They have both yeast and cake donuts with all the standard flavors and more from orange icing cake to glazed french crueller to chocolate eclair filled with bavarian cream. Wake & Bake had been on my list to try since they opened. I'm not in this area of town much other than for getting my hair done, which is always in the evening. So I decided to stop by on my way to work today since I had some flexibility on when I needed to arrive. Locally owned Baked N Denver took over the old Winchels on Broadway and Louisiana. Came here on a Sunday with the kids around 10am. Very busy but the wait was only 5 min. I wish I could give this spot a better review but it just did not meet my expectations. I stopped by to get some donuts and breakfast items for the day. I got a bit of everything, a jalapeño kolache, a breakfast wrap, a variety of donuts, and some juices. The savory items were good, only complaint is that it took 15 minutes for the two sandwiches, but I guess they make them to order. Still, a very long time to wait for a breakfast place. The juices were good as well, but again, they came out just a bit before our food (About 10 minutes for the carrot and orange juice). The biggest disappointment were the donuts, which surprised me because I had heard such great things. Most of the donuts were just okay, however the worst 3 were the "filled" donuts. I've attached a picture, but the maple eclair, lemon jelly, and pbj donut had a pitiful amount of filling. The donuts were either stodgy and undercooked, leaving no room for the filling, or just barely filled.
