It has been quite awhile since I have had an opportunity to catch up with a friend over a cup of Jane; therefore, I was delighted when a friend reached out and wanted to meet up. Since I have a pretty lengthy list of coffee shops bookmarked on Yelp, it was a no brainer when Goodside coffee popped up at the top of my list. Looking forward to great conversation and good coffee, I looked at their menu ahead of time. Upon arrival, I was greeted by an employee who quickly processed my order - Iced Honey Lavender Latte. Considering that it was in the mid 90s, the latte was refreshing and the honey lavender flavor was very prevalent. The establishment was fairly empty at the time, which was perfect for having uninterrupted- free of distraction- conversation. The coffee here is excellent, easily the highlight of this spot. Pastries are solid too, though the food menu itself is fairly average. It's a great place to settle in for a while, plenty of tables, accessible charging stations, and a convenient location near other food and coffee options nearby. Parking is metered/paid, no free options, though spots are generally available. Two things to know before you go: restroom access can feel like a hassle, even after a purchase and hours spent in-house..there's a noticeable reluctance from ownership around letting customers use the bathroom. And posted hours aren't always reliable, I've shown up on a Monday when it was listed as open, only to find it closed. I won't be returning as often due to this and I've spent a lot of money here in this short time going, 3.5 stars overall. read more

Goodside continues to be one of my favorite coffee shops in the city. It's in an easy spot to get to with street parking and garage parking available. While it's paid, it's typically worth it especially if you plan to hang out for a bit. It's also very walkable from midtown or downtown. Inside is warm and inviting with a beautiful mural, plants, and fun wallpaper with a good amount of seating, plenty of windows and great natural lighting. They have a good variety of drinks and the coffee is delicious. They offer some seasonal drinks and most of them can be ordered in their off season of they still have the ingredients. My favorite orders are their flat white, vanilla rose latte, chai, and dirty chai. They also offer pastries and bagels for food options and the lox bagel is my favorite. The team here is always friendly and the owner, Chuck, is often making drinks and chatting with customers. I love this spot for meetings, a weekend coffee, and meeting up with friends. read more

The Good Side Coffee just earned a permanent spot on my mental "I will be back" list. From the moment I pulled up, I already knew this place was different. Corner location, actual side parking (which is rare), and the whole space just looks... intentional. Modern, clean, and aesthetically dialed in without feeling try-hard. And then you walk in. It's beautiful in there. Like -- genuinely one of the cutest coffee shops I've been in. The mural alone deserves its own moment, and even the restroom is thoughtfully designed (yes, I notice these things). Everything feels clean, polished, and almost hotel-lobby level nice. You would never guess they've been open for six years -- it looks brand new. Now let's talk about the experience. Eva at the register was super helpful. I told her straight up -- I didn't want to order my usual mocha because I didn't want to compare it to Starbucks or Dutch Bros and set myself up for disappointment. She helped guide me toward something different, and that was the best decision I could've made. Enter: the Raspberry Nirvana. It's a mocha with raspberry, strawberry, and vanilla -- and I accidentally ordered it iced at first. Took one sip and immediately thought, this is so good... I wish it was hot. Realized that's what I originally wanted, brought it back, and they remade it quickly with zero attitude. Just kindness and efficiency. Hate to write as I always want to support small local business, but the manager/barista was beyond rude when he was helping with my order. Seems like a pattern as I've seen other negative reviews on him as well. My order was pretty basic a cold brew, took over 10 minutes to get and there was only one customer ahead of me, which was a friend of his so he was chatting it up with him, almost made me late to work, thought about leaving, but I had paid for it so I waited. When I finally got it, I asked if there was any sweetener around and he said I've already added vanilla in there It's sweet already. I was a little perplexed by this response as I just wanted to add a packet of sugar to it so that's what I told him. He rudely said why don't you try it first! I did and I said it's not sweet enough which is a personal preference and I felt really judged by him. He begrudgingly gave me a packet of brown sugar. After the interaction, I will never give him my business again, which is sad because I work nearby and would like to have supported them more. read more

