Two separate people recommended me to this shop so I gave it a try. I called on the holiday weekend, and left a message for them, and they called right back! My experience with bake auto care has been fantastic thus far. During this crazy season my wife's car was neglected for quite a few months and needed a lot of work. I felt bad reading off the laundry list of things I needed fixing. But they met our needs with patience and kindness, and Never made me feel dumb. I got a call back the very next day with a rundown of what they were able to do, and things that they would recommend, and ways to perhaps fix things on my own. Not once did I ever feel like they were a gouge me or trick me! These people are extremely honest and real, and I will definitely be using them from now on. A good auto shop is rare enough. One where they're honest and cost effective as well? The only place I've ever found like that is Bake Auto Care. My wife and I used to live in Lake Forest and it was an easy drive to take our cars there. We've moved to the north Tustin area, so Bake is a lot less convenient now. Nevertheless we continue to make the drive because we believe in the quality and service they provide. Michael and Lazarus are good people--accommodating, hard working, and truthful. HONEST MECHANICS DO EXIST!!! I have taken my car to Bake Auto for several years now. It is a 2004 Toyota Solara with over 200K miles. Lazarus and Michael are both thorough and honest when giving estimates on repairs. Today my car only needed new front brakes and an oil change. However, Michael explained to me that my car will need new plugs, hose, and valve gasket replacement in about 10-20K miles since it is over 200K. None of that news was unexpected given the mileage. One of the reasons my car runs so good is because I make sure it gets the service it needs and I wouldn't trust anyone more than Bake Auto. You can rest assured that your car will be fixed right and with OEM parts. I have referred several of my friends and all of them are very happy with Bake Auto's service and reasonable prices. read more

Decided to come here for a smog test instead of going to my usual guy since this location was right next to my work, despite being about $15 more.. Convenience fee, right? When I dropped off my car, they said it'll be about half an hour to an hour, which I thought was strange. There was no other cars there and my last few smog checks were never that long. Whelp, my engine light was on, which was an auto fail. This was my fault; I should've remembered this little fact. The one star is for the fact that I cannot come back for a free retest like all my old smog places unless I get my car repaired here, but they charge a $95 fee to run a diagnostic!! $95!?!! Just to take a peek?! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa - I've never in my entire life paid for a diagnostic fee.. Anyway, took my car to Mission Viejo Transmission for a free diagnostic (the guys there laughed when I told them about the $95 charge and agreed that I should never have to pay for such a thing..) and after getting it fixed there, got a smog check at the 76 Auto Care on Trabuco and El Toro (they don't charge you if you fail your smog :D). Auto care shops are synonymous with dentists: you never really want to go to them unless you have to. Sure, with regular maintenance and routine check-ups, you can avert disaster - but finding someone you can actually place your trust in is often difficult. Especially when they give inflated estimates; all I see are $$$ signs. Here, I was pleasantly surprised. I had a simple smog check. I called the shop in advance and they gave me an estimate of the time and expense. I'd say they delivered spot on, and I was in and out within half an hour. Additionally, they honored their $10 off coupon service without my bringing it in. Moreover, they gave me a heads-up on any warning lights that may come on as a result of the smog-check. In short, I'd go here again. They were honest, competent and fast. Pretty nice if you ask me. I'd recommend them to a friend. read more

I particularly don't enjoy giving negative reviews. However, I felt compelled to do so with the hope that it will help others. I've been twice to this shop. The first time I realized I had paid a "little too much" for what was done. Bad on me for not researching. The 2nd time I went and was given a diagnostic that had nothing to do with the issue I was having with my car. Lazarus, the owner of the shop, quoted $750 to change my spark plugs on my 2003 Nissan Altima. Granted, the car is old and perhaps it was not a bad idea to change the spark plugs. However, it was not what was causing the issue with the car. I took the car to a shop next to Bake Auto. There I paid less than $400 to have the spark plugs replaced. Unfortunately, since I had already paid $95 at Bake Auto (for the diagnostic) I did not have this shop provide another one. That was my 2nd mistake. My issue turned out to be a faulty alternator. I believe that is something that should have been detected by Bake Auto. I'm reluctant to assume anything since I can't confirm the truth one way or the other but I can't help but to suspect that that was the plan all along. To sell services that were NOT really required with the purpose of squeezing as much money out of me as possible. I understand that people need to make a living - but PLEASE! At the end of the day greed is not GOOD. My advice to anyone reading this review is - DO YOUR RESEARCH. In fact, contact the other shops in that same area. Check out A+ AutoCare which is right next door. And again, do yourself a favor and try to understand what your issue is as best as possible. This will reduce the risk of paying for something that you simply don't need. read more

Where have these guys been all my life! And so close. I did a smog check. I called, they got me in ten minutes later, out the door in twenty. They honored their ten dollar coupon for the smog check. Nothing bad, nothing special. They were quick to deal with my car, which was just popping the encasing for my front right blinker back on. Cost me $20. They had to put it on the rack. And it took 15 minutes. I saw them checking my tire pressures and my fluids. Was recommended to do a transmission flush even though I, and my Toyota service manager, don't believe in them. Everything went smoothly. One of the guys who serviced my car wished me a nice day. That was nice. No pressure on any other repairs. Price was quoted before service. read more

Do not take an RV to this place. They do not have room for a large RV. Mike, who works in the office was nice, however the mechanic Lazerith I believe, was an absolute jerk. He was very dishonest. He would charge for things that didn't even leak. The price started at $78.00, but didn't end until he pushed it to $158.00. Much more to add, but you get the picture. I brought my car in for an alignment and balance. The guy wanted $150.00 for the job, but I manage to talk him down to $100.00. He wasn't very happy about the price nor with me for the fact. I KNEW I shouldn't have stay and let him and his mechanics work on my car. Well, after two hours I came back to pick up the car and was beyond angry. This guy and his "mechanic" not only destroyed my alignment in my car he didn't even remove my previous weight balance on my car. He just slapped a big chunk of weight in front of my tuner wheels, sprayed oil all over the side of my car, ripped open a chunk of my driver side weather strip, turn my air conditioner on full blast, last but definitely not least his mechanic must of smash my car for a joy ride before giving back to me. YOU CANNOT imagine the fustration I felt when I drove home. My steering wheel was shaking and swerve from left to right while trying to keep the car in a straight line. I could of not done anything because it was a $100.00 job and I did not want to make it into a scene so I just quitely left. After this ordeal my CV Axal Boot exploded and I had to completely replace all four of my wheels. and just so you guys know my car has only 60,000 original miles. read more
