I have been a customer of many different Baja Fresh branches for about a decade. In general, I have been satisfied with the food and service but what happened today at the Danville location makes me give this location just 2 stars. We ordered 5 items to go, and when we got home, we opened our bag and noticed that one item, a steak burrito, was missing. So we drove back to the store, and told them of their mistake. The person at the counter said he'd make us the burrito and had to tell his supervisor. The supervisor told us that they would NOT make us the burrito and that they would have to review the video tapes to make sure that we are telling the truth. He said that very recently they have caught some people trying to cheat Baja Fresh by reviewing the video tape. Therefore, in order to do anything for us, they would review the video tapes first, which would take 1-2 weeks. Oh, and by the way, he said that's why customers should first look in their bag before leaving to make sure we get everything we ordered. Also, he said - his workers have been there for a long time (years, he said) and have never ever made a mistake (yea right). I have several problems with this. The first is assuming that all customers are trying to cheat them until proven otherwise. I just paid for my lunch, and YOUR workers made a mistake by forgetting to put my burrito in there, and not only do you not try to correct your mistake, but you imply that I'm lying by needing to check the video tape and saying that your workers NEVER make mistakes?! I find this completely insulting. I think in trying to protect themselves from dishonest customers, they have forgotten that there are honest customers out there and maybe the loss to "fraud" should be handled as -a cost to be written off, in order to not piss off and insult honest customers -look for a pattern from particular people - if it happens often with one party, you know who the dishonest ones are (seriously the number of people who would do that is low as the supervisor said it happened 2-3 times recently) The second, is being disingenuous in saying your workers never make mistakes. What a load of BS. The third is trying to blame it on the customer by saying that I should have looked in the bag first. Yea, you know what? I probably should have. But with 5 items in the bag, it was hard to eyeball and I wasn't going to stand there and open/unwrap each thing on your counter. And so I didn't. But then your workers should have given me my burrito I paid for. Seriously, would I drive twice to Baja Fresh from my home to cheat Baja Fresh out of an eight dollar burrito? I have better things to do with my time. I should say that after all this, the supervisor backed down and asked his staff to make the burrito. But he made it VERY clear to me that this was against corporate policy and that he's doing me a favor. I appreciated that he finally gave us the burrito. I did call corporate afterwards, who informed me that they have no such policy of reviewing video tapes and that they were supposed to make me what was missing. They said they would be calling and addressing with that branch. We will see what happens. But clearly, this branch has forgotten what "customer experience" means by having harsh rules that protect themselves, and in the meantime alienate honest customers. After all this, we got home with the burrito, and looked though the other 4 items, and realized they had gotten 1 other order wrong (slightly....wrong meat) too. So much for your workers who have been there for years and have never ever made a mistake. read more

Downhill fast and picking up speed This place was a staple for us for a quick good Caesar salad burrito or some tacos. The service has gone Downhill in the last year The owner decided to create his own menu and take off the good stuff like our salad burritos Now out of the blue the owner has decided to further alienate their customers by not accepting the coupons that come directly from Baja Fresh. Is that even legal ? How could it get worse? Well today we went in on a whim and see they are now charging for the free tortilla chips it's obvious with the recent lack of customers in there that the next step is shutting the doors. waiting for fee for soap in bathroom next sad to see an owner create this perception against a chain that was so good for many years read more

Don't bother living like it's 2016 and placing an order online at this location. You'll get to the store and they'll claim they never got the order because "the printer is broken." Best to call in order or else you'll arrive and end up waiting in the car like me. read more

I ordered on-line in advance because I was in a hurry, I only had 30 minutes for lunch, so I thought they would be quick. I arrived 5min before it was supposed to be ready and not only was it NOT ready, I waited an additional 15 min and it still wasn't ready. When I asked where it was, the manager was rude and started telling me how busy they were. I shared the reason why I ordered on-line is because I was in a hurry and that I really didn't want to hear his excuses - when would my lunch be ready? He said, I don't want your business! I explained that my credit card was already charged when I placed the order on-line - he said too bad - you'll need to work to get your money back with whomever on-line! What?? Wow I never thought of reading reviews before eating until recently when I've been met with awful customer service on a regular basis at restaurants all around town. Maybe it's the pandemic putting employees in a bad mood. But at the same time common decency I would expect. It's just so much easier to be kind to someone, and takes more energy to be rude. Anyways I asked for the creamy cheese on nachos without meat, was told I would be charged extra I said yes that fine. I was charged extra. Opened the nachos in front of the employee who took the order and asked where the creamy cheese is. She said oh that costs more I'm like yeah you charged me for it. She wanted an additional $4 for it now.. so I paid more again. Then she proceeded to scream at me so much that a vein started popping out of her face. I couldn't believe how upset she was getting over nachos. I wish her well there's still the rest of the day ahead of her. Someone really ticked her off. Then she started to complain about me in Spanish thinking I wouldn't understand her. I would avoid this restaurant seems like the food is questionable from other reviews and their service I received was by far the worst. We have just moved to this area and had not experienced Baja Fresh previously. The first experience was not bad, but that was move-in day and I was extremely hungry. Tried it for the 2nd time and was slightly disappointed. Today, I just tried it for the 3rd and final time. I ordered a chicken bowl to go. As I sat at home, almost 1/2 way through the bowl, I took a bite of something very hard. I uncovered a small metal wire of some sort. Needless to say I will never go there again. It's just a shame that it's one of the few "fast food" restaurants near Blackhawk. Wish there we more choices! read more

