Baker's Dozen has the best donuts in the Triangle area, hands down. We came across this little shop quite by accident - we stopped to get gas and decided to explore this hole-in-the-wall donut shop. We are so glad we did! We usually get half a dozen donuts, which costs $5.50. They have traditional yeasted donuts as well as cake donuts. Some of our favorites include the blueberry cake donut, the cinnamon sugar cake donut, the old fashioned and the buttermilk donut. Really - you can't go wrong. Every single donut we have tried has been delicious. We've heard from regulars that the bear claws are really good, though we have yet to try them because they are often sold out by the time we get the shop on weekends. If you want to have the best selection, I recommend that you visit as early as possible in the morning. They open at 5:30 AM. We highly recommend Baker's Dozen and can't wait to visit again soon.

I first encountered Baker's Dozen at the Raleigh Location on Capital Boulevard when I was in a pinch and needed to pick up doughnuts for work for my team. It reminded me of Davis Doughnuts in Durham that was a staple in the community when I was a kid but it's been closed for some time. The doughnuts are like pillows of yumminess. They're soft, fluffy and heavenly. These are by far the best doughnuts in town and highly recommend them to any doughnut lover.

    Quite the lineup.

Only one word comes to mind and that is "supreme", When I think of the dough, glaze, and fluffy cream. The Bakers Dozen doughnuts are the product of dreams, I had so much drool, my clothes needed a steam. I couldn't believe a place this good was attached to a gas station. It's the definition of a true hidden gem. Bakers Dozen had the best glazed old fashioned doughnuts that I have ever tasted. They were moist with a great texture, and bursting with sweet, satisfying flavor. The raised doughnuts were ok too, and the coffee had a nice, robust aroma and taste. This is going to be a "must stop" for me every time I visit Durham.

These donuts are always fresh and delicious every time I get them. I also think that they are the most affordable donuts around. The blueberry cake donut is out of this world good, and I'm also a huge fan of the regular glazed donut. Not pictures, but there Apple fritters are also fantastic!

I made a reservation for 6:30pm on a Friday. I recognize sometimes exact reservation times cannot be honored but I was a little concerned at how slow the service was and how crowded the already small space was. They could not really give us an idea of when we would be sat and so we had to just kind of shuffle around to keep trying to be out of the way. It took about 15 minutes before a table finally opened up and we were able to sit. From there, the service continued to be slow. I know the staff - both servers and kitchen - were working hard. I don't blame them as much as it feels like they are understaffed and stretched thin. Overall, it took a while for us to get our food, and we were all hangry by the time we had food. The servers were running around so it took a while whenever we needed something or ran out of water. The food itself surprised me. I know the menu was small and curated but I was actually surprised how little variety there was. And I don't know if I would consider this a vegan/vegetarian friendly place anymore. While they do have dishes and options, it is minimal. I got the pork and mushroom dumplings, pork bao bun, onigiri, and the housemade belt noodles. Both the dumplings and belt noodles were coated in a chili oil that made them almost inedible. And I like spicy! But this was too much. My favorite was the onigiri. Overall, between wait, service, quality, and price, I do not think I will be back.

We went during early lunch hours. It is busy here, seems like a locals favorite for brunch. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor patio is beautifully decorated. The bakery shop sold alot of in house food products such as housed German sausages and jam. Also local made beverages;the kombucha "Lavendar Dreams" is light and refreshing to drink etc.. I tried the chocolate croissant (crisp but not too crispy, chocolate stuffed filling not jam) and the ham and cheese pretzel( delicous pretzel:ate everything;bread part is savory and soft). Our first visit here I'd say this place makes a great brunch place. You can either stop by for breakfast, lunch or a light snack from the bakery shop. Service wasnt the best here. We informed the cashier that it was our first time here. Knowing that, they kept on stating is that all?.. Everytime am asking about a item and deciding what to try. I understand it is rush hour and can get busy but I felt truly rushed.

When I order a box, I order it plain and then add my own fixings at home. My box creations can make up to three meals. I've begun adding my own fixings to their biscuits too. I'm pleased with Rise's pricing, regular coupon offers for loyalty members, and a reward point system that's easy to track. They've recently sent out coupons in those coupon clipper mailers and I found they carry great value. This Rise location (like their location in Chapel Hill) caters primarily to takeout clients. There are some bar tables and outdoor patio seats if you want to eat on site. I'm a takeout client myself (as I hinted above) and prefer building on top of what I order. Rise's biscuits can't be beat. They are flaky, fluffy, and reheat well. My tips for reheating: - Microwave: Lightly sprinkle water on the open faces of your biscuit (not the hard crust) and cover before microwaving. - Air fryer: Use the "Reheat" setting and reheat your biscuit at 325º for 4-5 minutes.
