This Baja Fresh is located in the North Park Plaza. They have plenty of parking, but it can get challenging during peak hours because they share it with other restaurants and H Mart. Service is friendly, polite, and fairly quick. They have inside and outside seating available. They have a good salsa bar with all the fixings, especially their mango salsa, which is good. I've only gotten their burritos, which are good. Their fountain drinks are nicely carbonated.

Not terrible but certainly not great. Since I was in the area, I made the decision to grab myself some Baja Fresh. It had been YEARS & YEARS since I last ate here and thought "why not??" While they are widely known for their fish tacos, I ended up with the Steak Burrito Ultimo and my purchase came with tortilla chips. Chips were not good- I like that the chips weren't thick but they were undeniably stale. Salsas were alright but the burrito was small in size and not tasty. 2 stars, I should have just driven a little further & hit up another burrito joint located in the neighboring complex.

$60 for 3 baja burritos and drinks. Too expensive. This location will be closed next month according to baja fresh corporate at 1-800-705-5754. Food quality has gone from bad to worse. The tortilla wasn't crisp, like Baja fresh bread. Burritos did not have cream, guacamole, salsa, cheese or even salt. Blend and blah taste. Soggy tortilla with rice, beans and grilled veggies (see picture). Food quantity is low. One plate of chips was given with 3 burritos. When asked at the counter, he asked us to purchase with no explanation of why each order did not come with a plate of chips. Service is rude and inattentive. Restrooms are filthy. It's horrendous to see a restaurant to go from my favorite to last choice. My last visit. Hopefully this location closes soon. to give place for a new and exciting one.

Had a great experience here on a Sunday evening. The worker was friendly, and answered all of our questions patiently. Repeated our order back to us to make sure she got it right. I didn't want guacamole so she replaced it with extra sour cream at no additional cost. We ordered two quesadillas for takeout with both steak and shrimp for each. I added roasted veggies in one. The wait was about 10 minutes or so, with no other customers in front of us, and the worker offered salsa of our choosing to go with the chips which were included with our meal. We got one mild and one spicy. Nothing extraordinary about these, pretty watery actually. But the quesadillas were so yummy. Cut and packaged perfectly, generously filled with fresh toppings and melted cheese, and the steak and shrimp were juicy and flavorful like right off the grill. The store was clean and inviting, with a modern look. Lots of seating both indoors and outside. And plenty of parking out front. I'll definitely be back!

I've been eating at this Baja Fresh since I was a child, and man....it's so disappointing to see how the quality of food has progressively gone downhill over the past few years. They've cut a lot of their best items from the menu, such as the chicken torta, and every time I order, I feel like their recipes become progressively more bland and mediocre. Baja Fresh used to be incredible and my favorite place for Mexican food, but I would never go out of my way to eat here anymore. I sincerely hope that management takes a good look at how they can improve the quality of their food and service, especially with so many competitors nearby like Chipotle across the street.

I cautiously ventured out for dinner tonight, despite unsuccessfully trying to recover from my annoying cold. A warm, comforting bean & cheese burrito sounded nice, so the hubby and I decided to do it. I've been to this location a few times & each time, the parking lots is a little nutso. If you can avoid passing through the HMart as really of the lot, I'd highly recommend it. We ordered 2 bean & cheese burritos with a small side of guacamole & chips. We also remembered to bring our reusable cups, so our sodas ended up being $.99 each (woohoo - so worth it!) Let me just say now that not all Baja Fresh locations are the same. This one probably makes the best guacamole I've had. Their bean & cheese burrito is also on point. I always say that if you can't get the basics right, then you're in trouble. These guys get the basics right! The place is clean, the salsa bar is well-stocked & also clean. The service was super-nice. We even got offered extra chips! I

I miss Baja Fresh. They used to have one in Franklin, TN and they used to have one in Downtown Chicago. Both went away and I had not been back until this week when I was driving around looking for a place for lunch. I wanted a salad and because I was in a hurry, I just ordered the hand tossed Baja BBQ Chicken Salad. When it arrived, I had to laugh. The size of the salad was enough to feed a family of four people. It was almost a platter of salad. I think it even would rival an entrée salad from The Cheesecake Factory. The salad. Fresh lettuce. Jicama strips. Bell peppers. Avocado. Tortilla strips. Huge chunks of the most delicious grilled chicken. The salad dressing that came on the side was good but I barely used any. Why bother with the extra calories and fat when you can just create your own salsa "dressing" with all of the salsas from the Salsa Bar? I really like the salsa/topping bar. I think there were about 8 different salsas, jalapenos, limes, etc. to help yourself to. I also got a side of chips with my salad. I don't know if chips usually come with the salad, but I ate them. With all 8 different types of salsa. I really really wish they would bring back more Baja Fresh locations.

