Great local spot with all home made desserts and pastries. They specialize in a lot of Italian stuff. I stumbled upon Balistreri's because my significant other and I have been rewatching the Sopranos. After hearing the cast talk about sfogliatelle all the time peaked his interest and he was dying to try some. After some research I was happy to hear Balistreri's has this on hand. They are also in the Southtowns so it wasn't too far of a drive. This is a family run bakery. It is owned by a couple who still still run the place. They were there when I arrived and they were very helpful and enthusiastic about their products. There is a large assortment of made in house pastries, breads, cookies and to go dinners. I took home some sfogliatelle and cannolis. The sfogliatelle was delicious. Once heated a little the top layer was flaky and crisp. The filing was the perfect blend of almond with a hint of citrus. The cannolis were huge and had plenty of filling and toppings. These were top notch and right in line with the NYC Italian bakeries I used to frequent. We are lucky to have this spot! I absolutely recommend to stop by and visit when you are in the area!

What a lovely place! Open every day, except Monday. Pastries are delightful, and can't wait to come back to try the To Go Meals!

What an adorable little bakery. I discovered it when picking up Chinese from next door but it was closed (after 6pm). I was nearby during the day and decided to stop in today. I'm so glad I did! I picked up about a pound of mixed variety cookies and two delicious and perfect eclairs. My favorite cookies of all time are the chocolate cookies with the cherry in the center covered in white chocolate with the dark chocolate shavings on them. I'm sure they have a name but I don't know what it is, they're the first thing I asked for and in the bottom of the box. Next is the flat toffee chocolate things you can see in the mixed cookie photo. I also got several powdered sugar covered 'butterballs' I think is what the nice man at the counter called them. :O And a few of each jam stuffed powdered sugar cookie: apricot and raspberry. The bakery also does several varieties of very tasty looking savory focaccia breads and Italian dishes to go. Prices may be a bit higher than other places for sweets but they're good quality and I love to support a local business.

This is the only place I know of since Romano's (on Kenmore) closed where you can get sfinge. I drive down from north of Buffalo to get them. It's not St. Joseph's Day to me without them. This year I got their homemade pasta con sarde, as well. So good! Worth the drive.

This place is great. I'm from Brooklyn and i've been looking for an Italian bakery that makes the same quality of pastries and bread as Brooklyn bakeries do - and this place is it! I woke-up and had a craving for St. Joseph pastry since they are in season right now and immediately came to yelp to search for the best bakery in the Buffalo area. I am beyond glad I found this place. will be back soon for more!

Cute and quaint bakery right on the border of Orchard Park /West Seneca. Owner was working the afternoon I stopped in and he was very informative and enthusiastic about his business. I ended up purchasing 2 cannoli ($10.50) and my friend and I really thought they tasted great! They also sell full Italian dinners such as Stuffed Shells, manicotti, Lasagna etc. Not much to look at, but I'll be back to try another baked good and perhaps a dinner!

My mom has brought us homemade treats from Mr. Balistreri's bakery for decades. Always stocked with standard yummy baked goods as well as classic Italian baked goods made with his own family recipes from over the years! Mr. Balistreri makes especially amazing "pizza" pies & at Christmas, Cuccidati cookies with a mystery liquer & the perfect blend of spices. He also makes heartier fare, Such as meatballs, Stuffed shells & pasta. The sauce is unique, sweet, almost with an element of honey flavor to it.

I was going to write a review of this place while walking on a high beam, but I might lose my Balis. And that's a really really streri prospect. So I'll past. Those are my ries ons. It's a super nice place, but extremely expensive. The Brownie and the Cannoli were absolutely magnificent. Especially the brownie, and I don't even like brownies, but the woman here told me to try it and I was blown away. I'm grateful for the awesome reccomendations. I was about 10 cents short for the extremely expensive bill ($9.50 for 3 little things), and they actually waited for me to go to the car and search for the 10 cents. That was the guy, not the woman who had recommended the brownie. I thought that was a bit, I don't know. Unneccessary, given the already high prices. It's expensive, but this amazing brownie and good cannoli are well worth it. The woman here is super friendly, too. Thanks very much to Julie C for her great review that led me to go here.

The drive here was so worth it. I got the focaccia bread, tiramisu, and cannolis. I loved everything and can't wait to go back for more.

Just as I was about to go in the place must have caught fire. Yikes! A man was leaving the bakery with as many loaves of bread as he could carry. I investigated. Sure enough, the store was filled with firemen. I couldn't get in. It turns out the firemen were buying a lot of baked goods. Whew! And the guy carrying all the loaves of bread was a caterer. He bought 50 loaves of Luigi's delicious bread. He explained he was catering a 50th wedding anniversary, and the celebrants wanted a loaf of Luigi's bread for each of their 50 years. I'm not kidding! I bought only 4 loves of bread. They were out of my favorite - sesame seeded Italian so I had to go with plain. They have a trick with their bread. They don't use preservatives, so you have to eat it within 2 days and then go back for more. It's a trap! They were out of almond and poppy seed strudel thingys, so I settled for apple, blueberry and cherry. I tried the lemon cake and it's great. But my favorite thing was the almond cake. Absolutely dreamy. It didn't make it home because I stopped at a friend's house on the way home to share some. All I got was just one slice. And I ate that before I had a chance to take its picture.

Inside, along with a nice size seating area to eat and bakery ordering line, they have ready made baked goods throughout many different bakery cases and fridges, as well as pre-packaged options. Everything from kringles to cookies and scones to cupcakes and full custom cakes. I had read about legendary cinnamon scones and have been a huge scone kick (especially cinnamon!), so I had to try them. Not only do they make cinnamon though, they take a unique approach to their fruit scones by filling them with fruit jelly, so of course I tried a lemon blueberry filled scone too. The filled ones are better in theory than practice. The lemon flavor of the dough was almost nonexistent and the blueberry jam didn't spread well enough to help out the other lacking flavors. The cinnamon scone absolutely could have potential, but unfortunately mine was overly hard and crumbly - I wish I had asked for a specific, newer and lesser-baked one, but such is life :)

Cuccidati Inc. had a booth at the event ... and they had me at the word "cuccidati". :-D LOVE these cookies! If you are unfamiliar, cuccidati are iced-and-sprinkled fig-filled Italian cookies. They're like a soft, delectable, gourmet, top-shelf, high-class, prettier Fig Newton, but way better, haha. Whenever I see an Italian cookie spread at a gathering, I always b-line for dibbs on the cuccidati. And Cuccidati Inc.'s cuccidati did not disappoint! These were a bit different from cuccidati I've had before. They weren't quite as sweet, not as thick-white of an icing as usual. And the filling seemed more natural, like more purely fig, as opposed to the more artificial extract flavor of some cuccidati. I do like the creamier cuccidati filling I'm used to, with more of a jam consistency. But these were good too, you could feel chewy bits of real fig fruit in each bite. If you prefer a cookie that isn't too rattle-your-teeth-sweet, you will probably enjoy Cuccidati Inc.'s cookies very much. We spoke with the owners when we were at the fresh-air market, and they were very sweet and friendly. They of course bake their namesake, but also bake many other cookies too. They don't have their own storefront, they sell by order, or at local venues and events. They are on the shelves at Buffalo Artisan Food Traders (https://www.yelp.com/biz/buffalo-artisan-food-traders-buffalo), so if you have a hankering for some delicious cuccidati, stop by there to grab a pack. Or check Cuccidati Inc.'s Facebook page for other upcoming local appearances - https://www.facebook.com/cuccidati.org - and mangia! :-D
