I came in specifically for the See's Candies July Lollipop Month. 20 select packaged lollipops; OR you can do a mix & match of 30 different lollipop flavors for $25.20. I did the 30 lollipops and only chose butterscotch, as it's my favorite! This would normally cost $37.50... The lady who helped me was really nice. As you can see, I went crazy for my butterscotch lollipops! I know it won't be this heavily discounted for another 11 months, so I had to take advantage of their special! Yvonne is extremely rude. Someone needs to check the cameras. This incident happened yesterday. My mom normally goes to the Carmel Mountain location & loves it there. But, we decided to go to this location (Balboa Ave), because it was close to my dad's work. Yvonne was immediately passive aggressive towards my mother. My mom needed more time to decide on what items she wanted, so we allowed for Yvonne to start assisting other customers behind us. She then helped 4 customers after us. Being extremely kind to each of them, and apologizing for the wait...(that "my mother" had caused) We waited patiently. Even when there was no customers left, Yvonne went to begin working on something else instead of assisting my mom. Even though it was clear my mom was ready. When my mom said that she was ready, Yvonne said in a tone "are you sure you don't need another minute? I was going to start working on something else since it didn't seem like you were ready". I had to walk out of the store. My mom sometimes has a hard time noticing when people are rude to her, and it hurts me when people are like this towards her especially in front of me. I waited for the transaction to be done and for my mom to walk out before coming back in and telling Yvonne that "my mom is a customer not an inconvenience" & that I didn't like how she treated my mom so poorly. She responded that she didn't realize she had treated her poorly. And I said it's very clear to me and my husband that you were very rude. And then I left. My mom asked what I said, I told her, and my mom said that she did realize Yvonne was being rude, and that she made sure to get a receipt to call and tell corporate that Yvonne wasn't very nice to her. Also, it was my birthday yesterday so Yvonne, please realize that how to treat people matters. My mom did nothing wrong. She asked questions and didn't know what she wanted right away. If that's a bad customer to you, you haven't had a bad customer before. My mom didn't deserve to be treated that way. No customer does, especially if they aren't rude. I hope no one ever is treated the way Yvonne treated my mom. Out of all the See's employees, Yvonne is the only one I have personally met who is so bitter rather than sweet. read more

You were an absolute pleasure to work with! love how you can try some chocolates before you purchase to make sure it's what you're looking for. I love how our cholacteer recommended certain chocolate packets to get the better savings vs making a box. Since the kid and I shared a # box, the lovely Heather actually labeled which side was the chocolates my kid had specifically picked out for herself. Loved that little attention to detail. Actually told her other businesses would love her customer service, but she just stated she loved her job. Quite a few years with chocolate. Just ask her? I got a gift certificate for 1# of See's for Christmas. I've always gotten the pre-packed chocolates as gifts and thankyou's so it was my first time since being a kid in a See's Candy store. As soon as i stepped in the door i was offered a piece of chocolate and was told which items were on sale (mostly Christmas stuff). Having never picked out a box before i wondered if it was like a fast food joint, where if you get a combo its cheeper. No they said everything is $16.50/pound. Although I like See's Nut's and Chews mix, there's always a few left in the box that i don't care for and a few that once the box is opened i try to make sure i get dibs on. So i figured I'd pick my own pound piece by piece. I got a few things that i have not seen in the assortments, so it was great to try a few new things and still get a bunch of stuff that i know i really like. Guess it's true you are what you eat, cause these sweet old ladies are so helpful and nice. They were patient, knew all about the chocolates, even offered to gift wrap it for me. I declined because i knew the box would be open on the drive home. It was really fun to customize your own box that way you don't get stuck with a box of 4 or 5 chocolates that no one wants to eat or cuts in half to figure out what they are. She was very kind and patient with me when building my box. My overall experience was beyond pleasant. I buy a huge box of chocolates whenever there is a celebration, unfortunately this location is not open on Sundays but there are many other locations one can go to. I used to be addicted to their coffee candy when I was a kid and I used to hate coffee! I am addicted to their milk caramel chocolates (just recently added how weird that they only had dark all this time) and I love their marshmallow dipped chocolates too. I'm a regular at this store because it's the closest (10 miles) to my house. I usually buy the same thing with my gift certificate (purchased at Costco) but lately I'm shocked at See's for trying to nickel and dime making me pay cash in addition to using the GC. I buy the GC in order not to be scrounging my pockets for change. On Jan 13 was the first time that happened in the years that I've been here and today (for the same exact purchase) they wanted 40c more cash. I'm saddened by the way See's is doing business now and I'm afraid to go back to this particular store where the price changes every week! I called Jesus in the Chula Vista store to find out how they're charging (just to compare, not that I live close to CV) and he said they are not charging 40c extra, I also noticed that their assembly in the past few months has gotten cheaper, the candy stays stuck on the paper and the thinner wrap tears apart easier instead of in one piece because See's is using cheaper material and charging more. I'm done with See's after I use my last GC. Are these being made in China now? As for getting extra pieces of candy that's not happening unless the older ladies like you, they've never offered me extras. read more

