Consistent quality Mexican food with great service. Hope they stay in business for a long time.

So - I have been a customer of Baja Fresh for over 20 years so not my first visit. We went to the location off Daily Sunday, April 12th at around 12pm. Store was not busy and our order was taken promptly. I ordered a Steak Bowl, my husband ordered the Grilled Citrus Shrimp Burrito. When we were called for pick up we saw that instead of the Shrimp Burrito, we were given a Shrimp Bowl. The cashier did turn to ask for it to be remade but rather than waste the staff's time or waste the food, we said it was Ok and asked if we could simply have a tortilla so we could wrap it ourselves. The cashier told us it would be $2. Mind you, we spent $35 on the meal and given that the error was 100% on the store, we would have expected an apology and single tortilla. Nope. Shrimp were good, my "steak" bowl was awful. Instead of steak I received some balls of grayish looking meat with the consistency of cheap hamburger and no flavor. Taco Bell has better steak. I did not finish my meal. When we went to sit down, a pile of dirt with a broom was in the middle of the floor. I swept it up and moved the broom out of the way so no one would trip on it. Absolutely horrible experience here. I sent my husband for fish tacos because I wanted to have one last meal before heading to the hospital to have my baby and when he came back with the tacos there was no sauce on the tacos!!!! He called requesting if we could get our order remade another day as I am currently in the hospital to have our baby and instead THE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGER offered us a free side of sauce the next time we come in and denied remaking our order another day! Absolutely unacceptable and I hope that she learns professionalism one day, because managing a food chain with that attitude is going to make the business fail. Do better!!!! read more

Ordered takeout from Baja Fresh tonight! I haven't had it in years. I got steak and chicken fajitas. The salsa that came with it had great flavor and good spice. We should've checked Yelp first.Garbage,garbage,garbage!!!! It's not the same amazing Baja Fresh from 25 years ago!! Food is bland and way expensive! Shrimp quesadilla cheese was already cold and rubbery upon delivery to our table. Steak burrito and tacos were extremely bland and the steak was light in color and didn't have the char and good flavor it used to have. I returned the shrimp quesadilla to the cashier and she didn't hesitate to return my money when I asked for it. This indicated it was a common occurrence there. If you are thinking of eating here go next door to jimmy John's,the Thai Peruvian place or the humus place! The salsa bar also very bland. read more

Wish I could give zero stars! It's horrible when the owner won't respond to my request to speak with them. I've called and spoke to a manager, I'm told my request is being forward to the owner- nothing. I was provided an email, surprise - no response there either. I placed an order online through their app (7:30pm), come to find out, they closed at 6 pm. I was notified via email at 8:40pm that my order was canceled, yet I was not refunded. I just want a refund for the food I never received. Why are you making this difficult. The manager says she can't refund me - only the owner can. Ridiculous!!!!! Went here after our outlet run. It was around 830. We know it's closing in 30 minutes. However, the cashier wants us to order to go. Why would we eat inside our car? It's like telling us, we are closing, you cannot eat here anymore. And by the way, it took us at least 5 minutes at the front before someone went to the counter. Don't go here. Very bad service!! Baja ensalada is our favorite for salads to go. Grilled Shrimp Tacos and chicken quesadillas are excellent. Ambiance inside is not comfortable. Prefer eating outside or taking home to the high bar style chairs inside. read more

Quality Baja Fresh location with friendly staff. I was visiting the area this winter for work during the week and if there is a baja fresh around I like to lunch there (just over the per diem). The location is very convenient off the freeway with plenty of parking. Pretty typical counter service kind of place with a large salsa bar and soda fountain packed in with plenty of seating in this smaller space. One of the first ten locations for this wonderful franchise. The food was always on-point in the late afternoons when I tend to lunch (2pm or so). I kept coming back for the consistency and friendliness of staff. I get a two taco plate with some modifications (no cheese, black beans, flour tortillas) and they always got it just right. Fresh ingredients are always clear, from the super juicy limes to the hot black beans stewed up. The servers and chef were quite nice, helping me practice my spanish and sharing bits about our lives. Lots of fresh food options and tasty eats from friendly staff make this a Baja Fresh to check out. read more

Ordered via the website for the other location, got this one. I get that is not their fault, but when I called, the person I spoke to was almost inarticulate. Not helpful, couldn't even tell me where they were located. He actually described the location I was at instead of their location. I drove over to get my food - and they didn't even give me a fork to eat my SIDE OF BEANS with. Did they expect me to eat pinto beans with my hands??? WTF? I won't be back. read more

The employees were nice, the food seemed fresh. However, I ordered online with very specific customizations allotted by the ordering system. I asked for no roasted veggies on one of the burritos (because my mom is very allergic to bell peppers) and there were peppers on her burrito. I also asked for my burrito with guacamole (for which I payed extra) and no guacamole. There were some other customizations not accounted for, but those two were the big ones. The receipt had the request written out for each item, but it was as if they didn't even look at them. Nothing was correct. read more

