Ordered eggplant parm for takeout and received about 6-8 thick chunks of eggplant (like 2" sections of eggplant) with mozzarella baked on top with sauce. It was a hardy dish but not what I was expecting or wanting. This dish came with a side of pasta and bread. I was expecting the typical: "thin layers of breaded eggplant slices" which I have always gotten whenever I have ordered it anywhere else, all over the US. I didn't realize I had to ask how do they prepare their eggplant parm dish. Service was friendly, but won't be ordering this dish again. I am a foodie for certain and have enjoyed dishes at hundreds of restaurants on Long Island. This place, omg, this place has the best tasting food I've ever had. EVER. The menu isn't saturated with dozens of choices like a novel. Just one simple page of the best tasting dishes you will ever have. We stumbled upon the place by accident one evening and have been there twice in the past 3 weeks. I hate sand. I am the worst person to go to the beach with because I will do everything in my power not to touch sand. And may Ganesh help you if you put me through wet sand! So I didn't want to go to Long Beach, but I was lured there with the promise of beach blankets, wine, friends, more wine--and I forget the rest because I stopped listening after wine. I suffered through the horrendous walks through sand--including the obligatory romantic stroll by the shoreline--and subsisted on wine and fruit until we were ready to call it a day. That's how we wound up at Baldoria, where we were welcomed like the long-missed relatives of the world's friendliest Italian family. As the first guests of the evening, we were treated to off-menu tasties like freshly shucked oysters on the half shell. The unique Insalata Frutti di Mare is based in tomato sauce, and the Burrata and Meatball Skillet were both great. For entrees, we did a family-style share of the Special: Squid Ink Fettucine with Seafood, the Pappardelle Bolognese, and the Grilled Branzino. Everything was quality, but the Special was next-level delicious, with perfectly al dente pasta and super fresh seafood. After imbibing several bottles of wine, Sal--our new friend and co-owner of the restaurant--offered us complimentary Italian Rainbow Cake and Tiramisu. Why? Because when you're here, you're family. We enjoyed the best table in the house... the round in the alcove. The food was excellent... most tender octopus we have ever eaten, as was the pork chop and the delicious asparagus, not to mention the heavenly gnocchi... all from someone who cooks, bakes and is not easily impressed. Service was excellent in the beginning, but I think they were short staffed and so it started to suffer as the meal went on. My husband enjoyed his food but I was not happy with mine. Stuffed artichoke with a broth was not tasty.... The short ribs weren't tasty and they were not softthe way I like them. Actually they were a special and they were overdone. Maybe they were a special because they were left over from Saturday night..? We did get a tartuffo for dessert and they did not put a candle in for my birthday. My husband booked online and they asked if we were celebrating something...he wrote my wife's birthday....we were disappointed in no candle but we probably should have reminded them. Very attractive restaurant. Pleasant enough service, albeit somewhat slow. Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming. I had the eggplant parmesan dish with penne. The eggplant was baked, which I do enjoy, but it lacked seasoning and the rubbery, bitter eggplant skin was left intact, making the dish unpalatable. The penne pasta tomato sauce also lacked oomph and was too acidic. My partner also said the chicken marsala he ordered was "bland." I think the food could use some tweaking. read more

Came on a date last Saturday. We were very happy with the food and service. I started with the beef and barley soup, which was one of the specials. Large bowl of soup, tasted good. My date ordered the squid ink pasta with seafood in a few Diablo sauce,, also one of the specials. The sauce was delicious with a nice kick. Came with lobster, clams and muscles. All were good and cooked well. I had the tuna rare with a balsamic reduction. Cooked perfectly rare. Overall, an excellent meal. Our server was great and took good care of us. My only complaint is the place is a bit pricey. The pasta special was 48$ and the bowl of soup 16$. I live in NYC and those are the prices I get there. read more

Had dinner last night(Sunday October 1) . We were 4 people and we had two occasions to celebrate. Have been to the restaurant before and always enjoyed our dinner. Service was good, one meal needed to be cooked a bit longer and was not brought out I. A timely manner. Seafood salad appetizer the best we have ever had . Fresh, not overly dressed and perfect for sharing. Please bring back your stuffed veal chop. The pork chop was no comparison. Beautifully plated, but BLAND. Needed seasoning. read more

After walking past this place for the past few years, my wife and I finally decided to pop in for dinner on a summer Friday evening. We didn't have reservations, but were seated within 10 minutes or so. First off, I need to say that our server, Frank, was extremely attentive and charismatic all night! We started with the burrata appetizer, which was tasty but definitely not burrata. I know burrata is having a moment and is on nearly every Italian restaurant menu in the US (and some non-Italian places too), but most places are definitely just serving normal mozzarella. Now, I love fresh mozz, don't get me wrong, but when I'm ordering burrata, I want it to ooze out when I cut into it. For entrees, we got the bucatini Amatriciana and the paccheri alla Norma, which were both stellar! The guanciale on the Amatriciana was nice and crispy and pastas were very fresh. read more

We live around the corner from the restaurant and frequently stop by for drinks and apps at the bar. This Xmas eve we had a dinner with the whole family and it was great . The food was great . Specials were amazing and it was a lot of sea food options. My daughters loved it. Our server Lisa was great ! Great food, small interior, friendly staff, & good service. Not much more you can ask for! We made 7:30 reservations on a Friday night and ended up having to wait for about 30 minutes because the kitchen was behind. Not a big deal though, hung out at the bar with others waiting for the same reason. The prices were fair and overall we were very pleased with our experience. read more

Hosted a birthday party for the hubs at Baldoria this past weekend. We had about 38 guests. The decor is crisp and clean, the food was terrific. Every person we dealt with from making the arrangements to the staff and servers on the day of our event was pleasant and professional. After the party, I've heard from more than a few of my guests about how much they liked the restaurant, the service and the food, particularly the fresh mozzarella and tomato appetizer, fried calamari, and the skirt steak. Visiting family in Long Beach and remembered going to this restaurant a few months ago and really enjoyed the food and ambiance so went again and they did not disappoint. the server was excellent and expertly recited an extensive specials menu and each sounded better then the next. we ordered tortellinis stuffed with osso buco the size of your hand, which was delicious a fantastic shrimp dish and the pistachio crusted salmon which I had also gotten the last visit and everthing was fantastic, topped off with a nice bottle of wine and a great dinner was had by all. First time here, ate at the bar, great bartenders. Calamari was supposed to be with cherry peppers, but came dry with peppers in the dipping sauce, strange. Bolognese was tasty but very dry. Octopus was very tender, but not much taste, needed salt and an acid. We'll give it another try. read more

Never knew about this place, we happened to find parking and went for a stroll to find a nice restaurant. We did not have to go too far. Although we did not have a reservation (booked solid), they offered a seat at the bar where the menu is the same as table service. We had a whipped ricotta appetizer (with chestnuts and truffle oil, iirc) which was pretty darn good. Then I had a veal ragu with truffle gnocci (a special that evening). Very good and plenty filling, I took some home and had for lunch the next day, still good. LOL My wife had something that I cannot recall (she was shouting out so many dishes) but we vowed to come back and try more of their menu. Make reservations if you want to sit at a table, we found the bar to be quite comfortable for eating (and drinking) though. Check them out, you will not be disappointed. read more
