Came in to celebrate Balance's day me year anniversary! Immediately greeted by owner, Nancy who is so kinda and warm! I brought my dog in and got some cute pictures of him which made their way to balance's IG story. For a drink I got the iced oat milk MatChai (combo of chai and matcha - my two faves) and it was absolutely delicious! Especially with the coconut whipped cream on top! I also got the Matcha cocoa cookie, which was delicious and the paired perfectly together. I love the space and all the plants and decor and everything here is just absolutely lovely and if you haven't been, I would highly recommend it. Balance Coffee is small coffee shop in Midtown Sac. I've been here once previously and had the Barn, and I tried the Vanilla Chai most recently. I love that they are a vegan business and provide oat milk for all their drinks, as this is my milk alternative of choice. It was sweet, but not overly so, and I easily drank it down. Although the couple of drinks I've tried haven't made too much of an impression on me, it's still a great option for a coffee stop if you're in the area. As a plus, there's a good amount of parking in front of the businesses on this street. Also, I saw on their website that the owner gives back a portion of the profits. I was first introduced to Balance Coffee through their mobile coffee truck, the addition of this brick and mortar location is great and makes it easy for customers to find them all week long. The space is open and bright with some seating inside. The team here is always friendly and every time I've been in has greeted me right away. Everything here is vegan, and even if you're not vegan you'll want to try it all. The drinks are so flavorful and high quality. I love their coffees and chai. They also carry some baked goods from local businesses like Brown Rice Bakery and they pair perfectly with the drinks. They also sell coffee, soaps, and some other fun gift items. Balance Coffee Shop's brick and mortar is relatively new (open for less than a year); however, they also do pop-ups at the Midtown farmers' market on weekends! The shop itself is super cute and the macramé wall art gave the space a very bohemian vibe. When I walked in, the barista was friendly and double checked to confirm our orders before making them. I appreciated her attention to detail, so that my partner and I would have our orders made just right. I ordered the Matchapan, which I was told was a "secret menu item." If you know, you know! We decided to give Balance Coffee Shop a try since we love that they're committed to crafting drinks with less sugar, and you can definitely taste the difference! This coffee shop is located at the Midtown farmers market. I arrived around 12 pm and the line was not too long. Each coffee is around $7 which isn't too bad. Unfortunately, I was a bit upset because when I received my drink it wasn't filled up all the way. The picture I have included is after I took a tiny sip out of my drink, i had to make sure the drink at least tasted good after paying $7 for an under filled coffee. I pass by this coffee shop often and have always wanted to give it a try. While waiting for my haircut, I decided to pop in and check it out. There were two staff workers working the counter--both very sweet. As I was looking at the menu, one of the workers asked if it was my first time here and took the time to run through the menu with me (i.e. popular items, customizations, etc.) which I appreciated as she took the time to make suggestions based off of what I would typically get at other coffee spots. The inside of the shop has a nice, clean aesthetic that is welcoming. There are some seats alongside the wall but not many. For my drink of choice, I went with the Cali Matcha and added pistachio syrup. The drink automatically comes with oat milk but of course you can alter it as desired. I wanted to like this place so bad but unfortunately did not. The drink tasted like watered down pistachio syrup. No taste of matcha, no cream taste/feel from the oat milk, and there were matcha clumps in my drink ( ･･ ) I may come back to try some of the other drinks as I see others have given some nice reviews on them, but I'm not eager to make another visit any time soon. read more

I've visited Balance a couple times already and love the space. Balance Me Out was and still is a mobile coffee truck and you can still catch the truck at various markets and around the Sacramento/EG area. Taking the space of former Drip Espresso, the interior is small but quaint and chill. I love coming on Sunday mornings and things are very chill and slow. There are in house pastries and drinks are the perfect amount of sweetness (not overly sweet) and non dairy. There are certain drinks you can order as dairy so there is something for everyone. Today my order was the Mazapán Latte which is an oat milk base. Finally, a mazapán latte that's non dairy! It comes iced only. Also got the strawberry banana nut bread. Order came out quick and I was able to sit & relax a bit. The barista helping me was informative and she was able to answer my questions about the latte being non dairy. She was afraid I was going to change my mind but as soon as I heard oat milk base, I was 100% all in. Had a feeling it was non dairy but wanted to make sure. The owner of Balance typically makes her drinks non dairy and she's known for making them less sweet. Extensive menu with the usual drink selections you can find from the mobile truck plus coffee staples and beans to purchase. Always love coming here and love that Balance Me Out now has a brick & mortar! Parking is easy since there are spaces to pull into and there's street parking too. My friend that lives in Sac said this was her fav local coffee spot. We tried to catch them at the Farmers Market but ended up coming to the brick & mortar. The mazapan latte was so tasty! All their drinks comes with auto-oat milk. This one was a blend of house milk made from different nuts, cashew, peanut etc to recreate that mazapan taste. 