The old ladies that work there are super nice. The free samples are awesome! Chocolate is a universal gift for basically any occasion so I come here quite often. The location is perfect for me because it is right next to my bank and my martial arts studio. If you've never been to a See's, expect to pay around 20-30 dollars for a decent gift package. My favorite are the Nuts & Chews which are extremely popular. The creme-filled ones are seriously gross, I don't know how people eat that stuff! I don't want strawberry toothpaste inside my chocolate! This place misses the 5 star rating because they only have one register and the credit card reader is terribly slow. The last couple times I went, I had to wait 10-15 minutes to ring up my stuff which is only bearable because they give you samples immediately. read more

I have never written a review before but I have never been treated so rudely before as a customer either. This is no reflection on See's candies itself but on a specific employee, Yvonne S, at the Clairemont (Balboa) location. She was very pleasant to the other customer in there and pleasant to me at first, she gave me a few minutes to look over the selection, I made eye contact with her and let her know I was ready, I had my phone held up to my ear so I can make the correct selection for the person I was getting the chocolate. She told me to let her know when I'm off the phone so she could help me. I told her oh no, I'm ready. I told her I wanted the 1lb box and I proceeded to make my selection, by the fourth pick of chocolate she told me rudely I'm not finished with the previous selection can you wait until I'm done. I apologized for not realizing that she was not done. So I looked at her to make eye contact for my que to proceed. She glanced up at me and stared for a few seconds then looked down to finish. Then she looked at me again and told me to continue, I did. When finished she told me to meet her at the cash register. So I walked over to the counter and I got out my card and waited, as soon as she came over she aggressively and rudely told me it's not time to put your card in to pay. I told her I know when to pay forcefully. She apologized and said "she did not mean to be rude." I did not appreciate the treatment I got for no reason. read more

I went to get chocolates on Valentine's Day, the store was packed and mostly everybody was nice, except the lady who helped me. I saw that every person being helped was getting a sample without asking and also when I was leaving since the line was big they started to give out samples. Mmmm chocolate i had a mommy son weekend this past weekend and we celebrated our own early Valentines day! First stop was at Costco for some custom dipped strawberries...stop #2 was at Sees candy to sample and select some delicious chocolate! I have never been to this location before...always gone to UTC...but it is always so darn crowded there. We arrived 30 minutes before closing (5:30)...the weekend before V-Day so I thought it would be super crowded...nope. just one lady in front of me who bought 2 pieces of chocolate. the ladies there were so friendly! they offered us sample after sample (we didn't even have to ask)...I think my son and I had 4 or 5 pieces of chocolate EACH! wow! we ended up buying a little over a pound of delish chocolate..9 pieces of milk chocolate caramels, 8 pieces of milk chocolate covered toffee, 8 pb patties (milk choc of course), 4 mint patties (milk chocolate dipped), 4 milk chocolate covered almond/caramel... yum yum!!! My kids didn't even know that places like this existed! this was pure heaven for him ...still talking about it a week later. read more

This may be a smaller See's shop than others, but it is still a lovely shop! The sales ladies could not be nicer nor more helpful. As is the custom for ALL See's shops, free samples are always offered. I have yet to visit now that it is open for "in store" shopping, but will do so this coming week. Having read other reviews, it is good to know (but not a surprise, as See's is always one to do "what is right and best") that "masks are used by staff, ** and REQUIRED of customers, with "social distancing" rules in place as well! I have to add, I (*as well as five generations of family members *and counting).. have been a loyal fan/customer of See's for over 60 yrs and have NEVER once in those six decades had a "bad experience" with either the quality of See's chocolates, or of the service I have received.
