This is my favorite spot since the WCW Nitro Grill shut down. I didn't think I could ever find a meal better than the Headlock Hot Wings at the Nitro Grill but honestly everything I've had at Sharkeez has put the Nitro Grill to shame. Hubby & I came here for the first time on a Friday afternoon - only to find out they had Happy Hour until 7pm M-F! Select drinks and food items have discounted pricing for Happy Hour - and to top it off, they have a self serve chips and salsa station. What?!!! Yeah, the self serve chips and salsa alone was pretty amazing. The server behind the cash register was also extremely informative of their Happy Hour specials, and treated every guest with the same form of respect. Really appreciated the vibe we got as we entered. Hubby and I got two drinks - he got a POG drink and I got a mango drink - just don't remember which one exactly, but both were extremely tasty. I ended up ordering a birria crusty queso taco off the Happy Hour Menu because ... how can you not?! It was delicious. And finally, the chips & salsa station was probably the most beautiful thing I have ever seen at a bar. I loved it immediately. Chips were hot and fresh, and they had a variety of different salsas too. Definitely a good spot with great service and great vibes. Jack our host Gary the manager were extremely attentive and they went above and beyond!!!! Will definitely return the next time. I'm in the area. I love it when I am receiving amazing service. I wasn't sure how good this place would be when I first went in, but I really enjoyed the mango fish tacos and the unlimited chippies. If a Coke a cola girly and their Coke was sooooo yummy. The best part of our dining experience had to be Gary. He was so sweet to not just me but also my 5 year old that was having a bit of a rough day. I've learned it's not wise to order a salad from a sports bar, and I owe it to Sharkeez for imparting that wisdom upon me. It's a sports bar; people don't come for the food but for the sports and the drinks. I foolishly was hungry and decided to order a "Famous Crazy Chicken Salad," and it was the most evil-looking/tasting salad I have ever had in my life. Who knew a salad could be spicy? Not me. I always have a great time here. They get busy so be prepared! My bestfriend is in a wheelchair and i will say the way we are always accommodated for her. Or even when i go with my other friends i know that we'll be taken care of. Gary the manager is so sweet and always so helpful. Nic is always there to make sure we're comfortable and have drinks in our hands and Norman is the best! Anytime I'm in town best believe we will show up. read more

Had an amazing time at Baja Sharkeez! Our server Sara was seriously the best super welcoming from the moment we walked in and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. Refills came out quick, she was on top of everything, and just gave overall great service. The food tasted amazing and the beers were perfect. The whole vibe of the place was on point too. Yes but it seems like they don't want people dancing too crazy during the weekdays. So I would be cautious of that.

I believe they have taco Tuesdays and they play a range of music. 80s and such. A lot of TVs to watch sports on as well! It is a great hangout.

The vibe inside near the bar is classic & the other inside area was lovely and gave patio vibes while being enclosed and shaded. Lunch specials were fabulous! Worth the price and the flavors did not disappoint. On our way out we noticed Taco Tuesday & Happy Hour menus. Pics attached. Small parking lot in the back as well as paid street parking. They also have a kids play area on the patio with lots of toys. I believe it was partly shaded.

