Welcoming spot located inside the Crown Plaza Hotel. When they were open, I was the 1st to arrive to sit a the bar and watch the games on TV. Quickly greeted and held some great conversation. I took advantage of Happy Hour with some margaritas. The personalized touch on my drinks by John was great. If I had more time, i could of posted up for another hour. I do wish the hours of the bar started around noon vs 4pm, but not a lot of foot traffic I'm sure so I just rolled with it. read more

Great food and selection. Breakfast buffet was constantly stocked and monitored by staff. Bartender and bar service were amazing also. The common theme among the staff tended to be a genuinely happy welcome and smile with everyone you met. This is a hotel restaurant at Crown Plaza, a medium priced hotel. Usually hotel cafes are not great. This is better than most. Service was fast & friendly. Decor is cozy, typical. They have a long happy hour, good snacks, a good old fashioned. We had French dip sliders. Very good. The beef was thick sliced with a good sauce. "Chick pea bites" are falafel, with tsaziki & naan. My fiancé and I were in town visiting for an event and were staying at the hotel so we decided to check out this place for some food and drinks. When we first arrived we were the only ones there and it was not busy at all. We were greeted and seated right away. We ordered some drinks which were delicious. I arrived at 6:30ish on a Sunday. A handful of people were eating dinner and drinking. There was only one person working the bar and serving food. I ordered soup and salad. I figured ladle the soup into a bowl, throw some leaves into another bowl, and et voilà dinner is ready. But no. Just apologies after 40 minutes. I ended up at McDonald's next door. After enjoying my Smashed Avocado Toast with a couple of over-easy eggs I am happy with my decision. This is a midscale to elegant hotel, and the bar and restaurant here match that ambiance in general. For a Friday evening, this venue was surprisingly empty. The bartender working said he didn't know why it had been so slow lately. The restaurant is very clean, however. They have a happy hour menu that has fairly good pricing. Well drinks/wines are $9. There is a food menu that offers some of their best options. I had the tacos, and they were very delicious. Ordered the fries on the side, and those were great as well. The service was amazingly fantastic. Maybe because I was the only patron. Came here for company happy hour on a Thursday around 5pm. Only two servers for the whole bar so they were really hustling. They were very nice despite their understaffing. This place is definitely one of the hidden gems of OC. Located inside the Crown Plaza in Costa Mesa off of the infamous South Coast Plaza Bristol exit. Fireside Tavern is one of my places to turn too for happy hour and a great place to lounge without all the crazy busy crowds. Been here a pleather of times for happy hour and special celebrations and never once had a bad experience so I decided to book my husbands surprise 40th birthday here. I contacted the event planner Kristin and she is AMAZING! Every email and question I had,she was very quick with a response and solution. We went back and forth several times regarding the catering options and she was very helpful to suggest and offer items that was within my budget. On the day of the event there was an AC problem and she was again quick to fix the problem and offer solutions. The food was amazing. My guests were very happy and was especially impressed with the chicken tacos. Overall Kristin and the staff was Extraordinary! Came here for a late night drink and some food with my partner. Charles and Maribel were very nice and extremely welcoming. It's hard to find these days. The restaurant is dimly lit so it's a nice chill vibe if you just want to hang out and enjoy a drink or two. I would definitely come here again just to see Maribel and Charles. Really the quality of the calamari was better than I would expect from a hotel restaurant and the breading was tasty. 5/5 Veggie Pattie with Gluten Free Bun - My godmother ordered this with the Tavern Burger style and she said the veggie pattie was your typical veg pattie - good not great - but the bun was *superb*. She literally said it was the best gluten free bun she has ever eaten. Came with choice of fries or salad - she got the salad with a side of ranch - see picture for detail. Pretty normal greens and some small tomatoes on the salad. For the excellence of the bun alone I feel I need to give it 5/5. Chipotle Penne - This was just ok - I mean you can't go totally wrong with cream sauce and pasta but it didn't blow me away - athough it did fill me up and I ate almost the entire thing. That's gotta count for something! 4/5 Chipotle Mac n Cheese - I did actualy really enjoy the Mac n Cheese! It was very smokey and an appropriate amount of american cheese was used instead of fancy cheese so it was nice and creamy. Not spectacular but quite decent and the portion size was excellent considering it was a side order 5/5. Ambiance: This restaurant is in the lobby of a suburban hotel so it is not crowded. They have some cool circular booths and a big fireplace so I would say it isn't a terrible ambiance and on a Sunday night there were maybe 10 other tables occupied. Happy hour: This runs til 7 pm (restarts for late night too) and has some good deals (usually cocktails are $12-14 in this area and here they were $8, well drinks $6). There are also food items on the happy hour menu- we got the messy nachos (don't really recommend because they had only a little cotija cheese - they just weren't as messy as advertised!) And the hummus starter that came with some veggies that were a little limp but the hummus itself was good. Service: Attentive but the kitchen was quite slow. We waited a long time for our meals athough the drinks and starters came out fast. Our server was very cognizant of the happy hour and ensured that we got one last drink order in before the clock chimed 7! read more

THIS PLACE IS IN A HOTEL. We did not know this prior and would not have gone if we did. It showed up as a new spot on Yelp and we figured we should give it a go. They also advertise daily HH from 4-7pm, which pulled us in. We were definitely taken aback by both the location and the insanely small food portions. We paid $60 and got two mini tacos, 6 wings, 4 baby-sized bruschetta bites and 4 drinks. We were still hungry after. Again, this was supposed to be a deal. Service was slow (we overheard the table next to us say they had waited 45 minutes for their meal), food was mediocre and they were out of draft beers at 6:30pm. read more

We are staying here for a work event and the food and bar service has definitely been fair, not great for the whole 2+ weeks. From order to bring out was over an hour for a soup on the starter menu. There was no offer of discount, no proactive acknowledgement of the time passed. Very disappointing. read more