There's a couple of other Baja Fresh resturants in the area and they are much better than this one. I know about portion control but the burrito sizes from here are always extra small here. I tried to like this store because of the location, but over and over again, when I get the burritos home and take them out of the bag, ugh, ridiculous small snack, not dinner again. On a quest to find best Tacos in Danville, CA. Best means both taste and value. Tried Baja Fresh. Ordered carnitas tacos. Asked what salsa we wanted. Didn't give us any. Oh well. Sketchy service. Visted this location during my lunch break and had great fast service. I had the diabo burrito and the free chips and fresh salsa was a plus. The outdoor seating was only free at the time and it was kept clean even during a busy lunch rush. Would definitely come back for more. Pricing matches quality, this isn't taco bell. read more

Store 530 on 11000 Crow Canyon Rd in Danville, CA For the first time I was able to watch how Brian, the owner's brother, took care of our orders and subsequently did not wash his hands and touched my son's tortilla for his shrimp quesadilla as well as other people's food placed on a tray on top of the grill.  I saw everything very clearly.    When I called him on it, he said he will use another quesadilla.  I responded that I am not there to constantly watch him.  I work in the Compliance field, and as such, I reported this incident to the Contra Costa Food Commission.   While Baja Fresh advertises fresh foods and benefits from high profits, society pays the price of those who get food poisoning thanks to the nonhealth standards of your cashiers who don't wash their hands.  Please keep in mind that Grace, Jesus and Juan are very good.  Another person by the name of Happy is not.  This complaint is about Brian.  I thought I could trust what Baja Fresh advertises, but that's not the case.  A music teacher saw it all. read more

I guess I'll start with the positives. Very friendly staff and clean bathroom. However overall Baja fresh including this branch are becoming somewhat grubby outdated restaurants with seriously disappointing food. Bland uninspired by any stretch of the imagination. They watered down the salsa so it was really thin.. kinda a cheap move, definitely not franchise policy! They often give only 2 tacos when you order 3 and the cashier that is usually there is very lethargic like he's drugged out and takes your order so slowly that you aren't sure if he's actually understanding you. I like this place and so does my family. I sense the ingredients have changed for the better lately and the portions are bigger, a plus for my teen son with an enormous appetite. We always take out and its always exactly the way we ask. The people who take the order speak good English. Worst Baja experience ever! First the service is not good at all. They tell us they are out of seafood so we ask for carnitas and they say they are out of that too. They were also out of chips!! It's only 6:30 and they should still be open for several hours. Food took a long time and came out cold. One of our items never came at all. They never cooked it. My burrito was so tiny it was almost non existent and I get burritos from Baja all the time. Hoped it was a fluke, but seeing the reviews clearly this is a pattern. Won't be back to this location. Baja burritos never fail me. I love their salsa bar and how they put hot sauce out to add if not hot enough (I love it extra spicy). Customer service is always friendly and they always remember me. I noticed they overlooked the nachos and I was wondering if they were going to try and serve them to me but nope they made a new one. It only took a couple more minutes which I don't mind because I was impressed they didn't try and still give them to me. Also we went in a little bit before closing and they didn't make me feel like they were annoyed. Granted I was picking up from a phone order but they still had all the sauces out too. Really like Baja Fresh....REALLY disappointed with Blackhawk BJ. Just ordered $50 worth of food for my hard working team...specifically ordered "FISH" on 1 of the 2 salads, CLEARLY got chicken on both. Called and spoke to manager, who told me she needs to see it before she can give me a refund or new salad. Told her I was working and could not get away at this time. She repeated "I NEED TO SEE THE SALAD MA'AM". I finally just gave up and tossed the salad. Also, ordered shrimp tacos. Got what appears to be "shrimp cocktail" tacos with hot sauce and onions....2 certainly is NOT enough for a grown man to get full off of. Tip: Might want to order 5 in if you want to actually have a meal.....Looks like convenience of Blackhawk isn't worth it. San Ramon will still get my business. read more

I would not recommend this to anyone, simply because they are arrogant and customer unfriendly. They messed up my order for a veggy burrito take out by giving me the one with shrimp, that was meant for somebody else. Granted that mistakes happen, but the guy did not even say sorry and seemed to act as if he was doing me a favor when he said he would replace it ! I love Baja Fresh but this location is the worst - consistency short change you on the serving size - always mess up on orders. I just ordered a Mexicana burrito in a bowl - can barely find the chicken - there are no greens - loaded with rice and beans. They have never been able to deliver a good meal. read more

Just ate lunch down the street at the new Baja Fresh on Crow Canyon near BlackHawk.... The food was super fresh, got the carinitas fajita plate and a pinto bean and cheese burrito, both killer plates of food and we had a 'text message' coupon for $5.00 off, so it was a great overall deal. The owner Victor was working the front, super nice guy and the rest of the people working were all very pleasant... We really like this place--the salsa bar is yummy. I always get double shrimp and grilled ono tacos, and my husband loves their carnitas tacos. I could eat their chips and salsa all day. The people who work here are generally polite. Wish this place was a bit cleaner and the soda/tea drinks are sometimes watered down.
