As a Bolivian myself, I'm always on the lookout for dishes that remind me of home. I had the silpancho, which was cooked to perfection. The peach drink was a delightful pairing. I also tried the empanada de queso and the huminta al horno, that really hit the spot. While I found the treats to be decent, they were not quite as memorable as the savory meal. That said, it is all a matter of preference, I have had some that were a bit better. Nevertheless, if I find myself in the area again, I would not hesitate to stop by for a delish meal. Note: Service was ok, from the looks of it many just order takeout.
This Bolivian restaurant is a hidden gem! The place suffers from a bad business name but don't be fooled. The food here is to die for. I've been a regular at this place for a while! If you don't know what to order, here is my recommendation for your first try. Get Silpancho which is thinly rolled beef fried with bread crumps served on oiled up rice, slices of potatoes, eggs and onion, tomato combo to bring some balance. This dish is so good that I have to keep coming back. I also like the fact that every time I came, the taste is exactly the same - super consistent. Just beware, the portion is HUGE! If you don't eat a lot, this can easily be two meals. Pair it with freshly made Horchata drink! Then get Alfajores for dessert. Amazing food! The place is quite small so I wouldn't bring a big party. I'd be surprised if they can serve 15 customers comfortably. The decor is also not there but I'm not really complaining here. This is not that kind of restaurant. You come here for the authentic food. Communication could be a challenge as I found not all waitresses speak fluent English. However, that shouldn't matter after you read this review because you already know what to order! I bet your foodie azs you gon enjoy this gem! lol
First time at this local gem. Arrived after lunch and the seating area was still full. The ladies who helped us were knowledgeable and kind. The woman at the counter offered us menus as we waited and ushered us to a table. Ultimately we ordered Lomo saltado, beef Salteña, and horchata. Guys, the food was really good! As good as the pictures are, they can't tell you how the dishes were seasoned perfectly. The Lomo saltado was the perfect mixture of steak, onions, tomato and peppers all over crispy fried potatoes, served with white rice. The beef mixture of the Salteña was flavorful and I enjoyed the light sweetness of the bread covering of the pie. The horchata delicious but is sold by the glass, with no free refills. But the people were friendly and I can't wait to go back and try some other dishes.
This was the second time I've been here and it does not disappoint. My wife and I were initially recommended this place when we were in the are and wanted a quick bite to eat. Pulling up it is located off a main road an a busy strip mall so parking can get a little difficult to find. When you enter its a tight fit with a bunch of smaller tables and just a long counter for them to display their daily offerings. When we arrived my wife and I tried their saltenas, alfajore and Gyro sandwich. We ordered one chicken and one beef saltena they were fresh made and fairly hot when we tried to eat. They are served with a spicy green sauce that pairs well with them. Biting in they were very delicious, filled with potatoes meat juices and veggies. The dough is nice and thick and has a good flavor. If you are ever on the lookout for good bolivian saltenas this has to be a place to try. We also get the gyro sandwich, and while opening it up it did not look super appealing but once I took a bite I was surprisingly mistaken. It probably thelp that they are right next to a halal market to get the lamb from but it was super tasty combined with the veggies, pita, and feta cheese on top I would definitely not sleep on this offering. We also ordered the alfajore which if I'm being honest was not my favorite but definitely not the worst I've ever had. Suffice it to say we will be traveling back to try some of their entrees!
Love love the saltenas here. I honestly come and get them all the time and they never let me down. Chicken is my go to and I love it. You can even call ahead to reserve some since they tend to run out and once you can be there in reasonable time they will hold them for you. The people here are also very lovely and they have lots of desserts and a full menu that you can choose from.
A really good small locally owned place. They have a really good clean refreshing horchata!! So comes to find out this is a Bolivian restaurant! So they have things like paella which is a moist saturated with flavors with sausages and lots of seafood and they also have I think it's called saltenas(?) it's a small stew in a pie form. Lots of beef, potatoe, other veggies and (an egg I think) the service is great! She will ask you what you like and give feedbacks on what's good! Overall very great place! I highly recommend you try it out!
6/4/22 Another place my wife introduced me to. This place has been here ten years and today is my first time here. I ordered the patty double cheeseburger even though it is called a double patty hamburger and it comes with cheese. The bacon wasn't included in my ordered, but my wife doesn't like it when I eat pork. "No pork for me." The place went through waves of guests getting orders, but the managers and cooks got it done. My wife's order did not come out right, but the problem was quickly fixed with an apology. The food is good, but there is one big problem. We did not have enough room for dessert. We will have to come back here to try a dessert of the menu. We will do so soon.

