I'm very surprised that it took me this long to leave a review for Bake Me Happy. I've been a happy customer of theirs for a while now, and will go every now and then for their baked goods and coffee. I don't have a gluten allergy, and love everything that I've tried here! My best friend who introduced me to BMH has an allergy and she's gotten everything from their custom cakes to their pretty awesome treats on display. Today I went to pick up their cold brew with strawberry nesquik YUM! And SO CUTE! We're my first impressions of this unique take on cold brew coffee. This was my second? third? Time here since COVID hit. They have online ordering available so that you can secure your items before waiting in line. They limit to 4 customer at a time so everyone can feel safe entering their space. Aside from their baked goods, they also sell a range of alcoholic beverages like bottles of wine and packs of beer, plus lots of frozen and pantry goodies too. They've definitely made their shop more resourceful even during a pandemic, which I love to see. The mini down side is that they seem to sell out fast when it comes to their baked goods. Means they're worth it tho if you can get them! I do know they also have a second location now at Bridgepark. I don't think that location does online orders but I did see they had LOTS of goodies even in the middle of a Saturday. We picked up a Cherry Pie for Thanksgiving Dessert. Didn't open the box until arriving home. The pie looked like it had been frozen, the filling was not fresh and 'wet' to the touch. So I absolutely love their products. I have celiac and have had it since 2012. But I don't fully follow the diet. But now that it's caused other issues for me. It's time to go back to fully going gluten free. So I looked up gluten free bakery's and found Bake Me Happy. I saw that I could order online. I ordered 5 oatmeal creme clouds(I just knew I was going to love this), 2 hot chocolate brookies(1 to share with my husband) and the pack of take and bake chippies. I've tried the first two items already and they are amazing. Honestly don't taste gluten free(dry and hard to swallow). It tastes like regular bakery items. They definitely have a regular now. The owner Letha and Wendy are killing it with this spot. A few stand outs that I just love: 1. Parking can sometimes be a bit of pain in the downtown areas but BMH has it's own little parking lot which is a huge plus when visiting this spot. 2. If you're not ordering pastries (although if you're not, you should really think twice because they are amazing) you can skip the sometimes long line and head over to the coffee counter and order right there. 3. Bring your kids. Not only will they love the treats but they have a little kids corner which includes some fun trinkets and toys, coloring books and crayons and little activities. 4. The space. It's so bright and friendly and warm. It's the kind of spot that just makes you feel happy when you're there. 5. Free Wi-Fi. Enough Said 6. The treats. Oh man. Bake Me Happy has the best treats. Decent gluten free bakery dedicated to making traditional replicas of glutinous baked goods. Overall I wish they were a little less sweet. I also wish they had different styles of cookies I don't care for their chocolate chip cookies they are just a thicker soft cookie that is alright not super satisfying maybe if it had more butter it would be a little tastier. I like the tollhouse type chocolate chip cookies that is a little gooey on the inside and crispy on the outside. My favorite is the chocolate ding dong that is really tasty! I also enjoyed the taste of the cream cheese frosted cookies however I wish they were a little thinner and smaller in size. I'd like to see cupcakes available in the fresh case because I don't need to buy 6 at a time. I ordered a mini pecan pie and a mini cherry pie for thanksgiving. The cherry pie was disappointing as others have noted. The cherries were sour, too little sugar and not enough of the cherry filling. It looked old and unappetizing unfortunately. I did not like the pie crust for the pies it's too hard, cracker-like that broke too easily and definitely not enough butter. The pecan pie was my favorite very good flavor a lot of pecans. I also tried some pumpkin roll, it was decent but I felt the spiced cream cheese filling was too much spice. I would have enjoyed it more with a plain cream cheese filling. The texture was pretty good though the pumpkin flavor was lacking a bit. Overall it's a bakery I frequent a few times a year when I want someone else to do the baking! read more

I have been scratching my brain about writing this review, because honestly, I have no idea how I am going to be able to explain how grateful I am for this wonderful establishment in words. As someone who is gluten free and dairy free, it is virtually impossible for me to find some place that I can eat pastries that match my dietary needs. My family is also gluten conscious, so we have a difficult time finding birthday cakes and celebratory goodies for family functions, so finding out that you can order GF goods from this wonderful store for social occasions was a very pleasant surprise! I've tried many things in their store - salted chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon sugar donut muffin (yum), coffee cake muffin, and rice crispy treats. But none of them come above my favorite thing I've eaten many times, first tried at Columbus Pride, is their Oatmeal Creme Pies. It's like heaven in a little