I have never Yepled before but I had to let people know what my wife and I experienced at this restaurant, and I may even report this to the Better Business Bureau. We were at Sharkeez in Newport Beach just by happenstance; my wife and I are vacationing here in Newport Beach from Arizona and we come out here a few times a year. This has been our first and will be our last visit to Sharkeez. We were at the beach on Sunday afternoon and we wanted a bite to eat so we stopped in to check it out. We sat down, but had to get back up to order since the people behind the bar were too busy to come out and take orders at the table like a normal restaurant. I ordered a chicken burrito and my wife ordered the fish tacos. She said the tacos were good, but the chicken in my burrito was a little dry. The drinks were good and strong which was the only positive thing about our visit. Half way through our meal, out of nowhere some crazy guy threw some large object through the front window! Let me say that again, someone actually picked something up and THREW IT THROUGH THE FRONT WINDOW in the middle of the day! I don't know what it was but it made a loud shattering noise and scared the hell out of me and my wife. It was the craziest thing I've ever experienced while eating lunch. We had enough at that point so we got up and left immediately out of fear for our life! As we walked out and were across the street two guys blasted out of the front door and started fighting right there in the middle of the street! To the point where it stopped traffic! This place is very crazy and I would never go back again. We went in for a bite to eat and maybe a drink, but never in a million years thought we would see the craziness we experienced. Horrible place, horrible experience; it seemed like a biker bar with the fight, the SMASHED WINDOW, and the loud smoky atmosphere. It was like a scene out of a Wild West movie. Being a business owner myself, this speaks horribly on the owners of this establishment for allowing something like this to happen. Ahhh what to say about this place? I hesitated on whether to give it 3 or 4 stars and went with 4 on the basis that if you're from Orange County, you pretty much already have a preconceived notion of this place and thus know whether or not it's your kind of establishment. I very, very much prefer to go here during the daytime; it's a great place to refuel after a surf sesh- the tacos are bomb and I love the do it yourself nacho bar. It sort of captures the quintessential southern california, orange-county beach lifestyle in a restaurant- go here after (or during) a carefree day at the beach, grind on some al fresco tacos, kick it on the open-air patio with the ocean breeze blowing through your hair...good times. On the other hand, unless you are into the has-been, pompous, late 30 something creepy men crowd, I'd avoid this place at night. It seems to generally be filled with old "bros" who usually seem a bit too wasted and definitely lay the rico suave bit on way too thick. In other words, it seems like the majority of the crowd here, both genders, especially on weekend nights, are trying way too hard to impress eachother. Furthermore, it's a pretty small place, so you're packed in like sardines amongst the ranks of douchebags. I can't tell you how many times I've had drinks spilled on me by some guy who's so plastered he doesn't know his old name, or worse felt up by the aforementioned guy...with my boyfriend holding my other hand. This crowd is pretty standard in the Newport/HB nightlife, so it's pretty hard to avoid, and Sharkeez seems to be one of their main points of congregation. When most people think of the first place they partied on the peninsula in the past 10 years... It's Sharkeez. Hate it or love it it's been a mainstay in Newport for over a decade. Let's start with the biggest weaknesses. The staff is slow. This place is known for being "a scene" and that doesn't stop with the workers. Most are more interested in mingling and having a good time than getting drinks out quick. The new remodel looks nice, but the place is pretty small. People talk about how they hate "the crowd" but a lot of people are looking for a crowd and to be apart of the scene, so if that's you, you'll like this spot. The crowd is more aggressive then other bars on the peninsula, so there are more fights here. The food is pretty good. It's mexican bar food, but they have some decent stuff. The drinks are reasonably priced for the area, but they can be inconsistent. They usually have DJs on busy nights as well. The daytime can be enjoyable here as the space is pretty open and the crowds aren't as bad as the night time. Service is usually better as well. GO HERE IF: You're single and looking to mingle and be apart of the scene. I effing HATE you Sharkeez.. Why you ask? Here's why: -Every single person who works here is a burnout loser with a FAT undeserved attitude. You're Sharkeez NOT the Chateau Marmont! Get real people, decent customer service is important these days and this place is a tremble on the Richter scale. Why do you dogs think you're ponies?.. You tell me Sharkeez?! -Your drinks suck. I want to say that I don't think it's what Sharkeez can do for me, it is what I can do with for it. Let's get a few things straight first; this isn't purgatory, this isn't the third layer of Dante's Inferno, this is hell. Pure hell. I didn't think that there was anywhere in America where you could catch an airborne disease, but this place might be it. Let's just start with the name: Sharks are ok, I guess. But adding a Z to the end of things is just a crime to humanity. Unless you're a famous rapper, yours truly, or weigh over 3 bills (that's three hundred pounds to you British yokels out there) that extra Z is not cool. Again, I found myself not thinking of what Sharkeez could do for me, I wanted to know what I could do for it. I thought about trying to get Planned Parenthood to pass out free penicillin out front, but then I realized that you cannot cure herpes. I then thought about handing out free water to help people sober up, but Aquafina is not sponsored by Affliction, so that wouldn't work. Bros: If you are down for porking a bleached blonde Glamis rat after popping a few vodka Red bulls, this place is for you. 10 STARS!!!!!!! We came here yesterday on the party bus for my boyfriends and my birthday. I called a week ahead to make a reservation for all 27 of our guests and they were super sweet and organized with getting us all set up. We got there early (as advised) because the later you go the more packed it is. So when we got there they had our tables ready and reserved. We sat down, got drinks, ordered food, and the service was extremely quick! The bartenders and servers were super nice and funny too. We also had two people in our group who were extremely intoxicated and the staff handled it so well. They weren't assholes like at most places. They were super understanding and most of them said "I've been there before". Of course the two people had been kicked out (which is understandable as it is a business) BUT the manager was really cool by letting one of our friends sit on a chair out back and sober up until they got picked up. He even brought her paper towels and a water. The other one just chilled on the party bus we took until we all left. Overall the experience, the atmosphere, the drinks, music, food, and customer service was all so INCREDIBLE. Thank you Sharkeez for making our birthday experience so amazing! read more