Carne salteñas with Verde sauce. This is my go-to spot for this wonderful hand held treat. My co-workers got me on this place after bringing some to work. The interior is small and I doubt I would eat in only bc the tables are super close together. Ordering is quick and easy but the parking lot is tight. It's an older complex and the parking doesn't really flow. However, none of that is a deterrent to going. read more

I am always looking for great salteñas. I came across some reviews that mentioned that this place had salteñas, I had to try them. I wasn't sure what to think when I arrived. It is a very small space. It looked cramped and uninviting. I took my kids for lunch, and they weren't sure they wanted to stay. I convinced them to give it a try and I am glad that I did. My daughter and I ate the chicken salteñas. They filled a craving. I enjoyed the lovely, juicy filling. It is nice to know I can get a decent salteña close to my house. My son ordered the special; asado criollo. He ate the entire plate. To say he enjoyed it would be an understatement. I ordered the pavita off of the sandwich menu. It was huge with a generous portion of papas fritas. I could have easily shared it. It was a chicken salad with fresh lettuce and tomato on a nice roll. It was swimming in mayo, but had a nice flavor. We were given tres leches cake for dessert. It was ok. I ordered some alfajores for the road. When I tucked in later that night, I opened the box to find massive alfajores! It was hard to eat one! They were delightful. I would order them again. We plan to go back and try more menu items. read more

SALTENAS!!! Order ahead, get them fresh and make sure you order some extras to take home...let these puppies sit in the fridge and marinate in its own freaking awesomeness (awesomeness = fresh meats, fresh sauce and savory spices)...because once these babies have sat for about a day, the saltenas were even tastier than when i had them while they were fresh. I've dined in and taken out - The salchipapas are fun :) The staff even looked at us funny when we wanted to order it...he goes "But it's jess hatdowgs and frensh freyess" I am fully aware, and it sounds delicous! :) Where else can you get randomly cut up hot dogs and french fries in a plate? Sure, at home, but we all know - it's not the same!!! After digging into the Salchipapas, we ordered the pork tacos - SOOOO GOOD. Well marinated meat, fresh tomatillo and beans. It also came with rice! The rice alone had some flavor to it...delicious. But for the love of everyone's mom...please try the Saltenas, be smart, don't text and drive...well be smarter and order ahead :D They have a lot of specials and i plan on coming back. Big frickin' YES to this wonderful place. This small store is located off of Lee Highway across the street from Walmart. There's a couple tables inside and a nice, big display of desserts and bakery foods. I have only tried the Chicken and Beef saltenas here but it was delicious. A messy, crispy, savory pastry bread filled with flavorful stew-like sweet and spicy sauce with vegetables like peas, potatoes and eggs. I enjoyed both flavors and they were huge portion sizes for $2.65 each. I was feeling full after eating one saltena. Unfortunately I came around 8 on a Saturday night and they told me they were out of saltenas so you might have to come early in the day if you want some. I will be coming back to try the salchipapas, lomo saltado, silpancho and definitely have to get the tres leches cake. Quick service, helpful and nice employees and great prices. Must try!! read more

It's very hard to have a bad salteña. Anywhere you go they are very much enjoyable so you're left with judging which Bolivian spot has a slight edge over the other. I personally prefer my salteñas a bit soupier than what I had here because you're left with a less dry after-taste, but the sweetness of the meat played a big role in giving their salteña its own charm. Overall, not a bad place to fulfill your salteña craving. read more
I've had this place bookmarked for a while and finally decided to stop by. I dined in and got the lomo saltado which was good. They load on the beef, onions, and some tomatoes over a bed of fries. They seem to have a good weekday special between 10am-3pm. I will come back to try some of their bread and bakery items, but from a quick peek they had some cakes, baklava, churro, and other treats. Employees were nice. Seems to be more of a to-go place since the dining area is small with limited seating. read more