4.5! A cozy coffee shop with a diverse and elevated menu. I ordered the Golden Bear and really enjoyed it; had a hard time choosing because they all sounded so wonderful. Also noting they do have seasonal drinks available, but also on specific days of the week (I came in on a Monday, but they said they only do one of their monthly drinks only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Their hours are a little shorter than what I typically see (they close at 2 p.m.), so glad I was able to fit this in during my lunch break. I love coming here with my mom! I enjoy the marzipan latte as my mom likes the date latte. Everything is beautifully made, house made syrups, unique, and beautifully crafted. After taking my dogs for a walk at a nearby park, I decided to stop in Balance Coffee Shop for my morning pick-me-up. It was a quiet morning at the coffee shop and I appreciated the opportunity to chat with the owner. She made me an absolutely delicious iced "Camilla" - oat milk with espresso, vanilla, and caramel. It was creamy and subtly sweet. It had the perfect balance of espresso and creamy oat milk. I appreciated the opportunity to connect with the owner and just talk about local Sacramento culture. I came across Balance Coffee Shop at the Midtown Farmers Market today and decided to try their matcha since I've been really into matcha lately and have been trying different coffee shops around downtown Sacramento. Honestly, this was the worst matcha I've had. It tasted very watered down and had a weird aftertaste. I brought it back right away and didn't drink it at all, and when I asked for a replacement, I was told I would have to pay for another drink. There was no sign or anything posted about no refunds or no remakes. I even left a tip. The worker told me it was her mom's company and that's just how they do it. I didn't argue or make a scene, I just gave the full drink back and walked away. I understand small businesses have policies, but for a $9 drink that wasn't right and wasn't even touched, I expected better customer service. I left feeling unheard and honestly just disappointed. I've been to plenty of coffee shops in Sacramento and never had an experience like this. read more

Staff was sweet and inviting, actually gave us 2 slices of the banana bread because "one of the slices is smaller". So thoughtful! Drinks were good, although the drinks seemed a tad "watered down*, I think it's likely just their oatmilk not having (or having less of) the common additives of store bought milk alternatives like gums, seed oils etc). However, they offer a few beverages I haven't seen at any other coffee shops. I got the orange and date latte and it was very tasty. Date sweetener has a soft sweetness. I've been a loyal patron of this business at the farmers market and I'm so happy they have a store front. The shop is clean and smells really good i think it's the soaps and candles in the display to the left that I have been eyeing everytime I go in. It's a little cozy and intimate inside. The barista was so friendly and offered my dog a treat as we talked a bit about the baked goods in the case-there was a mango cookie that looked so good and this banana bread was whispering to me. The first day I tried an iced lavender latte, it wasn't too lavender forward....i wouldn't order it again but that just because I like the taste of my coffee it was a good balance of flavor. I had to go back the next day to get my usual order an americano and that dang banana bread. It did not disappoint. Heavy chocolate chips which I'm a fam of and dense. It really hit the spot for me with the Americano. It wasn't bitter or acidic and did not have a funny after taste like some espresso. I felt very comfortable here and will definitely be back. The gentleman working this morning was very friendly and in a good mood early too. Service makes the experience so much better. And I can bring my dog Henry, which makes it a no brainer any time we are on a walk and I want a last minute treat. This was my first time at Balance and I was skeptical because it's plant based. I love that for other people, but I do like my dairy. I was very pleased with my coffee and breakfast snack! I had a hot Kulture and it was delightful! It was very similar to a Mexican mocha except I think the flavors were more complicated because of the oat milk and the Chipotle flavors. It has spice but is not spicy. I also tried the orange loaf and I loved it. It sort of looked like it would be way over the top orange, but it's perfect! It was so moist and flavorful. The staff were friendly and fast. My 4 star is because it's very small and I love to hang at a coffee shop. I normally have to be careful with specialty lattes at coffee shops because of all the sugary syrups but Balance Coffee Shop is uniquely exceptional and their high quality is fantastic because they rely on flavor not sugar. The expresso was brewed perfectly and I could taste real, authentic cardamom with a hint of rose in the background notes.
