over the years it has grown and been redecorated a few times. One thing that stays the same is the owner Nick & the excellent Mexican food. Everything Ive ever has which is most of the menu is excellent. My personal favorites are the Chile Verde plate, Cheese Enchiladas and the Ceviche must be the best in Southern California! Thank you Nick for over 40 years of great meals!! The location is very close to the Orange Circle. Which is a nice place to walk after filling up on the amazing dishes they serve.

Had the shrimp ceviche and shrimp tacos today and they were both DELICIOUS! The ceviche is perfect for this hot weather, do yourself a favor and order extra to go

I have had pleasant visits each time I visit here. Chips, salsa and cervezas to start and tostados, tacos and enchiladas to end. There's always great service, good food at a fair price. If you like shrimp, try the Gobernador....yummy. Parking right in back with indoor and outdoor patio seating. Check them out

Talk about hidden gems! This place is IT! I was craving good seafood and my husband found this place. I ordered the mojarra al mojo de ajo and it was exactly what I hoped for. Excellent flavor and crunch in every bit. Comes with beans and rice but I totally could have had the mojarra on its on because it was that good. I also tried their shrimp ceviche and it was so delicious and the perfect botana on a hot day. Spice level on the ceviche was on point! Their margaritas paired well the meals and I highly recommend you try the mango one. This is definitely my new go to for authentic Mexican antojitos. I found out this place has been here for over 40 years!! You gotta try it.

    Sad excuse for a Quesadilla!!

I will say the Service was great ,BUT the beef Quesadilla was Terrible !! the beef was nothing but grizzle fat , and super greasy nasty burnt grill tast , very dissatisfied with it , could not even eat it .... and it came with no sides, no sour cream, no guacamole, and some old brown lettuce, AND over 15 dollars !!!! Crazy ! I know times a rough but come on!!!!! this place has been here for years, and you can't make a good Quesadilla for almost 20 bucks !!!

The food here is amazing, the workers are very nice and friendly too! I enjoy the enchiladas here they are very delicious. If you're looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant this is the place. The place is very clean and has amazing artwork.

Really good Mexican food tonight at a new restaurant for dinner. I had two chicken street tacos and two chicken enchiladas with guacamole. The guacamole is good but it had to much chopped tomatoes in it which waters it down and takes away from the natural good taste of the avocado. Ice tea is great here and the service is polite but very slow. Chips are warm and light. They do shrimp and ceviche here many ways.

The food we ordered was really tasty! My husband and I shared the Molcajete de Mariscos & Molcajete Moreliano. Spicy and delicious. Came with a side of rice, beans, and flour tortillas. We came on a Saturday around 8:30pm and it wasn't busy so we were kind of unsure of how it would be but I'm glad we stayed! My only negative comment is that there's no lock on the bathroom door, and I wish they had more/better adult beverage options like Margaritas, etc. We'll definitely be back again!

Just got home from trying out this place for the 1st time. We always pass by it & it's one of those " We have to try it". It was calm not many people and just chill for a Sunday evening. Service was fast & very good. My husband & I been to a few places for Siete Mares & never had it this good. I had a Shrimp Cocktail with a Modelo Michi. My husband is the type of man who will not take food home. We are here to eat so eat but today he made an exception because the food was so delicious. He knew that he would regret it if he left it. We also got chicken nuggets & fries for our grandson. We will be coming here soon with my in laws.

    Micheladas

I ordered the Chile rellanos with green salsa on the side it was so delicious. And the michelada was perfect, I like when restaurants give you the michie mix and then give you the beer on the side to make sure they don't skimp you on the beer! You only get one complimentary basket of chips. $1.50 for another basket. The green salsa is better than the red!! Spicy and flavorful.

This is shrimp ceviche cocido en limon and over the years this place is not the same look at the presentation

I ordered the same meal, the veggie tacos, and they were nowhere near as good as the first time. After staying away for a long while, we decided to give Gabbys another shot, but once again the food was underwhelming. This place just seems very inconsistent, and the service was mediocre at best. My wife ordered a steak burrito, and when the food arrived, the burrito had no meat in it at all. She had to send it back. It's hard to understand how a steak burrito goes out without steak. It also feels like everything is pre-batched, which takes away from the quality and freshness. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, I personally would not recommend this place. The food feels very Americanized and lacks the traditional flavor and quality you'd expect from authentic Mexican cuisine.

