It was nearly two years ago I tried to visit the del ray location but it was raining and at the time they couldn't be open in those conditions, so it was fitting to visit the mosaic location and eat comfortably outside, as it rained. The decor is vibrant and inviting. We tried a variety of food: sharp dressed man, Baja taco, walking taco, and half pound pork ribs. The margarita was good and he liked the beer selection. My favorite parts were the cinco de mayo specials for drinks and the sharp dressed man. Didn't love the total price at the end but would certainly do any specials or HH.

I stumbled into this place as it used to be the red apron. The owners are the same but this is their new concept. I love tex mex but many places are not good. I came for lunch and got the brisket nachos and a margarita. The nachos were huge portion but the brisket was moist and tender. The margarita was tasty but small for the price tag. Since I came on weekday, there was only a few people inside. The server behind the register was very helpful and even bussed table. I am happy I came in and will definitely be back with friends.

A group of friends and I came here around 5:30 on a Thursday evening. The girl that runs our dinner group had tried to call in advance to make a reservation since we had roughly 7-10 people coming in our group. She was put on hold before someone hung up on her. When she called back all the person could give her was an "I'm sorry." The service started off okay and when we placed food and drink orders it came fairly quickly. After our food and first round of drinks arrived, service went down hill. In the groups opinion, they seemed overwhelmed hence the poor service at the end. Food and cocktails were great! I ordered three tacos: 1) Sweet Potato Al Pastor 2) taco night in America 3) yard bird taco. (Also in order of which ones I liked best). Overall, food and drinks were delicious, but service could've been better.

Dinner on the early side, so the restaurant wasn't crowded yet. It's an order-at-the-counter kind of place, then pick a booth. Tables have a refillable water bottle and a few cups, as well as a stack of napkins. Ambiance is fine. You can see the food prep area and there were some counter seats along that area. Service was friendly and fast. I asked for some recommendations and as the worker shared his favorites, it hit me that I was in a bbq place but couldn't smell a whiff of it. That seemed really odd to me, like maybe the meats were smoked elsewhere? We ordered the chips and queso ($9), which was lukewarm although it had good flavor (hotter would have been way better). I had the 1/4 lb. chopped brisket ($21) that came with rice, beans and three corn tortillas, as well as pickled peppers and onions, a creamy salsa verde, and crema. The beef was fine, nothing amazing and again with no bbq scent. Rice and beans were smoky and had a lot of flavor. Portion size is average, not overly generous but not wasteful. The place started filling up around 7 pm and we saw lots of carry out orders heading out throughout our time there.

We had high hopes but everything about our visit fell flat. The ordering system was confusing, employees were apathetic at best when they actually paid us attention, the dining space was cluttered with boxes, and the food was just unappetizing. For a cuisine that should be full of flavor, this had none. I'm usually willing to give new spots a second try as they work out the kinks, but I don't really want to return here. I hate writing these kinds of reviews, but this one felt necessary.

This place has the best smash burger you will ever have. The service never disappoints specifically Zach and Sam always bring kind and attentive energy. Zach has served us more than once and is always spot on to what we need. The drinks are phenomenal and overall if you looking for a place with good food a chill ambiance that gives a speak easy vibe this is the one.

Not too busy, fun atmosphere, good service, decent food. They got my friend's order wrong but managed it very well by correcting it, apologized for the mistake, great attitudes, and actually taking it off the bill. All our food was cold so that was unexpected, with the exception of a hot Birria burrito. It was surprising that the rice, beans, and consommé were cold too. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The fries were hot, crispy, and salty. Chips and queso, chips are on the thicker side, a tiny bit stale but edible. Not something you can't stop munching on. The Birria burrito was warm and pretty good. Overall nice experience and would probably get better as they get more into the grove.

Food was rather tasty. Guac and margarita were solid. Love the bbq meets Tex-mex concept. Hope this spot makes it. Will be back.

The BBQ here was ok, nothing stood out about it. Pretty bland and sauces were ok. Would not return unless they improve.

