We came here while we waited for our hydrobike time slot. They have lots of seating indoors and outdoors. they also have a second floor with additional seating. It is right next to the water so you can enjoy a view. I only had time to order their fries, which were super thick, yummy, and oily!! They have a QR code on the table you sit at so you can conveniently order without having to wait for someone. After you order, someone will come and deliver your food or drink. Ballast Point isn't your regular dining spot. How it works: you sit at any open table, scan the barcode to view the menu, and you order and pay on there as well. The kitchen and bar will receive your order and take it to your table. I went around 12 pm on a Friday for the first time and had a nice experience overall. Drinks passed the test, and my fish tacos were amazing. It was relatively empty but I heard it gets packed at later hours and a reservation is highly recommended,especially for bigger parties. We had two main servers checking up on us throughout our visit. My friend's order was taking a bit longer than mine, but they made sure to keep us updated that it was in the works and if we needed anything else. This place was great, got a mix of apps and drinks as we came to see if the boat tours are worth it. Ended up finding a top notch brewery along the way. Nachos had a hefty serving of steak and the flavors were incredible, drinks were tasty and the wings were surprisingly big. Mostly self service when you order from their mobile app, the bar was pretty stacked for the weekend and the vibes in the area are high with live music and tons of full parking lots. Definitely good for groups, a night out with friends or date night like us as you walk the harbor and get to see a bunch of options in the same little block. This place never disappoints. I like to go here when my best friend is visiting from out of town. The beer selections are great, you'll be sure to find something for your flavor profiles even if you're not a typical beer drinker. There's also other beverages. Food here is also delicious. We split the burger. There's also a kids menu which was great since we had a minor with us. Family friendly for sure. Service here is always excellent. The family cruised over to ballast point for dinner last Saturday. It wasn't too busy around 5:30. We got a table outside upstairs as it was a seat yourself situation. You have to scan the barcode on the table to order. It actually worked out great. You order and pay at the same time and food and drinks come out pretty quick! The only downside is that there aren't servers coming to check on your table to see if you need anything. At least we didn't experience that. There are indoor and outdoor spaces that you can roam around. It gets very, very, very busy on the weekend . Parking can be very hard to find. And it was very hot. Their AC system is not good. We had a few drinks, the products are wine base, the hubster had two of the craft beers The problem with this place is not that you necessarily order from the app, (I really did not like this), but that when ordering, you are asked to tip in advance, really! If I tip in advance there is no need for the server to work to get the tip. Once our food was delivered , the server never came back and checked on us, we had to flag them down for anything else. My all time favorite is no longer consistent with their food. There have been a few hiccups, recently! I tend to shoot for their Steak Nachos which are unique due to their cheese sauce (white sauce/cheese). On two occasions I've been served day old steak and I mean old (couldn't eat my second bite). The first time, I put the steak aside but the second time, I had to return it and order something new. Service and ambiance is always on point. And thanks to Diego, my new dish and refund of the steak nachos went smoothly. He checked on me and made sure everything was running smoothly. I sure miss the poke/tuna bowl they had at one point. The manager was rude, condescending and out of line. He pulled my friend privately away from our table, where all of us were enjoying our drinks, and told him that this was "normal practice" and he should expect confusion with an out of state id. NO APOLOGY here's the kicker: We all, the 5 other friends had out of state IDs and no issues. On top of that the manager claimed that the UV markings on his ID were not accurate but still ended up serving him and didn't apologize when shown a picture of his passport. It is understandable for an establishment to check if an ID is real but 20+ minutes with his personal property out of sight at least warrants an apology. read more

