I haven't been to an Aqui in forever. I forgot how much I used to love this place. I usually go for their swirls, but today I decided to try their chef special - jambalaya. The jambalaya was full of flavors and filled with fresh ingredients: shrimps, mahi, spinach, zucchini, tomatoes, and okra. It also came with taquitos and they were delicious. Everything balanced each others so well and paired perfectly with all the hot sauces they offered. I'm not a fan of the avocado dip. It was okay. I would rather just get the salsa and chips. The place was big and have plenty of seatings. However, it started to get packed and open table became nonexistent. Out of all the Aqui locations I've gone to, the interior of this place is my fav. Service was fast and efficient. They routinely cleaned the table and picked up any empty dishes. read more

I only ever come here for drinks with some friends to wind down after work and the service here is great. The bartenders are attentive and keep a conversation going with all types of people and that takes talent. It does get quite busy here so sometimes there is a line at a bar but thats to be expected because the quality of their drinks, not just the swirls, are top notch. If youre coming during the colder months theres heaters outside to keep you warm, and if its hot, just bring a swirl out there to keep you cool. read more

I've gone here for years since it's the closest Aqui to me. I've been going to the Cupertino Aqui more recently, and it has a better vibe than this Blossom Hill one, I'm ngl. The Blossom Hill location is kind of bad, with it being next to a VTA stop and a parking lot. The patio has no views since there's a giant wall, but the dining area inside is nice enough, if a bit cramped. The freshly made California-based food and, of course, the alcoholic swirls are delicious and affordable. Aqui is a South Bay Area institution. Even though the Blossom Hill Aqui not my favorite location, in the grand scheme of things, it's still an awesome restaurant to come get good food and drinks. read more

It looks like a tropical slushee with tequila. Centenario Tequila to be exact. They serve them on their cashier side where you order your food and also on the bar side. I had an amazing Sonoran braised beef plate I believe my family calls this "carne en su jugo". The chips and salsa were okay. I like the thick corn tortilla chips but the pico de gallo salsa was watery. I prefer a chunky salsa. The pozole was okay more of a Tex-Mex flavor. The hominy was cooked perfect just too much tomatillo flavor in the broth for me. It was good though just not authentic enough to rate excellent. I devoured the beef plate. What a combination of goodness all in one plate. The sweet potato mash with the two fried wedges I can eat a full plate of. I loved that it came with zucchini and queso fresco on top. Made the plate a little refreshing with a scoop of cold Santa Fe style corn. The beef was so tender and flavorful. I kept eying someone's chocolate cake that was sitting next to us. My go-to order is the Southwest Chicken Taquitos and they always come crispy and perfect with a good amount of avocado on them, especially considering the price. It's an order at the counter type of place, and the cashiers are always friendly and happy to answer questions. The drinks are nice and strong while also refreshing and reasonably priced. Their flourless chocolate cake is also tasty, very chocolate-y, and great texture even without flour. You can't really go wrong at Aqui! read more

Aquí is a San Jose staple for a reason and it's not just their swirls. Personally, I think the swirls are both too strong and too cloyingly sweet so I never partake. But their food is incredible. Forget the "can't move, can't function because I ate too much heavy Mexican food", this is fresh mex. They have many vegetarian options which my in laws love when they're in town. I love the adobo chicken lime avocado bowl but my husband loves the fajitas. I love the side bar of all the sauces and salsas that you can grab as needed. Met my mom for an early dinner here on a Thursday night. I usually go to the Willow Glen location, but Blossom Hill was more convenient for us to meet. It was early enough that the restaurant was pretty empty, which was nice because they tend to be packed for dinner. I was disappointed to discover they took my favorite item off the menu, the salmon taco. I've been eating it for many years. They do still have lots of options for salmon, so I ordered the Grilled Salmon Southwest Cesar. The salad was delicious, but could have used more romaine. I loved the grilled corn and pumpkin seeds. Unfortunately, the salmon itself was very plain and flavorless. I left most of it on the plate. My mom had the Wild Crab Cake bowl. She loved the crab cake, but said the kale was too bitter and the carrots were undercooked. I'm surprised the food didn't taste better because I've been eating at Aqui for about 20 years and can't remember ever not liking my food. I don't know if it was this location or just an off night. I'll definitely keep eating there, but will try something different next time. read more