We like to try new taco places when I visit CA and of course, this being a chain, I didn't know what to expect, but with that being said, I hope the other half picks me up tacos on his way to Van Nuys to get me so I can have my favorite tacos on the way back to his house. I should have known better. My wife and I have avoided this location for a few years, but I was hungry and alone and craving a veggie burrito. In the past we have always driven past this location to the other side of town because that Baja Fresh has employees who care about customers. My mistake. I went into this store and was the only customer. My order was taken quickly, but nothing happened. There were 4 employees having a conversation at the back of the store in full view of me. After 4 or 5 minutes I walked up to the order counter , where I could be seen by the uniformed folks who glanced my way, and one of them prodded another to start my order. It took a full 10 minutes to finally get it. While I was waiting I was privy to a conversation by two employees who had come up to the front , just behind the cash register. They had their backs to me and were discussing their lives. Management of this place is a customer disaster. It's hard to believe they are still in existence. read more

Not going here again. Staff is friendly.. The food is consistent with other Baja Fresh Locations, (meaning it tastes delicious.. The bad... Location closed early on a Friday, I believe April 14th. My family parked in front of the restaurant and the kids and I were finishing up singing a tune. When that was all done and I began to take off my seatbelt, I saw about half of the lights turn off in the restaurant. Chairs were on top of the tables and three employees were cleaning. I also observed guests attempting to enter the restaurant but couldn't because the doors were locked. The posted closing time was 10PM... The current time? 7:54pm!!! So we drove somewhere else... I made the corporate office aware of the incident and the Director of Operations returned my call for more details. She assured me it was very unusual and wanted me to try the restaurant again. She even sent us two complementary meals, even though there were four of us, but hey, I really appreciated the gesture and she seemed very sincere and genuine. On the 13th, of May, we returned to the location, against the will of my significant other, who didn't think the company deserved our business but humored me because I really loved Baja Fresh. When we presented the complementary meal vouchers, we were told that the location won't accept them because they are a franchised location, not corporate owned. By the way, the voucher read we could use it at ANY location. They said as a favor, they could accept one of the vouchers. HA! We left, did not get anything. Instead we tried Sharky's and loved it!! PS, I called the Director of Operations and informed her of the recent incident. She apologized and said they were supposed to accept the vouchers. She was very sincere and I don't blame her since obviously her hands are tied. I hope the Baja Fresh brand is not on its way out as it seems clear they no longer have any effective quality controls. Franchisees seem to be able to do whatever they want. There is another Baja Fresh in town that perhaps I will be able to convince the family to try, but as of right now, I'm not allowed to spend a dime there. lol read more

This was definitely the smallest Baja Fresh I have ever been to, I didn't love it. You go through swinging kitchen doors to get to the restroom and see the back kitchen along the way, which seemed odd. I love a good bean and cheese burrito, but when the cheese is not melted on the inside, it's just not the same. They happily made me a new one, but I feel like that's a science they should have mastered at this point. Unfortunately, this location (outside of customer service) lost on every level. read more

The cashier was rude and refused to take our order. She said they only had beans and rice, when the male cook kept telling her there was chicken and steak. When we decided to leave they were laughing. If they were in a hurry to leave home, I would think they should have been cleaning, I stead they were talking and laughing. would not recommend and this will be my first and last time going there. read more

On August 26 2021, I ordered an order of nachos - without meat and a small lemonade. The charge was around $11.11 and the woman asked me if I wanted a receipt. I said "no" thinking it was unnecessary. I just discovered that I was charged $54.63!!! This is outright theft in my opinion. I guess no matter where I shop I need to get a receipt so I won't be cheated. Watch your step at this place. read more

I'll never go back to this store again. It used to have excellent service years ago but it is definitely not now in my experience. I ordered a Shrimp Baja Burrito Enchilada-style and two Grilled Shrimp tacos tonight for take-out. I was not given a receipt. When I got home I discovered that they gave me two Grilled Fish Tacos instead of the shrimp I had ordered. I took the fish tacos back but they were closing so I didn't receive the shrimp tacos. I observed the staff making other mistakes tonight besides mine - a customer before me had waited 30 minutes for his order but couldn't accept it because it had sour cream on it which he had specifically ordered without due to an allergy (he left without any food because he couldn't wait any longer). In another case the staff was talking how they had given only a partial order to a customer but the order wasn't complete because the quesadilla wasn't ready yet (the customer left without realizing they only had a part of their order). read more

I like this Baja Fresh over many others. The staff are always nice. The place is always clean. The salsa bar is always stocked, with plenty of good selections, green, red, I love their bowls, burritos, tacos you name it. Good portions. You also get chips with your purchase. I love their large cups, you get to reuse and if you bring it back you get $1 off your drink. Prices are reasonable and the food is fresh. The food is prepared quickly, not a long wait. You just try the Wahoo if you like fish, sooo yummy! read more

Healthy mexican fare! Baja Fresh-- I believed it originated somewhere near me in Thousand Oaks. The owners of the franchise believed it was necessary to have mexican food that was not frozen and healthy. Anyhoo, the food is pretty delish. I love the Baja Burritos-- it's filled with pico de gallo, guac, rice, and delish meats ( i personally love the steak but the chicken is good.. good and moist) The Salads are pretty good-- however I do wish they would add corn to the Baja Enslada. Sometimes I would take the dish home so I can open me a can of corn. The tortilla soup is a little spicy but it's do-able. Hmm.. just thinking about them makes me hungry for some Baja! read more