I just started recently eating here, which is why I am writing this review. I have been coming here for years as it is one of the best late night bar spots in town. Every night of the week this place is going off. However, having a few weekdays off, I've found myself coming here with friends during the day to drink and eat. My friends and I always have an epic time. The customer service is awesome, you order all your food and drinks at the bar. They make the drink right in front of you, which I personally like and they deliver the food out to you and make sure you are doing okay. Every day of the week they have some sort of item on feature. Monday their fajitas are amazing and so cheap, my favorite is the mixed grill with black beans. Tuesday is insane almost all their tacos are on feature and they are delicious. I absolutely love their blackened shrimp and fish and the chicken teriyaki tacos. They also have a happy hour Mon-fri 3-7 with lots of great drink and food features. This place blew me away with their quality of food, features and customer service. I highly recommend giving this place a try if you have never eaten here and checking out what feature they have going on that day. read more

Baja Sharkeez is a chain with multiple locations throughout Southern California, but this location specifically (Newport Beach) has to be one of my absolute favorite places in all of Orange County! Norman was the first friendly face we met on our way in. He always says hello and he is great at making everyone feel safe and welcome. Gary was the manager last time I went in with some friends, and he took great care of our party - he helped us with all our questions about the menu, and made sure we got our food and drinks right away without any issues. Dillon was another one of our bartenders, and he was very friendly, made some fantastic drinks, and had some great recommendations as well! (Not to mention how quick and efficient he was) As it got a little later into the evening, Nick was hosting a DJ and a large group having a lot of fun. The music was great, the crowd was friendly and lively - overall it was a great evening out, and we will absolutely be going back soon for another night like this! While there are spots with more breathtaking ocean vistas, the views here are still decent, and you can't beat the proximity to the beach, pier, and local farmers market. It's a great spot to refuel after enjoying the area's activities. Be prepared for a casual setup: you'll grab a menu at the door, place your order at the bar, and then find your own seat. They apparently have a Bloody Mary bar on Saturdays and Sundays, which sounds like a fun option, though I didn't get to try it on my visit. A definite plus is the self-serve chips and salsa station - always appreciated! I ordered the birria quesadilla with a side of jalapeno crema sauce. We went in around noon to celebrate a girlfriends birthday. It was packed with football fans for the playoffs. It was a hard to find a table. We found two spots at the bar for 6 of us. It was a little uncomfortable at first. The crowd was a little older and really into the game. Our bartender Raffi was amazing. Great costumer service and very funny. He had more personality then the average bartender I have come across. He made some great recommendations on the food. We shared some fish tacos (AMAZING) and the chicken nachos. After the game the crowd changed to a little bit younger crowd. The music was great, the vibe was on, and our bartender even found us a table. We were there for hours. Atmosphere was great. Food, Alcohol, and an overall great birthday shenanigans for our birthday girl. Did I mention jello shots too..... Overall if you want a place to have fun where the employees look like they are having fun creating a great atmosphere, then Sharkeez is the place for you. I stopped by this bar for a Friday night happy hour date, and it turned out to be a great choice. Right off the bat, the service was fast and efficient -- I ordered a drink at the bar before sitting down and the drink was in my hand before I could even decide where to sit. Speaking of drinks, they were generously sized and well made, perfect for easing into the weekend. The bartender was quick and friendly with a smile. The atmosphere had just the right balance of energy and comfort -- it was just the right kind of busy. There was inside and outside seating options, stools, tables and cozy options. One of the highlights? Free chips and salsa during happy hour -- always a win. The chips were in a heating tray and were just the right crispy. My friends and I decided to head over to Sharkeez for some drinks after a long day at work. As soon as we got to the door, security stopped us and told me we could come in because I was dressed like a gangsta. I told him I am not in a gang and it was a Sean Jean T-shirt I had on, not gang affiliated clothing, I work in IT. I told him the only reason you are stopping us is because we are five black guys and told him I wanted to complain to your manager. After arguing with this guy for about 15 minutes he finally let us in, after inside I could see what this place was about, we were the only black people in this place except for one other black guy behind the counter. We ordered some drinks and after a while started to feel very uncomfortable with their ALL WHITE security guys staring at us all night. All their security is 100% white, they look like the guys you see on the news at neo nazi rallies. The only reason to go here if your black, is if your a NAACP lawyer and you want to get paid with a class action lawsuit cause your in there with the guys you see on the news. read more

