A friend and I stopped by CJ's Bar & Grill again while visiting Bryson City and had a another great experience. The wings were excellent and very reasonably priced, and the place has new TVs that make it a great spot to watch a game. The best part was meeting the owner. Since we were new in town, he took the time to share some local history, recommend things to do, and even give us a few trout fishing tips. That kind of hospitality really made the visit memorable. Great food, friendly people, and a welcoming local vibe. Definitely worth stopping in. read more

For the food it is bland. If you are considering eating here try cardboard first. I had the Philly cheese steak and onion rings. The Philly cheese steak was dry and had a similar texture to a TV dinner. The onion rings were hard and over cooked. The service was comparable to a haunted mansion. I am not exaggerating I am so serious. The blonde lady as our waitress showed up 2-3 times in the hour and a half we were there. And lied about the food almost being ready. It was ready and waiting to come to the table and was cold before getting to us. After we tried to get our check the waitress was confrontational and had a disgusting attitude. I went to Polor Express and this was across the street from there. We walked and it's a bar restaurant. We decided to eat outside on the patio. The servers were nice but they were very slow. It seemed they were short staffed so i understood. Well first off they ran out of Pinot Grigio and then they ran out of ice!! Ice!! The bar boy had to go down the street and buy ice! O and this was on a Tuesday. The food was not good. We ordered nachos and they came with only 6 tortilla chips- weird. The wings were not great either. Grilled chicken salad looked like a side salad with 6 grilled chicken strips on it. They really need to work on getting a new chef and an updated menu. read more

First visit, Saturday lunch. Seems a lot of restaurants in town are just opening post-Covid. Social distance seating was intact. We sat on their porch overlooking the train depot. I had a cheeseburger and onion rings and they had full flavor and juiciness that I would expect. My wife had the chicken fingers & fries and said that they were good and above the average. This place appears to be first and foremost a bar and is a little bit grungy inside. I used the men's room and it was in dire need of a make-over. Worst yet, with all of the concerns over Covid, the hygiene factor was not especially good. The large roll of paper towel that should have been placed in the paper towel dispenser was lazily left sitting on top of their nasty sink. Interesting enough, I stopped by this same restaurant later that evening to have a beer; they were out of their local beers, which is why I came there so I declined any beer. I used the restroom before I left and that same roll of towel was sitting on top of the sink, half wet due to everyone having to pick it up to tear off towel and then sitting it back down on the wet sink top. Eight hours had went by since I had lunch there! The owner was also there at this time. With the supposed concern with Covid, they might want to start by at least keeping their restroom up to code. Minimum 1 star deduction for poor restroom servicing. read more

One of the worst dining experiences in a long time! They were busy, granted, but three tables that were seated and ordered well after us, were served their food before us! Our waitress cared. Gonna be honest. Really odd experience. Cant say the food was terrible but it wasn't exceptional. Food was luke warm as if it had been prepared 10 minutes before serving. Service was alright, nothing spectacular or over the top. I got a burger with a fried egg and bacon. Bacon was undercooked and raw on the inside. Was in a good mood so I didn't complain about it but considering the whole table had raw bacon, pretty sure it wouldn't have made a difference. We tried to dine her before our Polar Express ride. We arrived with over an hour, and we're directed to the patio, which was not a problem. We waited long enough to be served that we thought we may need to go inside to order. The servers for our table and the table next to us came out at the same time. We They recorder food and and drinks at the same time but she only took drink orders; the table behind us had their food before we had drinks. When we finally favor our orders we asked if we had time and we were told we should. Five minutes before we needed to be at the train we were told they were starting to work on the order and they would wrap it up. Some of us left while two people stayed to wait for the food. They received the food at 6:25 (we were supposed to board the train at 6:20) and ran for the train. When we distributed the food on the train, we were missing THREE meals (the meals for the kids, of course). Mistakes happen on busy night, and I get that, but after the ride we went back and they didn't seem to care at all. Apparently one meal never got keyed and there was no apology, just "we can't refund you for something you didn't pay for!" No, but they could have made it right with the rest of the meal. I do not recommend, especially when the town is busy because they aren't equipped to handle it. read more

The service is great, the burgers are generous, but I left wishing I hadn't ordered anything else. I got the chili cheese fries, and if a thing costs over eight dollars you may expect it to have actual cheese, not the stuff squeezed out of a can.