Enchilada Style Diablo Burrito

I've been coming here since I was a small kid, and maybe it's the nostalgia that gets me, but I think this place is amazing! I always get the vegetarian Diablo Burrito when I come here (they may have taken it off the menu, but as for it and they'll know exactly what you're talking about), and the sauce is so amazing it really ties the whole burrito together. Not to forget the salsa bar, another highlight of my childhood, but experimenting with them is always so fun. Anytime I'm extra hungry, I get the enchilada style burrito for just a bit more, and its so great- they also include nachos covered in the sauce which makes it so filling!

Baja Fresh use to be a decent place to eat. I usually get the fish taco. I really don't know what happen, the fish they use really change, it's more like a square stick, maybe I'm just not use to eating fish this way. It's just strange. I got the grill fish and it didn't taste grill at all, no grill marks, more like steam fish. I don't know if it's only this location. I usually go to Baja Fresh in South Lake Tahoe and it's always been decent. The service was speedy and quick. Parking lot can be jam pack during lunch.

The amount of salsa verde I received for my salad. Boo!
Susan R.

I ordered a Baja Ensalada with Salsa Verde dressing on the side through Grubhub. See the picture, I received a large amount of some dressing I don't want and a half filled small container of the dressing I want. I can't even call them to complain because they turned their phone off. So disappointed because I usually eat in at this location for lunch.

Flavor profiles have changed and lost some rich complexity, replaced with increase in spice level. Meals I used to love are now too spicy. The creamy chipotle sauce my family has LOVED for years is now too spicy to eat - we just feel the burn, can't taste the flavor. The dishes we now still enjoy are dwindling. Asked a manager recently why the chipotle sauce recipe was changed and he said it hadn't. Sure, the 5 of us in my family are just imagining. Aqui has become such an incredible success over the decades BECAUSE of its amazing food- there was never a need to shift to the over-spiced version. People can ALWAYS add more spice to their individual meals, after all. Hoping for a return to flavor instead of brute force to our tastebuds.

I had their bean and cheese dip, which was served cold along with their hard tortilla chips. The beans were lukewarm, and the cheese was more like a spicy sauce. Not my favorite. But they mentioned they can't access those reservations... My party was the first to check in before waves of other parties came in and they told us that we could not sit down because the kitchen was heavily behind but they had lots of tables open. We asked to sit at a table and wait but they said everyone needed to wait at the front. We didn't get sat until 11:30am, but in between 10:45-11:30am they sat 3 parties of 3 (which obviously checked in after us). Mind you my party is a total of nine (5 adults, 3 young kids, 1 baby) so it's not like we're gonna order a plate for each kid. Their reasoning to sit the 3 parties is that it wouldn't overwhelm kitchen, but that would've equaled the same amount of people in my party and most likely more plates! It just didn't make any sense at all.

I tried the popular baleada, which is a home-made flour tortilla filled with a layer of mashed red beans, queso fresco, eggs and with or without meat (I got it with carne asada). The flour tortilla was just as other described - soft, buttery smooth, almost melt in your mouth goodness. The carne asada was dry and hard so I could've gone without. I bet a braised beef like barbacoa would've been perfect for this item. It also came with salsa and I selected mild which gave it a nice bright flavor. I also ordered a chicken tamale (they also offer pork) and I was surprised to find a whole chicken wing (no skin) stuffed into the tamale! I broke into it using a fork and hit something hard which turned out to be the bones. But honestly, this was one of the best tamales I've tried in a long time. Flavorful, moist, and a nice sized portion. It came wrapped in what I think was banana leaf. The service was fast on a Wednesday night and there were a handful of friendly patrons seated nearby. You could tell that they were regulars. The space was intimate with around 10-15 tables seating about 4 people each. Maya's Cafe menu has a wide assortment of dishes to choose from: serving breakfast dishes like chilaquiles, lunch items such as burritos, or soups and full on dinner plates with rice, beans, and choice of protein. There's even more selection and the whole menu is in Spanish so I'll be sure to use Google Translate next time!