Stopped in at Goodside Coffee for the first time yesterday, after being at a neaby event held at the Safe Convention Center aound the corner. I'm always up for finding and trying new coffee spots, and between the drinks and food seen on their page and the posts their large mural and decor. I figured I'd give them a shot. Once I arrived and stepped inside I was happily greeted by their frie day staff behind the counter. The yound lady near the register was finish something and told me she'd be with me shortly, which actually gave me the opportunity to look over the menu a little more. Once free she asked how she could help, to which I told her I was looking for something along the Dirty Chai line of drinks and was curious if their version had Cardamom. And or was similar to the Yememi Coffee a Saana Some blocks away. As Dirty Chai taste very similar without the same level of sweetness. The young lady behind the counter noted their Dirty Chai didn't have Cardamom but did have Cinnamon and is overall is really good. But if I was looking for the Cardamom, that they had a drink on their Winter menu that she could make, which also included Ginger. I ultimately to go an iced Dirty Chai and ordered the New Yorker bagle sandwiches on an ever bun. As a light snack to hold me over for a bit. Ordered: Iced Dirty Chai New Yorker Breakfast Bagel w/Everything Bagel bun Both the Dirty Chai and breakfast bagel with really good. The Dirty Chair has the perfect amount of sweetness without modification which was really good. Because with some other coffee shops I have to order it half sweet, and my girlfriend will order it a quarter sweer. Otherwise there too much sugar involved and it's overly sweet. The New Yorker breakfast bagel was really good as well. It came out nice and hot and sliced down the middle for two smaller pieces. And the fresh bacon bits on top pf the egg and cheese is a really great touch. Overall: Very impressed with both the Dirty Chai drink and the breakfast bagel sandwich. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the coffee shop itself has a nice and quiet vibe. With a dope hand designed mural sprawled on their wall near the sandwich pickup counter. This is my go-to coffee spot whenever I'm working in the area--it's just a short walk from my office building. The café is spacious, making it a great place to sit and sip your coffee or even host a small team meeting. I love how simple the menu is; it makes ordering easy, especially if you're not sure what specialty drink to decide on. They have patties but also have a limited kitchen menu. My favorites are the Honey Lavender Latte and the Lox Bagel--both are amazing. I think I've found my new favorite place to work and read at. I came to Goodside Coffee on a whim and was not disappointed. I was craving a good fall latte and a place to get some work done in the afternoon and stumbled upon Goodside. I tried their honey spiced latte and it was amazing! I got it as a hot latte, and wish I immediately downed while it was still warm. It was toasty, gave a hint of sweetness with the wildflower honey, and dusted with cinnamon. The latte art was beautiful as well, I'm always easily impressed by these. I came in during the afternoon, and the place was spacious. I love the open window concept with all the natural light. It was a gloomy rainy day, so I was romanticizing the day here. The employees are amazing, super nice and friendly. Will definitely be back soon enough!! read more

The one star should be 5 for having to work with the Bas!ard Barista! Started snapping at us as soon as we entered. We stood in the wrong spot. Bathrooms are for paying customers only! Goodside coffee offers a welcome environment for the coffee / matcha enthusiast or the study buddies looking for quiet hangout. This place gets wonderful natural light with its high glass windows. The inside offers some unique wall art and greenery and ample seating!! The staff gave wonderful recommendations! We loved both the matcha latte with oat milk (with honey and vanilla since it doesn't come sweet) as well a dirty chai with oat milk! The breakfast sandwich was good but the bagel was a little tough, wish it could have been toasted a little more. Otherwise an overall success! My only "wish list" would be maybe more syrups flavors to add to matcha or coffee drinks! read more

Shockingly bad service. Waited 30 minutes for a coffee and a tea while the barista walked away from the espresso machine, went outside, talked to customers and other employees. There were only 4 drinks ahead of mine. Every single espresso shot was pulled early and sat on the counter until it was pitch black (expired). The other people waiting were in shock at the bad service and left without their drinks. We all would have been better off doing the same. The drinks were overpriced, watery, and weak. She gave it a 7/10 because not as strong as she'd like Hot Black coffee - 8/10 it's very smooth, and mellow taste. Not bitter at all. One of my favorite places to study/work. Not too busy, so I can get a lot of work done. There are outlets if you need to plug in. Coffee tastes good and breakfast bagel sandwich is yummy. I needed a relaxing spot to use my laptop for 2 hours, and this coffee shop did just the trick. My visit felt particularly enjoyable since the weather was nice (is it always this pleasant in Sacramento?) and the door had been kept open. It's very spacious inside too. The almond croissant tastes decent. There are several two-seater tables near the wall and bigger tables near the windows. The owner seemed a little serious -- could just be his resting expression. He wasn't rude by any means so not a big deal. Ask him for the clever WiFi password. read more

Amazing coffee place with delicious foods. This is my second visit and it's just as good as I remembered. I got a cappuccino this time. I love the deep deep espresso flavor. The coffee art is absolutely amazing! This is a lot stronger than the latte I got for my first visit. Both are equally great really just depends on how strong I want my coffee that day~ I didn't order food this time. But during my previous visit I tried the lox bagel and Nutella strawberry bagel because I couldn't pick between sweet or savory. They are both delicious. Service is very friendly and staff are so good at their coffee craft. I sat at three bar this time and admired the coffee making. The place is open with tall ceilings. Had to go back to try the fall drinks! I ordered a honey spiced latte and a chocolate croissant. The croissant was super fresh, flaky and delicious, definitely get it warmed up. The latte was a solid 8/10, it's not very sweet and the "spice" is just cinnamon. I wish they used a spice blend, but they put plenty of cinnamon all over the inside of the cup though, so you can definitely taste it! read more