3.5 to 4 stars. The service was fairly quick and the food was great! The highlights are definitely the sandwiches and the desserts. As this place is a mix of a bunch of different South America tastes you can't go wrong. Portion size is "Asian large". (I had to take the second half of the sandwich as to-go) Drawbacks: Google directions are whack...just keep going all the way to jermanetown. Or look up viet house. The place is nice and cozy for a light dinner and definitely has a home feel to it. This would probably be a place to take a girl after you guys been dating for more than 3 months or just a simple meeting with friends. They service with a smile :) read more
Came with my sister and her boyfriend, had heard good things about this small place. I ordered the Pollo Saltado, Chicken Salteña, and had a Horchata. The Pollo Saltado dish was a bit saltier than I liked, though it was still very good. My sister had asked for the yellow sauce for me to try with the dish, but they apparently only have the green sauce. The Chicken Salteña was good too, although I'm not a fan of dense bread (the filling was very good though). The Horchata was nice as well, the first time I've tried it. I liked looking at all of their bakery options, will have to come back when I'm in the area. read more
This place is a small hole in the wall, wouldn't have expected a small bakery&bread place to have SUCH GOOD FOOD. Their salteñas were AMAZING. This was the first time I ever tried salteñas and I think I am truly obsessed with this new found gem. I got the silpancho not knowing what to expect, but wow, it was so large that it barely fit on the plate. The thin beef with rice and eggs was amazing. Before me and my bf left the store we picked up some napoleons and cream filled cones for dessert. And I couldn't have been a more excited to open them the first thing I went home. This place was an amazing experience at my first try at Bolivian food, and I would definitely come back because everything here was so GOOD. read more
Discovered this place on Amazon Local and decided to buy the deal and try it out. I ordered the silpancho and was surprised at how big the portion was! I loved the combination of the steak, tomatoes, and eggs. So flavorful! I came here for a second time to try the saltenas since it was highly recommended on yelp. At first bite, it thought the crust was way too doughy and sweet for me. But the inside is delicious! I had to knock off a star due to service: I came here the second time to get an order of saltenas to go. The workers at the cashier completely ignored me while they were talking to each other (probably a new hire still training). Regardless, I had to jump in and asked to order which is not great customer service on their part. read more
Bakery, Bread & Grill is located inside the Jermantown Plaza (across from Walmart; next to the NY pizza place). I am thinking they are sister companies with the Pan American Bakery & Grill, as their menu is pretty much identical (and share the same website). The menu offers baked goods (cakes, mousses, and customized cakes), breads (cheese rolls, custard-filled, and other pans), and grilled items (silpanchos, pique machos, parrilladas, etc.). I ordered a chicken saltena and a small horchata to go. The staff here are very welcoming and friendly, and the order took about 5 minutes or so. The saltena was the standard size, but it was very hot and fresh. The exterior was sweet, but crunchy, and definitely not soggy in the bit. The filling was filled with hot broth, dark chicken slices, and veggies - it had a very nice spicy kick to it, and the broth itself was definitely very flavorful compared to other saltenas I've tried. The only thing was that it was mostly broth and less meat/veggies. Both my husband and I were not fans of the horchata, as it tasted like warm milk with a sprinkle of cinnamon - it wasn't refreshing, and it wasn't anything near to what an horchata should taste like (quite disappointing). There was a sample of a lemon cream cake - that was actually pretty delicious, as it was moist, whipped/creamy-ish, and had a subtle taste of lemon. +chicken saltenas (more broth than meat/veggies) +avoid the horchata! +delicious customizable cakes (ask for samples!) read more
I'm a huge fan of their lunches! It's only $9.99 (comes with a drink too) Monday-Friday's and they have different lunch items everyday. So far, I've tried their Asada Criollo and their Paella. Both were delicious.. I can't wait to try more of their lunch items out! I've eaten their saltenas too (only their chicken one though) and I thought it was a little too sweet for my taste but still decent. read more

The food here was sooooo good. We got the seafood fiesta and the saltado de polla (without the beer saute). It was delicious. My kids ate it all up, even the seafood. I can't wait to try it again. Tried it again, got the seafood paella, steak sandwhich, and cheese empanada. My kids almost finished all of it for me, everything again was delicious. read more

Had the beef saltenha, basically it's like a beef pot pie, little to the sweet side...it was good but not great. Also ordered the Lengua special, a stewed beef tongue dish with a lot of flavor! The sauce reminded me of my childhood days that I spent in South America. Also ordered the Milanesa Napolitana...Humm the beef was a little too thing and dry...however, I'll surely go back because overall speaking, the authentic taste is there! read more

The Good: -Their baked goods are basically the shiznit and how they earn their stars! -The owner's Bolivian but they randomly have Korean Bulgogi on the menu -The Pao De Queijo (Brazilian name) or Cunape (Bolivian name) is bangin' -Clean and well maintained and goes against the stereotypical hole-in-the-wall image of these types of places.. yet food is good. -Friendly service -Grilled steak I ordered was cooked just right, eggs were also cooked perfectly. -They use Jasmine rice, my favorite type of rice. -Huge portions The Bad: -The steak dish I got was under seasoned. -I didn't eat much of the french fries served with my dish b/c they put the steak and tomato sauce on top and I like my french fries crispy -The salad was no bueno Go for baked goods like cheese bread, tres de leches and Bolivian Saltenas. read more

Got a carryout for lunch here and the beef saltenas were AMAZING. The dough is perfectly baked and delicious. It was nicely browned on the outside and soft on the inside. The beef was tender and flavorful. There was a good amount of potatoes, beef, and sauce. There was also some small hard-boiled egg which was a tasty surprise! Honestly, the beef saltena was enough on its own to earn this place 5 stars. And for $3 per saltena, this is such a great value! We also ordered the humita cornbread which was very tasty too. The bread was very moist and not sticky like American cornbread. It was more crumbly too. We also got this cheesy bread item that apparently has banana in it. I don't know that I tasted any banana but it was still yummy! It was pretty oily and salty so I could only eat a small piece. I'd only recommend it if you want something that tastes unhealthy but yummy. read more

A recently opened bakery and breakfast/lunch spot. We stopped by on a whim and are very happy we did. The baked goods we tried (brownies, shortbread cookies, and tres leches cake) were all delicious. Prices are really good on the cakes - coming in about the same price as you'd pay at Wegmans, for a much better cake. I highly recommend the tres leches cake. The shortbread cookies they offered my children for free were quite possibly the best shortbread cookies I've ever had. I'll definitely be going back. read more

I would have given 5 stars before, but prices increased by 25-30% in past 2 years with food portions getting smaller. Unfortunately it seems this is standard across all Bolivian restaurants. read more

First time eating salteñas and I enjoyed them a lot! I ended up leaving with both chicken and beef, but I recommend the beef! The salteñas dough is also really good. I also enjoyed the alfajor I ordered. Check them out if In the area! read more