oatmeal cookie, and really, nothing will ever be able to beat it. I'm not going to lie - I've heard great things about Bake Me Happy but always put them at the bottom of my list of places to try, because I don't follow a gluten free diet. I mean, how good can gluten free baked goods taste? Well, I was so so so wrong. Bake Me Happy is serving some of the best baked goods in Columbus, gluten free or not. We ordered two zebra cakes, a coffee cake, a lavender latte and a chocolate cupcake. Everything tasted great. I love that Bake Me Happy recreates old school snack cakes like zebra cakes. It was spot on and tasted like a zebra cake from my childhood with a thicker shell around the cake. The coffee cake was my favorite. It was moist and full of cinnamon and sugar. I'm really blown away by the entire experience. The employees were helpful and friendly. The inside has tons of tables and chairs to sit and enjoy. One tip: don't bring in any outside food or drink because it is a 100% gluten free establishment. Being sensitive to gluten and having friends with the same sensitivities means we are constantly on the hunt for good gluten free treats. I started following Bake Me Happy on Instagram and creeped on all of their photos and drooled over the photos. I finally had a reason to go. This place is less than 15 minutes from my work, it's tucked away off of parsons on Moler. There's ample street parking, however I'm sure it'll be harder to find parking as they gain popularity. The inside is cute and clean. I was promptly greeted and asked if he could prepare a drink for me. They stole my heart when I realized that their cold brew coffee only comes in a 20 oz for only $3! *shovels my money over to them* Looking over the treats, I may have slightly lost my mind. I ordered four oatmeal pies, three brownies, two rice krispy treats, three zebra cakes, two peanut butter cookies and a blueberry lemon pound cake. For 15 treats and a a cold brew my total was about $55. Well. Spent. My husband who typically scoffs at gluten free things gobbled his treats down without a complaint, and my friends raved about theirs as well. After seeing so many of my fellow Yelpers raving about this place, I finally stopped in on a Saturday around 1. There wasn't any of the fun stuff that I'd see people write about in their reviews, like bunts cakes, pop tarts, hand pies, etc. Guess ya gotta be an early bird to catch those worms. But I did try a cream cheese cut out cookie which was very melt in your mouth yummy and gave me a delicious glimpse at what awaits me in the future. Love everything about this bakery! The entire place is gluten free, but you would never be able to tell, the bakery items are all delicious! I definitely recommend the donut muffin, it tastes just like a fluffy snickerdoodle cookie. There's plenty of seating room and the decor is perfect. I like the chalk board paint on the support beams, it's a good way to advertise, and I love the cork board wall as well. I typically hate gluten free foods as they are hard, grainy and lack flavor. But I thought I would try it. These people need to open a chain!! The desserts were flavorful, moist and amazing! My daughter, who is NOT gluten free, loved her items more than regular food! I tried the Brookie, oatmeal pie and king dong so far. Each one is better than the next. I had no reaction at all to any of the items. Sometimes even with gluten free food I still will but not with anything that I have tried so far! Imagine if we had our own Hostess bakery here in Columbus. Sounds pretty good, right? Now, imagine that this bakery is certified gluten-free, but full of high-quality ingredients. Welp, this place exists: it's called Bake Me Happy. Owners Wendy and Letha are the dynamic duo who make this magic happen. Not only do they make delicious goodies, but they're also some of the sweetest people in the city (lame pun totally intended). The bakery is in Merion Village across from Southbend Tavern (which happens to be a fun dive gay bar, btw), and the space is beautiful! When you first enter the building, you're not inside the bakery -- it's the main lobby. This is a beautiful little spot with a few benches where you could enjoy your snacks. There isn't a ton of seating (it's a shared space; not the bakery's), so most people probably get theirs to go. I've sat here several times with friends, though, and had a delightful visit. Once you're inside the bakery, it's big, bold, and bright -- just like the treats. Most of the space is for the production kitchen, but they fit a ton of stuff into the small showcase up front. Some of the things you'll find are: -Spongies (like a Twinkie) -Oatmeal Creme Clouds (like an oatmeal cream pie) -Scones -Cookies -King Dong (like a ding dong) -pies -cakes -Crimson Cup coffee to wash it all down I've tried many of their baked goods (including a frozen pie crust to bake my own pumpkin pie), and everything has consistently been delicious. And not like "good for gluten-free" -- we're talking outstanding no matter if you're a wheat-eater or not. Their hours are a bit limited for now, so be sure to check before you head over. Next time we won't wait so late in the day to come here because I think they were out of most of the stuff that we were looking for. We ended up going with two coffee cake muffins and the lemon blueberry sour cream bundt cake. Tried both when we got home and they were both delicious. We were hoping to try a spongie but they didn't have any fresh or frozen and the creme brûlée cheesecake bars sounded magnificent. I also really like their 'suspend a coffee' idea. I've paid it forward to cars behind me in drive-thrus but I like that you can have your name on it so the person knows (by name only) who is buying their coffee. I also would have explored their frozen options a little more if I planned on being in town for more than just one more night. We will be back to try more of the menu! read more

