We were walking through La Jolla when we happened up this little shop. I love candy. So we had to stop. I lovvvvvve their selection of salt water taffy. We grabbed some handfuls (and the flavor decoder) and went to the beach. Where we watched the waves, snacked on the yumminess. What was most amazing was how spot on the flavors were. The service at the store was friendly and quick. I spent about $30, but, I also got a lot of sugar. Stop in :) you'll be happy.

This is a new candy store in downtown La Jolla Village. I've been to a lot of specialty candy stores and this one is just ok. They definitely have a great selection of Laffy Town brand taffy, which seems to be the main draw. They charge $3.40 for a 1/4 lb, which is just slightly more than similar stores. My major complaint is the other selection is mostly lacking. There is a variety of Jelly Belly jelly beans, some chocolate bars from the UK (mostly what World Market sells), a small selection of old-timey candy (Chick-o-Sticks, Rootbeer barrels etc), a display case of unwrapped/unbranded chocolates (truffles, chocolate covered oreos, caramels, fudge etc) and some souvenir/gifty items. The prices are similar to other stores, which is obviously more than non-specialty ones. The store is very clean, spacious and attractive. It is located in the village, so parking can be tricky. The employees are super friendly, energetic and helpful. I've heard them offering customers samples of the taffy. They gave me an employee discount for working in the area! Be aware they have a #3 minimum for credit cards (which, honestly, isn't that hard to meet). Overall, this store is good for tourists and a quick taffy fix if you are in the area, but not a place worth going your way out for.

My fiancé loves candy so we stopped in for something sweet. Prices weren't terrible. We found some unique things to the area, like a gummy pizza. There are a ton of salt water taffy flavors and jelly belly flavors fir self-serve. Staff was friendly too!

This is a cute little shop with great service. They always have a few samples out and let you try different things, and ask for a local discount! It's fun to look through the different vintage candies. If you're strolling through La Jolla, stop by. Fudge is 10/10

Cute little Candy store in downtown LaJolla, recently opened, the employees were friendly, the whole front of the store is salt water taffy and they have other candy in the back of the store. Grab a bucket and pick what you want they charge by weight.

Love the vintage candies. We stopped by here on our way back from the seal caves. I picked up some salt water taffy for folks back home.

While the bookstore itself has a decent & varied selection of new books, and they'll order any book for you that they don't have, it is not the most pleasant place to shop. As a bibliophile and an English teacher, I really want to like and support Warwick's, but unfortunately, they've treated me poorly on multiple occasions which makes it challenging for me to give them more chances. There are many book sellers & employees, but they are not very helpful and they treat you like an inconvenience or worse. The right side of the store is book-centric while the left side of the store is mostly stationery & cards, writing utensils, gift items, and tchotchkes. Today, I purchased a book and a pen refill with a credit that I had at the store. I requested the pen refill from one counter, and I had to go to the book counter to pay for my book. Instead of giving me the refill so I could bring it over to the book counter and pay for both items with my credit, the employee brought the refill over herself and told a 2nd employee while pointing at me that, "that woman over there is also getting this pen refill along with her book." Then the 2nd employee handed the refill to a 3rd employee who stashed it behind the counter while I waited for my turn to pay. Keep in mind that the pen refill was a mere $6 item but they treated it like a precious gem that would surely compel me, if I held it in my own hands, to run out of the store with it without paying for it. Meanwhile, I'm holding the much pricier book that I'm going to purchase in my hands, but I rapidly felt like turning on my heels and vacating the store, and leaving the book behind, of course, because that moment was just so strange and uncomfortable. Over the past ten years, I have regularly patronized this store and I've purchased items here multiple times per year. However, there is no recognition, no friendliness, nothing to indicate that I'm more than just a tourist popping in on vacation. At the very least, a friendly greeting would do, but no such luck. Every time I cross the threshold, I feel a wall of snootiness that is just unpleasant and takes away from what could be a lovely shopping experience. As I'm sure you've figured out by now, items are definitely on the pricey side here. You can certainly find a better value and probably way friendlier service at other bookstores outside of LJ. I think Warwick's probably provides a different type of shopping experience for patrons depending on who the employees perceive them to be, even if they are way off the mark. C'est la vie. Just know that if you are a POC and you shop here, you may have an unpleasant experience, but I certainly hope that you don't! Peace.

And yes...I had to explore all three! Both markets were bright, clean, and incredibly well organized. One of my favorite sections was the tea aisle. As someone who absolutely loves tea, I was in heaven. Their selection is huge, with everything from loose-leaf teas to powdered varieties that you don't typically find in traditional American grocery stores. I'll definitely be back to stock up on a few new favorites. I originally stopped in to purchase a matcha whisk set, but it was a little more than I wanted to spend. That didn't stop me from finding a few treasures, though! I ended up browsing the cookware section and picked up a beautifully designed set of reusable chopsticks along with beginner-friendly M-shaped training chopsticks. One unexpected highlight was getting to try a hand massage machine. It applies pressure to acupuncture points throughout your hand, and wow--it felt amazing! I'm seriously considering going back just to buy one. The produce section also looked fresh and inviting, so I can definitely see myself returning to shop for groceries. Plus, since my sons love anime, I already know they'll enjoy checking out the merchandise store with all the fun Japanese collectibles and character items. Whether you're looking for authentic Japanese groceries, unique kitchenware, specialty teas, or fun gifts, Tokyo Central & Main is absolutely worth visiting. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping by--you'll probably leave with more than you planned, just like I did! And you already know you can always thank me later

MILK CHOCOLATE with hazelnuts, gianduja ($5) - This was good and liked it better than the other chocolate I bought, only because there was more chocolate flavor and I like texture in my chocolate bars such as hazelnuts.
