SO SO GOOD! I haven't had a doughnut this good in awhile! We got breakfast sandwiches, great quality meats and egg, very filling. We got a dozen doughnuts, each one was great. I have to stress how good the raspberry filled glazed doughnut is, so so fluffy. I have yet to finish the rest but I am so excited to have found this place! So disappointed to find out they use Thomas bagels. It's expensive as is and I could just make a breakfast sandwich at home. The winchells that was at this location was amazing!!!!!!! I am a kolaches fan since my wife introduced them to me in Houston. So when I saw the sign for kolaches I was stoked. This is the first place I have seen in Denver that makes kolaches! Bad. Wildly bad. Unbelievably bad. So bad I'm writing a review bad. Espresso machine was down, so I ordered an iced coffee and a breakfast wrap. Iced coffee was given to me warm with no ice. I said "can you put some ice in this?", so the guy puts a couple cubes in and hands it back. The ice melted in like 30 seconds because the coffee he put it into was still warm. I figured he's probably just some dumb kid who can't make an iced coffee, it happens. The wrap came out. No seasoning on undercooked runny eggs and an over wrapped soggy spongy tortilla. Avoid. First time eating here, I got delivery through Grubhub. I loved it! The maple bacon bar was delicious, the best I've ever had. They use a whole strip of quality bacon, not bacon bits like some places. The donut was crispy fried on the outside but soft on the inside like a donut should be. Quick service yet friendly and patient with their customers as they choose from all the delicious options. Great coffee and the donuts are unreal. Oh yeah, it's all reasonably priced too. Found a new favorite quick breakfast spot in Denver! Wake & Bake does everything right ... they have a huge variety of donuts and sweet pastries, all of them amazing (the apple and blueberry fritters are both unreal). Their savory options like their breakfast sandwiches and kolaches (go for the jalapeño, sausage, and cheese) are equally amazing. And to top it all off, their coffee drinks are perfect and the staff couldn't be more friendly. Overall just an ok experience. The Boston creme pie doughnut had very little filling and kind of a odd bitter filling taste. The creme brulee doughnut just tasted like it had a burnt glaze on it. Nothing creme about that doughnut. Not a good doughnut. The blueberry fritter was good along with the french curler doughnut. Maple cake doughnut was fairly good. The oil they use to cook some of the doughnuts with tasted kind of processed leaving that processed after taste. The doughnuts were cooked well though. Maybe an off day with the oil?? Like to try a few others another time. Came back again early July and had a better experience. Oil tasted fresher/better and the cinnamon cake doughnut was excellent. My favorite doughnut there. The buttermilk doughnut is good, but the apple fritter was very oily/heavy and kind of bland. Plain cake doughnut pretty good. Overall, better experience this time around. Had an excellent first-time experience at wake and bake! We tried the coconut and chocolate raised donuts, the glazed twist, chocolate croissant, cheese kolache and hot link kolache. The coconut was not too sweet and added the perfect texture (especially if you're a coconut lover). The chocolate raised was a little more on the fudgy/eclair side of the chocolate-sphere lol, but still great. Because we were full, we saved the chocolate croissant for later in the afternoon for a snack and heated it up in the microwave- still excellent several hours later- a rich more pudding-like chocolate filling. Both kolaches were fantastic- definitely larger than the average donut shops. We got in before 9am with no line and only two customers waiting for orders. Took less than 10 mins total!