My husband and I decided to come here on a Sunday morning after seeing pictures of the pop tarts from previous posts, and we were not disappointed! The poptart we ordered was the Everything Poptart--akin to an everything bagel, with a savory filling that perfectly complimented the topping. I had never tried a savory poptart before, but I can say that I would easily eat a family sized box of these. I ate it so fast I forgot to take a picture (Sorry!). I was skeptical, but then I tried one, and wow. The oatmeal creme pie is soft and filled with a marshmallow fluff--super rich, but incredible. I was also partial to the zebra cake and red velvet spongie (their take on Twinkies). The blondie was a tad too sweet, but let's be real, that's not really a complaint. Visited location today to inquire about a cake for my son's wedding on January 8, 2024 and as he is marrying a Celiac and her brother, also a Celiac, with a severe nut allergy, and this bakery is Celiac certified, I went in person to inquire about a cake and as I asked about a wedding cake, the girl behind the cashier without me finishing was stating we don't make wedding cakes and we don't take orders now!!! How is it that she was impatient with me! Maybe I walked in 45 minutes before closing time?? When I went on to ask if she could make a chocolate and red velvet round cakes for the occasion steering clear from labeling them a wedding cake, she jumped on me saying I would have to pay for 2 separate cakes!!! Horrible response. I then asked if she could show me the different sized cakes and she stopped me and says d it is best to go to the website & order from there! Again pretty rotten response!!! But I do believe that the worst part of the exchange was when she implied I was stressed when she was standing still and waving her arms in front of her face and apparently flustered, overwhelmed and incapable of assisting me! I wanted to place an order for a cake or cakes in advance of January 8 and do so because the holidays were approaching and instead I was told No, go to the web and told I was stressed!! Nice, relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Staff are very open and relaxed, but attentive. The scones are amazing and the coffee works. The lavender cold brew is a must. Of the four we tried I have no favorite scone (All GF BTW) because they are so delicious. A great place to start your Saturday morning off and only a short walk from Schiller Park. We went on a yelp tour and one of our stops was this amazing gluten free bakery. The owners were so nice. They took a ton of questions from the group and were always happy to answer every question. We tried several of their staple snack cakes, which were gluten free versions of oatmeal sandwich cookies, zebra cakes, Twinkies, and ding dongs (chocolate cakes). I am NOT a gluten free person! I love my gluten and usually bake goods suffer from removing the gluten. The staples they make are amazing. The texture was perfect to include the Twinkie. The flavor of each snack was exactly as you would expect them to be although I loved the oatmeal sandwich much better than the over processed one you buy in the store. While I do not stick to gluten-free foods, I have some friends and family who need to be gluten-free. As a result, I'm usually looking for a good source of gluten-free goods and gluten-free restaurants. A friend of mine who sticks to gluten-free foods suggested we try this place out, so we did. Bake Me Happy is somewhat small but this didn't seem to matter when I visited. We managed to get a table and quickly noticed there seems to be a lot of people ordering and taking their treats and coffee to go. I tried several items on my visit but two things stood out to me: their coffee and their oatmeal creme cloud. I grew up with Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies and loved them. Bake Me Happy's oatmeal creme cloud puts this to shame. The cookies are chewy and you can taste the oats in them. The "cloud" part of the cookie so light and fluffy you could almost eat it all day. There is on the street parking and a small parking lot on the corner. Be prepared to look for parking if they're busy. read more

So the first thing I thought of when it came to gluten free bakery was...WTF. Unless you are allergic to gluten, I don't get the hype. Normally because gluten free meant blah kinds of food. And I'm a foodie. Push ALL this inhibitions aside and get your butt to Bake Me Happy...it really did bake me happy! The coffee is a highlight for you caffeine lovers, but the baked goods are the stuff of dreams. I love the nostalgic of all the recreated children's favorites. The Oatmeal Cloud is insanely good, so are the zebra cakes, and the Moon Pies. I hate the normal moon pies from the south, but these moon pies at Bake Me Happy changed me. If you were going to be completely disciplined and not glutenous (get it...lol), I hands down suggest the Oatmeal Cloud. I've never made it in time to get a Spongie, but I look forward to the day when I can get one. Overall, I cannot say enough good things about this place.