I thought I was one of those girls who liked to go out, drink, flirt, wear a skanky top, and get buzzed at the trendy places....Sharkeez made me feel otherwise. But boy was it fun to watch the "Roadhouse Complex" bouncers walk up and down waiving their flashlights at the floor making sure there was a constant isle throught the place. All in all, it was way too crowded, I don't really remember being able to even GET to the bar to order a drink ( I had a few bought for me by friends) and I was constantly being pushed, bumped into, and my ass brushed by strange men walking by....not such a great time....I have never been to the new Sharkeez in Huntington, but by the looks of it, it isn't worth my time to stand in line for an hour for an experience like this, and it seemed to take the place of Momo's quite nicely. A new place that seems all the rage until you get inside...and it looks, feels and is hitting on you just like any other bar...but to all of you who enjoy times like this....more power to you. omfg THE BOUNCER/BARTENDER NAMED Louise, THE MAN LOUISE IS AWFUL. He stopped my best friends with a REAL ID who turned 21 in October ( it's now nov) with her NEW ID, and denied her. AT the start of the night i was let in and i heard under his breath say , " i'm not letting her in with that bad fake" to another manager. ITS LITERALLY NOT FAKE. We had to wait like 10 mins to see if someone legit would check it and no one did so we didn't care and we went to stag, we came back like an hour later,to prove our point. The cops were right there, so we asked them to prove to them it's a real ID. We went up to the bar to and and finally got in with the " fake id" that's been proven real. THAN MAN SAID Saying " how the fuck did you guys get in here" and he told him it was a real ID. And he told us " SHUT THE FUCK UP" and to " CALM DOWN" and we were appalled by his behavior and left because the vibes were so off and it was so rude and he should be fired. Food is amazing I always get the chicken tender tacos the sauce is so good I ask for extra and when no one is looking I shoot it like a shot of patron but let me tell me it's better then patron . The bartenders are cool the girls that work here are hot. Music is always fun and no matter what night it is Rudy malarkeys and woodys are dead but sharkeez is FUN. I hear its voted number one place to find a one night stand! Ok so I used to bartend at a bar so I know how it can get. But I must tip my hat to the staff at Sharkeez. A number of friends and I decided to spend our Halloween there this year, and we had a GREAT time!! The place was packed with people just trying to have a good time, the staff was on point. They were dressed up hilariously and were hustling all night, and got our drinks to us as fast as they could each time, thanks James. And one of the best parts was the music, DJ AC2 (name? lol) had us jamming all night!! I've been there before when other dj's typically play all house music, and I'll be the first to tell you no one wants to listen to that crap all night!!! Don't know how they powered through that night like they did, not sure I could've, but it was greatly appreciated. This place has it all. Great atmosphere, you can't beat being by the beach, delicious food, tasty strong drinks, tons of tvs, great music, and an amazing staff. I came in last week and was lucky enough to get a spot at the bar. Immediately I was greeted by the bartender. They have a pretty good selection of beers so it took me a minute to decide. While I was deciding the bartender let me know about their complimentary chips and salsa. I ended up ordering a grapefruit sculpin and got their shrimp tacos. Amazing. After that I met up with a few girlfriends for a birthday and the bartender must have over heard us talking and bought her a birthday shot. It was such a nice gesture. My gf wasn't too happy about turning 35, the shot definitely made her smile. The music was right up our alley, they play all the hits. We stayed for a few hours after that and had a blast. The whole crowd had a fun energy, which made watching the World Cup even better. I've heard Wild Goose really cranks up at night with a younger crowd, but I haven't experienced that side of it yet.
