These guys are very honest and provide an excellent service! I work in one of the offices opposite their shop, so just gave my car for an oil change. Lazarus said that he will go through the car and see if the car would need additional things like oil filter change, etc. He called me at work and explained everything to me like what needed to be replaced and gave the prices for each of them. Their rate was very fair for the complete job they did. I live in Menifee and travel to Lake Forest everyday for work, therefore need a very reliable car and will hereafter use their services for my car. Have waited a few weeks after the service to make sure no other issues surfaced. My SUV was throwing a couple codes (was also leaking oil). A search on a forum I learned there could be many different causes. I chose Bake Auto because they did a good job replacing a catalytic converter on my jeep...not an easy thing to do. And felt the price was fair. MY SUV was a much bigger problem. While I regularly change the oil, I am not the original owner. Lazrarus showed me the engine (after removing the valve covers and intake manifold). It was clear the engine had been poorly maintained before I got my mits on it. Bottom line, Bake Auto replaced the engine at a very reasonable price (I had "shopped" pricing for what they did on the forum). I read a few other reviews for Bake Auto and the negative ones reflect people who did not do their homework. And anyone who expects an accurate quote over the phone is living in lala land. read more

I found Bake Auto just like you...I checked Yelp, read some of the comments and decided to try them out. Well it's been a decade and I have been going to Bake with all my cars. It is a good honest shop and they will do what's best to solve any problem on your car small or big. Lazarus is a awesome auto Technician that has been around in the industry for years. Example, I broke down on the freeway (25 miles away from Bake) and had AAA tow me to an approved AAA Auto repair center. I mentioned that it might be the fuel pump but wanted the Tech to be sure. At my request I also had them replace the fuel filter and oil change. The shop called back said it is the fuel pump but also said I should have the ignition coil replaced and a major tune up (original manufacturing parts); I denied the tuneup but told the shop to go ahead and replace the coil. At $575 later, I picked up the car and it was worse off before the car stalled on the freeway. They said the car was running out of 4 cylinders not 6 and I should really consider the tune up. At that point a "RED FLAG" went between my ears & I said "NO". As I drove off I found out my AC was also bad; funny thing it worked before. I took it to Bake Auto and within a day Lazarus said that my ECU computer module had been damaged. Lazarus troubleshoot the problem down to the component level; ordered the parts; fixed my car and I was a happy camper. The car runs great and my AC works again. To say the least, I will have to go after the other Auto Repair for misdiagnosing my car problem in the 1st place. read more

From Bake going downhill towards Irvine/Trabuco, go past Capitol Drive and take your 1st driveway entrance. The entrance sign reads generically Auto Service Center but it's a bit low. Lazarus fixed the mysterious coolant leak on my 95 Firebird! I have a mechanical engineering degree and work on my car when time permits, but this was a tough one because I could not pinpoint the leak after removing everything from the front of the engine - water pump, alternator, hoses, ducts, solenoids, sensors, you name it. I took my daughter's car for a smog check, they did not pass the car and showed me a plastic hose fitting assembly that was not locking. They charged me for the smog and wanted to order a $300 VW part. They showed me the part in question and when I suggested the fixture would stay on securely with a zip tie the owner told me the repair wouldn't work. I asked him if I could do the repair myself and then he could retest. He said he knew that it needed the new part. Sensing that this guy was clueless on customer service I took the vehicle home installed the zip tie and took it to another smog facility where it passed fine. I called the owner and gave him a chance to offer some sort of compensation. He was rude and I figured not having to deal with him is worth the money I paid him. And yes he was charming at the beginning and when I questioned the repair he knew he didn't have a sucker to inflate the repair charges. read more
