Stopped by for the steak fajitas. The fajita strips were tender with a nice grilled flavor. The beans with sprinkles of cheese were a good compliment to the meat. The rice was just right. I was surprised to see this restaurant basically empty. The floors were so clean. It looked like you could eat off of them. I had first looked up this place on Google maps and the reviews were great so I decided to go. However, when I got there, and after I had already ordered, I looked it up on yelp and saw that the average of reviews was okay. I will say I absolutely enjoyed my food. I loved the salsa bar, so much variety and range of spiciness (though the hot wasn't hot in my humble Hispanic opinion). The texture of the burrito was great, sometimes some restaurants don't fully cook the tortilla. When I ordered the employee was super sweet, kind and answered my random questions. I would definitely recommend this Baja Fresh. I wish there was one closer to where I live. read more

First timer! Got a chicken fajita plate & nacho burrito combo with guacamole & chips. Just two workers but it was a slow night for them. It was pretty clean. Quick service. Love the salsa bar! Chicken fajita plate with corn tortilla. Maybe shouldve done flour tortilla but other than that it was good. Flavorful and chicken was tender! Not dry at all. Only complaint was the rice was a little dry or undercooked? 8.5/10 Chicken Nacho Burrito was massive! All the flavors went well together. Little skimpy on the sourcream to nacho cheese ratio but it was tasty! Good amount of jalapenos in it aswell. Again chicken was nice and tender. 8.5/10 aswell. Guacamole and chips went well together but if it was just the chips, you can taste it going stale. I like the molcajete salsa! Nice chunky and spice. Salsa verde was not spicy at first but the more bites you eat with it, you'll feel the heat later. It was a little on the salty side. Definitely will come again for the burritos! I love that there are great healthy food choices here that fit my schedule. I call in a "Baja Ensalada Chicken salad" it actually has Romain not iceberg lettuce. The are colors of the rainbow to meet my need for nutrients. It is ready and waiting when I get there. This is the kind of lunch you want to be in a comfort-style place to enjoy, like a park or outside dining. Well what can I say, it's a Baja Fresh. I've never had a bad experience here, staff has always been friendly, and the food is as to be expected for a Baja Fresh, decent mediocre Mexican food, a step above Taco Bell and Del Taco but not as flavorful as some taquerias would be like Establos. Although they have forgotten my churro on a couple occasions, they've never messed up an order otherwise. It not something I go out of my way for but when I'm in the area I'll stop by for a Chicken Torta. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a quick good meal, without the grease and guilt of eating fast food. What I recommend most is their churros which are the best I've had. Their queso dip and mango salsa are also a go to of mine for my snack cravings. That's this critic's review, until next time I'll be eating. read more

First and last time ever coming to Baja Fresh. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito. The price was almost $8, so I was already not super impressed by how expensive a simple bean burrito is here. I finally received the burrito after a long wait (it wasn't that busy for how long it took), only to see there was red sauce absolutely soaking my burrito. I took it back up to the counter and let them know I ordered only beans and cheese, and the worker proceeded to tell me there wasn't any sauce on it!! He really truly would not admit there was red sauce on it, even though we're both clearly looking at the red sauce on the burrito as he's telling me to my face "it's fine, and I guess I could remake it but there's nothing wrong with it so...". I just gave up and left because I didn't want to argue. So I paid $8 for a burrito I didn't eat, and got gaslighted by the employee on top of it. I'm so bummed my experienced turned out so poorly, this is a place I would have frequented since I work nearby, but never again. read more

Again the food was good but the service was lacking, needs improving, and Yolanda needs to lose the attitude and concentrate on customer service. As our group walked up (there was no one else in line) Yolanda continued to converse with her coworker clearly ignoring our group waiting to order. Generally I like the food. Last two visits the chicken tasted like fish/shrimp. I ordered the chili lime CHICKEN salad and CHICKEN & STEAK fajitas. Both entrees were fishy tasting. It appears they use the same grill to cook all proteins. My husband is allergic to fish. My husband couldn't finish it. I ate about half of my chicken salad and tossed the rest. OMG! I hadn't been into Baja Fresh in over a year and I was in the neighborhood and decided to give it a go. The best chicken torta I ever had! Filled with chicken, lettuce, tomato, cheese, sour cream. The bread was so good and toasted perfectly. Also we ordered the chicken burrito. The best chicken burrito in town! It had chicken, beans, rice, cheese, sour cream... salsas on the side and wonderful chips. I enjoyed my lunch so much that I have made this a go to place on my lunch list. I actually drive here despite being closer to the other Camarillo location because they always get my order right and are very polite.

