I have been making special trips to buy twice baked croissants from this place for 4 years, and two other locations for years before that. They were usually always amazing, 5 stars amazing! Lately, the last 6-9 months maybe, the twice baked almond croissants have been really dark on the edges. Today, every one I got was practically burnt. I'm so disappointed!! Every time I go, I ask for the lightest ones now because they have been so dark along the ends. The lady was kind enough to add an extra today, to make up for the over done edges but even so, eating it left a bitter taste in my mouth as ends were clearly burnt. I hope they can figure this out soon. It says "Passion for Baking" on the website but this product does not reflect that at all. read more

I'm so glad they have they great place in Burien. This place is definitely a treat, do not go here if you're on a diet, because you will want to get one of everything. Super hard to resist and just pick one. There's plenty of savory and/or sweet treats. I tried the cinnamon roll and it was pretty good, especially when it's warmed up. I'm mostly writing this as a review for the declining service at the Burien location. The general snark of many of the employees I've come to expect since their popularity is such that they seem to know people will tolerate the attitude. But in addition I've been trying to place a birthday cake order for 2 days as it's a requirement for 48 hrs notice. No one answers or calls you back the VM directs you to the website but when you click on the calendar you only have the option to order 5 days out. Sadly I'll have to slog down there Sunday morning and hope they have what I need as they seem to not want to take any orders over the phone. We ordered a couple of hundred dollars of baked goods for thanksgiving and the service was just as bad served up with enough attitude that we almost stoped going here. Normally I don't like croissants or flaky pastries, but the twice baked almond croissant from Bakery Nouveau might be the BEST THING I'VE EVER ATE! The original Bakery Nouveau is in West Seattle, but this is their location I believe (they also have another location in Capitol Hill which is the one I usually go to). I came here for coffee and a croissant and the line was out the door. It took me about 15 minutes to get inside, but the people in line were all very friendly and so time flew by fast. The guy in front of me took the last twice baked almond croissant in the case, and so I thought I might have to go with the twice baked chocolate almond croissant (which is good, but I prefer the simple almond). Luckily though, they had more croissants coming fresh out of the oven in five minutes, and so I think I was the real winner in this case. I also ordered a 12 oz iced latte with light ice. Service was amazing. The cashier was super friendly and told us that she'd have our croissant ready ASAP and to just stick around. Once she got our croissant, she told us to eat it like right then. And she wasn't kidding. The ooey gooey, buttery inside with melted almond paste and a crispy exterior was like heaven in my mouth. My serotonin levels just shot up after one bite. The latte complemented the sweetness perfectly and was very smooth. Note that parking is very limited at this location, but I was fortunate to get one of two of their parking spots in their lot. As I was leaving, the cashier, who was going on break, waved bye to me and told me to have a wonderful Sunday and to enjoy my croissant! The price has gone up a lot since COVID!!! I can't believe it costs so much for a slice of cake. Even so, we want to continue supporting a local business and keeps on returning. We LOVE Bakery Nouveau! We stopped in on Friday afternoon and picked up a piece of carrot cake as well as a paczki, a Polish "donut" (pronounced "pob-ski"). Unlike American donuts paczki don't have any "donut holes". They're big, round, split horizontally, and filled. We opted for one filled with custard and strawberries. While we were able to resist tucking into the carrot cake until Saturday afternoon, the paczki didn't make it long. In fact, it became a dinner appetizer, and was it tasty! Likewise, the carrot cake was quite good with its cream cheese frosting between layers and the top layer encrusted with coconut. Bakery Nouveau has everything from macarons to cakes, pies, popovers, bread of all descriptions and very good sandwiches. This location is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, so plan ahead but do put it on your "must try" list if you haven't already. read more

What ISN'T good here?? If it's your first time, the twice baked chocolate croissant is a must! Any of their sandwiches is good too. They have an amazing chocolate cake and also their opera cake. Lately though, my favorite thing to get here is coffee. My go-to is a caramel latte. They're always pretty friendly here considering it gets super busy. Decided to check this place out after some recommendations. We got the Twice Baked Almond Croissant and Twice Baked Chocolate Croissant. I was most excited about the twice baked almond croissant because I love the almond flavored foods. The almond croissant was baked very crispy, but I felt was missing the strong almond flavor/paste I enjoy. The chocolate croissant was pretty good though. My favorite almond baked good is the Marzipan Roll at piroshky at Pike's Market place. They have a very rich almond paste in the roll. This place is pricey, but it's worth a try. We've missed Bakery Nouveau since COVID started since we've been solely relying on spots that do curbside pick up or delivery (our youngest child is high risk with an underlying health issue) and the location closest to us doesn't allow curbside pick up (Capitol Hill). We were super excited to be able to order from their Burien location here and they do curbside pick up! My parents went to get the yummy treats for Christmas including a bouche de noel (our tradition to get one from here for Christmas), some pastries (croissants, chocolate quick bread, scones) and a holiday cookie box. There's street parking but they also have a small parking lot next to the bakery. There are many people behind the counter, each helping individual customer's order. My person was nice and helpful as I asked about the different sandwiches and pastries. They have such a wide selection but I think I'll have to return for a fresh fruit topped pastry as I learned those are on the less sweet side. Don't miss out on the seasonal pistachio cassis cake while it's still here. It's an amazing combination of crunchy, creamy, nutty, sweet, and tart. A lot of bakeries tend to go overboard on the cassis, which can be really sour. Theirs is just perfect. On the classic side of the menu, try one of those buttery, flaky croissants. I like that it's crispy on the outside, yet tender on the inside. You can't go wrong with the very French kugelhopf or the king galette, either. My only disappointment is the caramel apple tart. I was on a day trip to Seattle to run some errands and needed coffee. Found this place on yelp and I love a good pastry. First of all there is a parking lot which is great, then I saw the mural of art nouveau which I loved. I walked in and it smelled so good and everything looked amazing, I was overwhelmed. Ordered too much but had to bring some home to share. Got 10 macarons, nouveau chocolate croissant, twice baked almond croissant, and a kouign amann. They were all delicious. I scarfed down the kouign amann in the car. Brought everything else home. Couldn't stop eating the macarons. Had the chocolate croissant the next day and it was still delicious. Perfectly baked. 5 stars all around! Seriously they need to consider moving a bakery more down south because this place is the bomb! If you're into all things bread than look no further. They have the freshest pastries, sandwiches and cakes and you taste the love Bakery Nouveau put into their food with every bite. But in all seriousness bakeries like these are hard to come by so when you find one cherish it and visit often. I'm a croissant fanatic and the croissants here are truly out of this world. You can taste every layer of the croissants here from the flakey goodness to the rich butter flavor croissants are known for, every bite is just unbelievably good. And if you love a good almond croissant their twice baked almond croissants are some of the best I've ever had and I've had many croissants near and far over the years. The other day was my first time dining in, normally my mom will grab us some goodies if she's working up north. Be warned- if you come during lunch hours seating is very limited, but hey this bakery knows what they're doing. I ordered their ham and cheese sandwich for lunch to share with my 4 year old, my 7 year old got a slice of their pizza and my mom ordered their ratatouille sandwich which for us was the highlight, though everything was good.