You see, sometimes the quality does matter and quantity is something that is overrated. Meokja Meokja demonstrates that at times quality trumps quantity in Kbbq. The cuts of the meat were all very fresh. I especially enjoyed the beef brisket. It was very tender. A lot of the times at AYCE Kbbq, the beef brisket can be quite dry. Not the case here. The waitress cooked all of our food, which is something I haven't truly appreciated in a while. It does make the food a bit more enjoyable when I don't have to do all the work. This restaurant is not super big. It was already borderline packed despite that we went there right when it opened. My friend told me there is one time they waited almost an hour at 9PM. So I would definitely get here early to avoid a long wait. While I had always been a loyal fan of AYCE Kbbq, I have found myself over the recent years slowly being tipped over towards the a la carte territory. Meokja Meokja has been the tipping point that finally swayed me over. The price here is about the same as AYCE, but with better quality, and I don't feel like trash after finishing the meal. Overall, AYCE Kbbq can be a messy affair, but I felt very clean and satisfied after eating here. A very solid Kbbq meal that I haven't had in a while.

Unlike other KBBQ spots, it's not AYCE. Instead, you order combos or a la carte meats, which highlights the quality of what you're getting! For our meal, we ordered a feast of the Chosun Hwaro Combo (Medium), Baekdusan bulgogi, japchae, and bibim naengmyun. The meat quality here is extremely PREMIUM and every bite was super juicy, tender, and packed with flavor! I cannot stop thinking about the Baekdusan bulgogi because it was truly a savory MEAT MOUNTAIN. Our kind server gave us a pro tip to mix the sauce with rice. That completely changed the dish for me! The sauce soaking into the rice made it unbelievably rich and satisfying. I loved that the combos come with steamed egg and soybean paste stew, which were comforting sides alongside all the grilled meat and ban chan (kimchi, radish, etc) already at the table. As for my noodle dishes, I usually never order japchae, but I did and this one ended up being the best japchae of my life. It was PACKED with so many flavorful meat and vegetable toppings. To finish the meal, we got bibim naengmyun, which is my favorite Korean cold noodle dish. It was so refreshing, chewy, and the perfect way to balance out all the grilled meats. Between the amazing high-quality meats, entrees, and thoughtful service, Chosun Hwaro was a memorable meal and definitely a spot I'd return to whenever I'm craving delicious Korean BBQ in Virginia!!

We ordered lots of appetizers to start including the dumplings and the assorted jeon. Both were great and were generously sized portions suited for our table of nine. For meats, we went with two set menus - one Chosun Hwaro Party Platter and one Chosun Hwaro Pork combo. Overall, the meats were good quality. I never really knew what cut I was eating and would often ask the server to identify the cuts. All grilled meats were cooked well and tasty though! This was my first time here, so I'm not sure if this is the norm, but I felt like we repeatedly had to ask for sauces, side dishes, etc. I'm not sure if meats normally aren't served with sauce, here, but most Korean bbq places I've been to would serve them without us having to ask. This made the experience a little less enjoyable as far as service goes.

Food was a mixed bag. We started with the yuk hae and mandu, which were solid but not particularly memorable. A note for the mandu was that it came out soggy and sat in water which was a bit disappointing for the price point. The meat quality was excellent though, with great marbling throughout the meal. The banchan leaned lighter in seasoning than I'm used to, but the broccoli and marinated quail eggs were standouts. I also appreciated the variety of salts served alongside the meats. My favorite was the volcanic salt! Service was where things fell short. We felt rushed or almost transaction for most of the meal, and it seemed like closing duties took priority over the guest experience. Tea refills took a while, banchan refills had to be requested multiple times, and there wasn't much guidance throughout the grilling experience. We had to ask what cuts we were eating and what each salt was. At this price point, I expect a little more storytelling and attention to detail. The grill also ran extremely hot, making it easy for some cuts to cook past our preferred temperature and constant smoke blew into the middle seat's face. A few tips: don't wear your nicest clothes because the ventilation isn't on the same level as Seoul Prime or Ingle. Make a reservation if you want a grill table, and don't be afraid to ask for banchan refills!! Would I come back for Korean BBQ? Probably not. I'd personally choose Seoul Prime or Ingle. That said, I saw several main dishes that looked promising, and I'd be open to giving the restaurant another shot. The foundation is there, but for the price and the hype, I think the overall experience needs a bit more refinement.