I didn't think anyone could hold a candle to the other camarillo location in terms of how bad they are but the Verdugo location took the gold & made it a way worse experience. Congratulations you guys. I used their online ordering and wrote names just for the fun of it because nothing was labeled and then they forgot some of my food for my office which is over 20 minutes away and can't drive back fast enough to get forgotten food on a 30 minute lunch break. The best part was the fact that the food had no flavour and was basically inedible. I miss the Ventura location so much I can't see straight because realistically there is no Baja Fresh anywhere near us. read more

So this place has it all, great food, great location, great cleanliness, and service. Really had a pleasant experience here so I will be back, unfortunately it's not in my side of town so its a little bit of a hoof for me. But if you're in Camarillo and want a good little baja then check it out. Would have been 5 stars but apparently no cheese means some cheese. It looks like someone threw cheese in the burrito and tried to pick it out. Just toss it and make a new one. The receipt says no cheese I checked my online order 5 times to make sure it said no cheese and whoever makes the food can't figure out what no cheese means. I've been to different Baja Fresh restaurants around Ventura County, and all of them seem to have friendly staff. This one stands out though as the friendliest. My husband and I were meeting my mom to have a quick bite before seeing a movie. Once the cashier realized we needed to wait to order until she arrived, he offered us cups of water to drink while we waited. Once we ordered, he was still very friendly and even offered us two free sides of chips and salsa. Super nice guy! I will definitely come back. read more

I was craving nachos one day and since snapper Jacks was closed for the holiday, we settled on BF. The nachos were a lot smaller in size and the chicken tastes like it had been reheated a few times. Very rough and dry. They didn't skimp on the guacamole but it lacked flavor. My hubs ordered the trio fish taco plate to go and by the time we got to my parents home, he realized they gave him awkwardly sized chicken that was rough and charred. On Sunday 12/16 I visited the Baja Fresh in Camarillo on Verdugo Way. I ordered a Burrito Ultimo with shrimp to go. When I got home and took a few bites into it and noticed something was sharply poking me in my mouth. Low and behold, there was a stick in my burrito. It's the one they use to keep all the shrimp together when grilling them. They did not remove this and put the whole thing inside the Burrito! I've attached a picture of this. I believe people have been unfairly punishing Baja. It may have lost a little luster with time. Maybe it's not the same as when the Cooks would get up at 3AM to roast the chili's to make the Baja Salsa. The Salsas are still some of the best ever produced period! I haven't been to a Baja Fresh in years, but I've seen this location from time to time and decided to give it a try today. I ordered 1 shrimp taco and 1 breaded fish taco, with a side of pinto beans. Because I am such a picky eater, I got both tacos sans sauce, but added salsa verde, cilantro, and lime from the salsa bar to each. The employees were super nice and attentive, and even gave suggestions on what to order when I was unsure. The restaurant was clean and I got my order in a timely fashion. The shrimp taco was really, really, REALLY good. It came with cabbage in a soft tortilla. Combined with the items from the salsa bar, it was definitely the best decision I've made today. The fish taco was really good too, and again with those items from the salsa bar, it added to the experience. Between the two, I would get the shrimp taco again before the fish. The beans were okay, nothing really special and I didn't end up eating a lot of them. I recommend this place and will be back, without hesitation :) read more

I miss the original Baka Fresh!! Came in at about 3pm on a Sunday and it was very quite. Placed an order then "tried" to sit down. Almost all the tables were dirty and the floor needed to be swept from spills of foot. When we finally got our food it was cold. Not the type like it had been sitting under a heat lamp, but like how it was after sitting out for a couple hours. Sent it back and got a little warm up... I believe it was put on the grill. Not sure that is the best policy for preventing cross contamination. We were so hungry we decided to eat it the whole time thinking- please don't get sick tomorrow... In any case, it tasted "ok" and I'm not sure why we come back other than we miss the old Baja. Service was at least friendly this time. Ate here w Hubby and kids on the way to a show in Camarillo. The place was clean and I loved the salsa bar! Average dinner all in all, I would go back. I do think it's pretty pricey though. Over $9 for Baja burrito seems a little much. Also, I went for the Quesadilla tacos. Don't bother as the amount of cheese is barely there. So for me, it seems that for over $40 for my husband and 2 kids, could have had some real Mexican food just about anywhere that would be better and cheaper. Wow... This is a great Baja Fresh! The several times I have been here the salsa far is stocked with cold salsa and clean. The food comes out at the perfect temp, meat is hot, lettuce and sour cream is cold. For the most part, the cooks do a good job with the presentation. The staff is friendly and genuine.