I've been coming to Goodside Coffee for years and wanted to bring my sister to one of my favorite coffee shops! Dropped in around 11 o clock and it was busy! The barista killed it taking orders and making drinks. My sister ordered the Mint Matcha and I ordered an Iced Latte. The drink were made within a few minutes. The Mint Matcha tasted amazing. Well balance between the matcha and mint. I feel like Goodside Coffee seasonal drinks are always a hit! Also the iced latte taste good. You can never go wrong with Goodside Coffee. I stopped into this place to grab a small bite and wake myself with some mid-shift coffee. The Chai was so good. Lots of cinnamon and very smooth, I had to stop myself from drinking it too quickly. I also got a Bagel & Lox and unfortunately they did run out of capers for the day, but it was still delicious without it. Sacramento has in the last decade become quite the coffee Mecca and I've tried my best to visit all the various coffee shops, but this was my first time at Goodside Coffee. It's located in a much less crowded part of downtown, but it's worth a visit. Their cold brew was all I had on my first visit but it guaranteed that I'd be back to try their other offerings. It was bold and flavorful. The coffee shop is huge and luckily it wasn't packed so I was able to find a large table to myself and camp out a little while enjoying my coffee. Came in for a morning coffee. The shop is big and spacious with a handful of seating inside. The coffee menu is pretty basic. They had 2 signature seasonal lattes and I opted for the honey cinnamon ltte with oat milk after chatting with the staff member. The drink was delicious. It was smooth and well balanced in sweetness and coffee. We also got some everything bagels to go. Both the chive and garlic cream cheese were full of flavor. While waiting, a Caucasian man in a baseball cap (apparently the owner) came all the way from behind the counter specifically to confront me and announce--loudly, in front of everyone--that the restroom was "only for paying customers." His tone was hostile, completely unnecessary, and clearly directed at me in a way that felt aggressive and humiliating. What made this even more disturbing is that the Caucasian woman standing directly behind me, who also had not ordered, was not approached, questioned, or spoken to at all. As the only person of color in line, this felt unmistakably like racial profiling and selective enforcement of their so-called "policy." No one should have to experience that kind of treatment simply for walking into an establishment. If you value respect, equality, and basic human decency, take your money somewhere that treats all customers with dignity--not just the ones they choose. read more

Another amazing coffee quest! Goodside is a perfect 5 for me! They have housemade cream cheese on soft, fresh bagels. That's all you need to know! I had a seasonal drink and it was delightful! So food and drink are just simply perfect. Enough said, but on top of that the service was warm and friendly and fast. My drink came out hot but drinkable. I love the minimalist vibe but the color scheme is so welcoming so it's not just stark minimalist. Also, they have the best chairs. I really hate all the restaurants with those hard, aluminum type chairs that are uncomfortable and bite into your hips and butt. They also have bar space, which is not something you find very often at coffee shops. This ranks as my new favorite! read more

Came outta town and had tournament in the convention center and was an easy 5 min walk with a coffee shop. This coffee shop, was pretty big lots of seating to do work, just everyone is friendly. The service was amazing, really friendly and helpful, even ask for recommendations to do around the city and the whole staff got in a group to help me out, super nice especially this one girl with glasses, went there back to back and she already remembered my name. For both days my boss had gotten a DOPPIO on the rocks, and he said prolly one of the better espresso shots he had in a while. For me first day I had gotten the CABIN FEVER (hot) was really good fall and warmful of flavor, second day was my favorite drink RASPBERRY NIRVANA (iced) so good taste all the flavors without eliminating the espresso- chocolate raspberry so good. read more

I was in the downtown area and we looking for a coffee shop, but I wasn't sure where to go to as there are a lot of them here. I did a quick yelp search, seen this one and I decided to try it. There is plenty of parking around the street so that isn't bad. As you walk inside it is very spacious and they're also some chairs outside too. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the employees. I ordered a normal hot coffee. The only thing that I disliked about it was that they don't have a station where you can put your own things in the coffee they do it for you. The hot coffee wasn't anything special. I've had much better coffees at some gas stations. I'd probably go back to try one of their other drinks but not for the hot coffee. read more

Had the urge to try this one because I had a craving for a lox bagel lol. -------------- Bagel & lox: love the bagel that's made in-house! It actually has a little bit of NYC bagel flair with its chewy-tackiness (which I'm a huge fan of in bagels). Quite tasty bagel sandwich all around. Iced mocha: pretty much like caffeinated chocolate milk to me lol. I mean, I really dig the rich chocolate taste, but I wanted a bold roasted taste from the coffee itself as well (was very mild). Nonetheless, not a bad choice if you need a general chocolate-y pick-me-up. Monkey bread: a must-order if you see it in the display case! Its taste and texture is reminiscent of the center of a fluffy cinnamon roll. Not overly sweet either! -------------- One of the friendliest staff groups that I've interacted with at a coffee shop.