This place was absolutely stunning! It is such a wonderful spot to check out, particularly at sunset! It had a fun, lively vibe on a Sunday when I went to visit. My friend and I chose to get cocktails (specially the peach mojito) and they were delicious! The pastrami burger and truffle fries were excellent and overall the service was pretty quick. The only challenge I had was with my phone while trying to place my order from the table. The menu can be found via QR code, however it was challenging getting the website to work and checking out- had to place my order through my friend's phone. But after a few hours I had stomach craps and other things happening. I noticed another person has reported an issue as well. Let's start with cons, because they might matter to folks. Cons: It is a very large and crowded venue, parking is both abundant and, when busy, a complete PITA, and it might be the noisiest place I've ever eaten in, even given its size. Pros: Every server (and gosh, do they believe in staffing, because I must have interacted with at least six of them) was friendly and courteous and engaged. The beer selection was impressive both in range and quality (I've had Ballast Point before, but the in-house selection is so much broader). And the Pastrami Fries -- the one food item I tried -- were perhaps the best pub food I've eaten in my life. Perfectly cooked, saucy, salty, cheesy, and with more than enough proportion to justify the price tag and feel like a meal. The folks by me had the nachos and a pretzel, and both emerged perfectly cooked and were wolfed down. If you can deal with the noise and crowds, this place is worth visiting! read more

My friend wanted to take me to lunch with a scenic ocean view and suggested this local spot. Parking was easy which was a plus and upon arrival they had a cute little giftshop. We were "somewhat greeted" by a young man wearing very small Ray-Ban glasses for his face. Didn't seem very friendly or helpful but we managed to find a semi-cozy spot to sit. It was a hot day and we decided to get the whole ocean view experience by sitting outside. They had waiters around but my friend told me that orders were mainly done via online/QR code app. My only concern was that I had a severe seafood allergy and felt I needed to inform a live person other than an app. That's when I flagged down Yesenia, our saving grace. She was amazing and helpful. She gave us drink recommendations as we ordered our food. Most of her drink recommendations weren't on the menu so it helped an insider knew what to order. After ensuring my food safety we ate, drank and talked merrily. Would I come back to this spot? Yes, but in hopes that Ysenia or someone like her would be willing to offer great customer service. My friend introduced me to this place! Right by the beach so you know the views are going to be good. Bathrooms are right by the entrance and clean. It was cold that day, so we opted to sit inside in a booth. We got two burgers ($17 each), wings ($18), and fries ($10). You scan a QR code and they bring the food to you. The wait was long -- place is huge but it was a random Thursday at 4pm and there wasn't many people so not sure why. The wings and fries were okay, nothing much to comment on. Have come here on multiple occasions and all experiences have been very positive. First time was on Mother's Day which was busy as expected, but we had no problem finding a nice seat inside facing the dock. Service was punctual and friendly. I especially like the system of just scanning the QR code on the table and having your food and drink already be on its way without having to actually flag down anybody. Beer selection was great of course, but the wings here are phenomenal. Perfect texture and seasoning. Came here a 2nd time on a random Monday not being as crowded, but my opinion on service, food, and drinks all remained the same. Nice to sit on the patio and watch all the boats going in and out of the harbor. Also a really great view to catch the sunset. Parking is shared up in front with a couple of other restaurants, but seemed to be plentiful enough. If you happen to have a small boat or duffy, there are actually boat slips right on the other side of the building hugging the water (free of charge). Large groups should plan to arrive early as they do first come/first serve seating (both indoor and outdoor options and various table/lounge arrangements). Ordering + checkout is done simultaneously through a tablet so the table can order multiple rounds of food and drink. Part of our group had trouble checking out with only card information, so I would recommend using Google or Apple Pay. Their beer is more expensive than at usual breweries, but standouts for me were the cider and hard kombucha. In terms of food, it's mostly hit or miss. Our favorites are the spinach artichoke dip and cucumber noodles. The "beetza" we ordered was interesting, but far too sweet and bordered on dessert-like, and the fish and chips were incredibly dry and lacked flavor. Their menu has some seasonal shellfish items, but those aren't clearly denoted. Ballast Point overall is a nice date or hangout spot and can be very picturesque, but new visitors should look into their seating policy and ordering method in advance. Food and drinks are expensive relative to the quality and taste, so the atmosphere seems to be what people visit for. read more