The beans did not taste watered down, and the enchiladas themselves were flavorful. I always worry about shrimp overpowering the sides of a dish but it tasted great. The rice was also really filling. We had a reservation and they seated us at a pretty big table, which I liked. The servers were very timely, kind, and knowledgeable about each dish on the menu and the rotating specials. The inside of the restaurant was HUGE. I'm pretty sure it was built inside of a church. I really liked the stained glass and elevated seating areas nearby, it reminded me of the Old Spaghetti Factory layout in Fullerton. Overall, I had a very positive experience. I had to get a Diet Coke and of course, it was crisp to my expectations. A little heads-up, unlike the Costa Mesa location, they do not have horchata. Nevertheless, I'd come here again to try their burritos, tostadas, and salads!

When we got there, I let the server know but it didn't seem to matter because he didn't ask my name or time, he just seated us. That works for me! Glad we didn't have to wait, we had to make it a fast meal! We waited about 5 minutes before we were greeted by our waitress. I had seen they had just started serving the soft serve margaritas on their IG and I was SUPER excited to order one! I asked our waitress (Rosie) what flavors were available and she had to ask someone else. Ok, no worries, they had mango and strawberry. I asked for a swirl. My husband ordered a shot of patron anejo sherry cask. She did not seem to understand what he was asking for even though it was an item listed on the menu. He repeated himself a couple times and even pointed to it on the menu before she said "I'll have to check with the bar" she took the rest of our order which consisted of another cocktail, the empanadas, and an order of enchiladas. She left for a bit and came back saying they had his tequila. Then another waitress came back a few moments later asking how he wanted his tequila. After our order was in, we received our chips and salsa. The salsa was delicious! Not too long after, my empanadas came out and they were overdone. Burnt. The pastry was bitter, but not just because it was overcooked, but because it seems like the oil was old. The filling wasn't what I was expecting, but it was tasty. My husband's enchiladas were good. I had one bite. After our meal, husband ordered one more cocktail and the dessert chimichanga. Same bitter oil taste on the chimichanga, I wasn't a fan. When we were brought the check, it turns out we were overcharged for the tequila. We brought it up to the waitress and she told him he ordered a different one when he had repeated "patron anejo sherry cask" to her multiple times. I don't even know if there's more than one sherry cask tequila on the menu! Anyway, she was able to adjust the bill to charge us for the correct tequila but the husband still didn't get to drink the tequila he wanted. Oh well.

The carnitas themselves are the star--tender, juicy pork that's been slow-cooked to perfection with that signature crispy edge on some pieces, delivering rich, savory flavor without being overly greasy. It's seasoned just right, with a nice balance of porky goodness and subtle spices that let the meat shine. Wrapped in a large, fresh flour tortilla (they make their own in-house, which always helps), it's stuffed generously with the classics: fluffy Mexican rice, creamy refried or whole beans (depending on your preference, but both work great), chopped onions, cilantro, and a solid dose of salsa. I went with their green salsa for a bright, tangy kick that cuts through the richness perfectly, plus a dollop of sour cream and cheese for that creamy melt. No skimping on portions here--it's hearty and filling, easily a meal that satisfies for hours. At around $10 (give or take, based on current pricing), it's a great value in the area. The burrito holds together well without falling apart mid-bite, and the overall balance of textures--tender meat, soft rice/beans, crisp onions--makes every mouthful enjoyable. If you're in the mood for classic carnitas done right in a casual, bakery-taqueria spot with great salsas and a friendly vibe, this one's definitely worth grabbing. I'd rate it 4.5 out of 5--only docking half a point because it's not reinventing the wheel, but it's executing the traditional style exceptionally well. Highly recommend if you're near 728 N Tustin St in Orange! Pair it with an horchata, yum
