I work an 8-6 shift on Sundays and can't leave... Today I forgot food. I've never ordered from Wake & Bake before but figured I'd give it a shot. I ordered the sausage, egg and cheese croissant for breakfast, veggie wrap for lunch, and donuts for the office. Everything came quick so it was warm and fresh (thanks to the Grubhub driver too). The croissant was a little burnt on the edges and the egg was just in the middle so I was skeptical but the sandwich was delicious! I did have to take the edges off but I'd order it again. The half dozen variety donuts were yummy too, even for my boss who usually chooses a particular popular donut store to order from. I was happily surprised that the veggie wrap on spinach tortilla was very good, too. The portions are just right so it was moist, but not too moist, and full of refreshing vegetables... Nothing fell out of the bottom either, which I particularly appreciate! I would've given 5 stars except for those burnt edges and no napkins. Genuinely one of the best donut shops I've ever been to. As an adult, it's hard to find a donut shop with freshly baked donuts that aren't too sweet and have a phenomenal texture even later in the day. The donuts were so wonderfully soft and moist on the inside but had a nice bite on the outside. The owner is also so sweet and kind. One of my go to guilty pleasures. Great donuts, great sandwiches. I typically get a ham, egg and cheese on a croissant. Someone complained about flavorless croissants? I haven't experienced that. Maybe they had a temporary loss of taste or something? I recently decided to try one of their kolaches as I've heard and read great reviews about them. I can't tell you how it tasted, as in a brief moment of distraction, I placed the wrapped kolache on my coffee table and stepped out of the room, only to return to a very happy dog wagging his tail faster than usual and a room covered in shredded wax paper. I can attest the kolache did *smell* amazing, though. As with pretty much any donut place, the economical way to go is to purchase a dozen and just share the extras. I thought they'd have actual Czech kolaches because they're a donut shop, but these are the ones with a sausage and croissant wrapped around it. Just started coming to this place since I moved to the neighborhood and I'm so thrilled to be just a block away from all this deliciousness! The staff is so friendly and kind and helped tailored my perfect cup of iced coffee that I didn't even know existed lol! On top of it they are constantly doing small acts of kindness for their patrons, it's been a pleasure and a high light of my day! Let's not forget about their amazing pup cups! They offer a wide variety of classic raised, cake, and filled donuts as well as bars, rolls, and kolaches. There is a full coffee menu too. The donut flavors are more traditional which I really liked. Got a half dozen raised donuts, a cake donut, and black coffee. Cake donut was outstanding! Crispy outside with a soft center, perfect for dunking in coffee. Icing was a little sweet but it is a donut. Coworkers loved the raised donuts as well, they didn't last long. The parking is a big tight but it's definitely ideal if you are stopping to pick up donuts and leaving. We brought our dogs and sat on the patio. It's been a donut dessert in south Denver with your only options being the grocery store or Donut House which aren't great or VooDoo which is overpriced garbage. This place has great bakery style donuts, freshly made in an amazing variety for a prize that makes sense for a donut. We have been three time since they opened! This used to be a Winchell's, but they've remodeled it and gone independent. I really like this shop, and the owner and workers are super nice. Their raised doughnuts are awesome -- can't go wrong with a simply glazed or chocolate frosted. Love that raised goodness. Their cake doughnuts are so-so, or at least have been for a while -- the devilsfood especially seems to be getting crispier and drier, which isn't great. The inside of the shop is much nicer post-remodeling, and they are super COVID aware. I trust them. They also now have a light roast and dark roast coffee option, which is good, too. All in all, a good local doughnut house, and well worth trying. read more