It's been a while since I've gone to an Aqui restaurant. My usual fish taco is no longer in the menu. Their menu has been simplified. I got the grass fed beef bowl. It was light and fresh, more for lunch not so much dinner entree. I ended up eating more chips to keep me full. Their swirls have not changed, still delicious. I got their strawberry apricot soju swirl. It wasn't overpoweringly sweet and it was refreshing. Service was quick despite a busy dinner service. The staff was quick with cleaning the tables for the next customer. Bathroom was also clean. We stayed till closing time and the staff was nice with letting us know to leave. read more

My wife finally got me to eat at a sit down Mexican restaurant. We sat outside on a warm afternoon but it was fine in the shade. There were some flies buzzing around which I was able to ignore. After looking over the menu, I realized you have to go inside to order. I'm ok with that but then does this count as a sit down restaurant? I guess it's a self service sit down restaurant. I enjoyed my food. I got this Cuban looking dish (forgot the name but it's in the photo) and wifey got her salad. She's ordered this salad 3x prior and swears by its goodness. I find it pretty good but not sure if it's the big wow she says it is. My Cuban dish had nice flavors, a rich sauce, very meaty chunks of tender pork and a nice contrast of flavor with the fried plantains. I don't eat black beans much so this was a nice accompaniment. I enjoyed my main dish, but I will try other dishes next time. read more

We love Aqui. It's simple, healthy food that is well prepared. I've never had a bad meal there. The prices are reasonable, which is also hepful. Usually we take out, and the food is always ready and waiting for us, plus (unlike many places) our order is always correct. I've fallen in love wtih the crispy cauliflower... so yummy! Let's start off with the good stuff. The food we ordered was delicious. My partner and I split both our entrees because it was my first time ever and her first time in YEARS. The Tri-tip chimichurri was really good! The portion size was really good and the chimichurri was the highlight of the dish. The grilled wild mahi was good too. The mahi mahi was a bit dry and over cooked, but the rest of the plate was delicious. The highlight of this dish was the rice in the sauce. The chips were hot and crunchy, and the salsa was just addicting. LOVED that it was unlimited. We ordered some drinks too. We got a jack & coke, and Tito's soda. Both were decently poured. At times we could barely taste the alcohol. But after 4 drinks each, it did the job. Hahaha. The restaurant was busy! Which was expected since it was a Friday night. It was super fast paced. We sat at the bar so it was more of an adult vibe, but we even saw some babies with their parents sitting near the bar watching the NFL draft. We met some amazing regulars. And the bartender was super nice and personable. Now the only reason I gave it a 4 star because as soon as we got there I was bringing over a high chair to sit at the bar since there was space, and the bartender was rude in the way that she told me not to bring it and to put it back. I'm not mad at the reason behind it, because I totally get it. But it was the way she said it. And with that being the first thing she said to me made a huge difference. I didn't like it. But she turned it around once we settled in. All in all we'll be back to eat and drink again. read more

Went to the restaurant on a Friday evening with a group of friends. No reservation needed. Walked in and sat on the patio. It's a self serve restaurant. You order and pay upfront at the counter. They give you a buzzer for the food and drinks are served immediately. The indoors was a little underwhelming but the patio had a nice vibe to it. They had heaters on top of every table making it comfortable to sit outdoors even on a chilly night. Food: We ordered the Aqui sampler for the table which came with the guacamole, salsa, hummus and chips. Pretty good quantity and a great shareable starter. Chicken enchilada: good quantity, has 3 enchiladas, in a brown sauce served. It was served with chayote-zucchini which I am not a fan of. It was also served with roasted corn and brown rice which really yum. Thai peanut organic tofu: very interesting combination with mango and grapes served on a bed of rice, tofu and veggies. Very fresh and refreshing. Adobo chicken bowl: person who ordered it wasn't a big fan Drinks: Drinks are what Aquis specializes in! Every drink on the table was really appreciated. I met a friend here for lunch recently and we had a nice time. It was a week day and a little after the lunch hour so they were not busy. We ordered right away and only waited a few minutes for our food. I had the Grilled Shrimp bowl: Grilled shrimp, avocado, cilantro rice, pinto beans, romaine, salsa fresca, chipotle corn salsa, Monterey Jack, sour cream and cotija cheese. I held the rice and had them do extra beans. Overall I really liked this bowl. A bit too much lettuce but overall, it was tasty. Loved all the items in it. We shared the Pumpkin Cheesecake.
