The beet and goat cheese is so creamy and yummy! They server continuously checked up on us to make sure we where doing good. Let me start off by saying this place is an absolute gem! Everything from the historic setting, the super friendly staff to the menu has been well thought out and wonderfully executed. Had to be in Deland for work and used Yelp to find a place to eat. I happily stumbled on this establishment! When I say this was the best burger I've had in years, I mean it. So much flavor and cooked to a perfect medium rare!!! Sweet potato fries were BOMB and to top it off they had Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand which is my fav!!!! I cannot speak highly enough about this restaurant. I adore the fact that the menu is primarily, if not entirely, locally sourced. As someone who's all about farm-to-table this is huge to me and what actually led us to eating there. The food is amazing and the head Chef is an absolute genius with pairing flavors, I'm quite envious. I got the Allicin Wonderland burger which was cooked to perfection. It's hard to get a rare burger, most places give you the tiniest bit of pink or just take it to well done. The onion straws paired with the French onion reduction and the gruyere with the garlic aioli danced on my tongue. My partner got The Boulevard chicken sandwich. I'm a total chicken snob and almost never order chicken at a restaurant because it's dry, this was the furthest thing from dry. I don't believe I've ever had a chicken breast that moist. The herbed goat cheese paired with the balsamic glaze was phenomenal. My partner chose sweet potato fries, again somethin I'm not a fan of but these twisted my brain because they were so good. Generally speaking sweet potato fries are sweet the moment they hit your tongue, these gave more of a potato vibe on the front end then the sweetness came on the back end with a carmelization taste that was surprisingly pleasant. The desserts were like a warm blanket wrapped around you. Their flavors sang of autumn. I got the pear/ginger creme brulee, the candied ginger on top was divine without the spicy kick of fresh ginger. My partner got the oatmeal cookie sandwich. You have no idea you're eating gluten free or vegan!!! As a Chef/Baker myself who loves working with special diets, I'm quite jealous that I haven't a clue how to reproduce this in my own kitchen. The cinnamon in the cookie plus the maple syrup took me back to maple weekends when I was stationed in upstate NY. As we had such a difficult time deciding on dessert we brought home a slice of the Chai Banana Jamma cake to share after supper because t contains pineapple (my partner's kryptonite) and it was that warm blanket all over again, the spices used reminded us both of zucchini bread. As a hater of most things coconut I was leery but it was amazing and made me think twice just like the sweet potato fries. The restaurant is quaint and you need to check in at the alley window to make sure there's seating which is pretty cool in my mind, I hate walking into crowded places to see if there's a table. There was no wait when we were there. Our server was friendly an on point. I love that they cash you out at your table rather than walking off with your card. The pride sticker on the front door, the pride flag above the inside of the door and the all gender bathroom made us feel safe which is a rarity for us in many places. We live whenever we end up anywhere that shows the smallest bit of pride but this felt like home. I'm also a huge fan now because their whisk/knife logo is the same as my tattoo lol. Really good food for a great price. This little gem in downtown Deltona is located in a little alley way - there is a parking lot and street parking throughout the downtown. I would say this place is new age American. The process to enter the restaurant is a bit weird - you need to check in with the coffee window before going inside, probably because the inside has limited waiting space. The dining room isn't too large and there's a bar area with four stools for seating. Christina was a great server. The hummus appetizer was amazing. It looked closed from the outside and had signs saying to go to the outdoor slide window to get seated? We waited until someone opened it up. She was just, Meh... and said it would be 30 minutes to get seated. We looked over the menu and left. No idea what the foods like, but if you can't present your place in an inviting way then you'll turn customers away before you get a chance to show them. Went here for brunch on a trip up to my aunts in Deland. Heard this place was great, and couldn't agree more. Being from Miami, we are flooded with trendy restaurants and overpriced eats, and Downtown Deland is quite a bit different from what I'm used to, but it was a really cool neighborhood and definitely a super dope spot to grab a bite. Everything was super fresh and delicious. I got the Left Handed burger, which was fitting given that I'm a lefty, with a side of blistered locally sourced peppers. My mom got the yeti (venison sausage) without marinara--which I tasted and liked, but would have preferred to try it first as it originally comes. Their seasonal sides change almost daily so there's always something new to try. I've literally never had a single thing that I didn't love. Most of the time, I'll just order 3 sides because they are so unique and delicious! For instance, Garlic Braised Cabbage, Roasted Cauliflower, Rosemary potatoes, Chick pea salad, and so much more. Pass Pass Pass. Visited the Bake Shop to try their coveted Left Hander Burger. Went with 3 other and here is what happened. I ordered the burger and Liza the steak sandwich, we also had 2 glasses of Pinot each... The Pinot was basic and they charged $10.00 a glass. So $40.00 for 4 Glasses( bottle was not available) I ordered the burger and Liza the Steal sandwich both with Onion rings ( an up sale from the waitress). Rings were burnt so I asked they be redone and they were burnt a 2nd time, when I told the waitress she shrugged her shoulders. We finished our meal and ordered a 2nd drink, not 2 minutes after served we we being asked if we wanted the check, we said we didn't know if we were done and she came back 3 times within 5 minutes. Server took Liza's glass 1/2 full and Liza had to say to wait as she was not finished. When we did get the check the amounts were totally off. We asked that it be correct and she seamed upset. Nice variety of 'handhelds' (aka sandwiches) with delicious spreads. My party enjoyed The catch 22 which was swordfish and delicious with options for a good side or a better side. Every time (4 years) I go to Bake Chop the service is great and the food is delicious. However, I have noticed that the children's menu is limited. My granddaughter always orders the fried chicken. The last few times that we have gone the breading on the chicken is overcooked and a dark brown as if the oil it is old (or too hot). This has been disappointing as it is her favorite meal there. I hope in the future when we go, her meal is more pleasing for her. read more
