I was dubious to say the least but I had a hankering for Chinese and this place pleasantly surprised me. It's located on a main drag opposite The Cape Cod Mall just near the local airport. It's open, spacious and very clean. It was busy here. The staff are super helpful and friendly with efficient service. Parking a breeze or if you are staying at one of the many hotels on this strip of road, it's an easy walk. The food was very very good. We had regular Chinese food but if you want sushi they also have a sushi bar, which is located directly across from a bar. The whole set up here is very well done. My husband had the duck and loved it. They have a large menu with a full bar. The whole night was great and I highly recommend this establishment if you are in the mood for Chinese as I was. The pickings are slim here on the Cape but thankfully this was available and great. read more

Came for the second time tonight and everything was really good. Last time we had the buffet which was great, and tonight we ordered off the menu. Crab rangoons, sushi and some entrees and everything was delicious. I loved the beef with mushroom entree which included lots of fresh veggies and a really great oyster sauce! The sushi was good and they even have a few rice-less sushi options. Our server was super attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. On my last day in Hyannis I decided to drop by for lunch and what a find! The restaurant was very nice, friendly staff and the host was very accommodating. Started off with some traditional appetizers such a Scallion Pancakes, Egg Rolls and Spicy Scallop which were made to perfection. Let's be real, most sushi is good sushi, it;s very hard to screw up basic sushi, as long as the ingredients are fresh and the hand rolls are tight, the sushi is good. The difference between bad sushi and good sushi is huge, and the difference between good sushi and amazing sushi is very minor. Being from NYC and spoiled by amazing cheap sushi, this place disappointed only because of the high price tag. Bamboo has good sushi, but I suspect there may be better sushi on the Cape and next time we will try some other place. We did not feel the price tag was justified by the quality, other places are less costly. Staff: The staff were polite enough but rushed me off the phone, perhaps they were swamped with the dinner rush, no hard feelings, just letting you know. Covid: They offered free hand sanitizer by the door and had plastic/glass shields between the staff and customers. All around I felt like the proper precautions were being taken. Food: The sushi was good but not anything memorable. Short ribs were less flavorful than most places. Edamame were good. Egg roll was good and meaty with the stuffing. The summer rolls were mostly iceberg lettuce, it was like eating straight up iceberg lettuce. They gave us tasty chocolate fortune cookies. Price: For a place that has most hand rolls priced $10-$17 the quality did not match the high price tag. This review would be 4 stars if the price was not so high, and if they did not push chef special rolls at $14-$22 a pop. Ok food - Scezhuan Tofu is delicious- i didn't appreciate the server (JC) telling me that I didn't want my food the way I asked for it. - I know what I want as far as food goes. Inattentive service throughout, and I really didn't get a kick out of the server explaining to our table how the bus person who was wiping up a spill did wrong by clearing the table to wipe it down. She wouldn't have had to do so if he had attended to a water spill. I am NOT IMPRESSED. Lastly, it may be unreasonable to expect that when the check is dropped - I won't. Have to hunt for someone to pay. When I asked the host to pay the check, he squarely told me - pay the server. After another minute or so, I asked the host if he could help me find my server - this brought about a begrudging attitude, a glaring side glance. I've siad enough. Pretty big menu with Chinese and Japanese options and lunch specials for around $12. Very nice staff. They messed up my order one of the times I got a sushi combo but it was still delicious. Spicy tuna maki is very good and all the fish in general is fresh. General Gau's chicken is the very sticky sweet Americanized kind. I was gonna meet a buddy at Bamboo in Hyannis for some sushi. I was running late so I told him to meet me there. When I got there, he had been waiting for FIFTEEN min and nobody stopped by to ask if he wanted anything to drink. Then the waiter (which was also the bartender) came and I asked what he had on tap. Instead of telling me he pointed towards the bar and said it was also on the drinks menu. Then I complained and said my friend had been waiting for 15 min and no one showed up to take his drink order. Also I said it was rude to point at the beer taps instead of answering my question. I asked if there was any combination of sushi/sashimi I could order. He said "No combination!" After checking the menu further I found a sushi/sashimi sampler. I confronted him and showed him the menu option I just had found. Because it's a busy place, I decided to cut him a break and I told him "Look, we started on the wrong foot; let's do it again and clean the slate"; I introduced myself and asked his name: JASON. He shook my hand and APPARENTLY accepted my peace offer. Then I asked for a beer and placed our order (2 sushi samplers, about 70 bucks). He kept coming to our table to say he asked the chefs to hurry up with our order, but it was all part of his covert revenge. After patiently waiting for our food, I ordered another beer and started looking around (we had a high table across the bar) and noticed a couple that had just arrived 15 min after us being served already this elaborated sushi dish... That's when it dawned on me: JASON was doing it on purpose! I told him "How come there are people that came after us already being served and we're still waiting??" He gave me some flimsy excuse; After FORTY-FIVE minutes waiting, my patience got thin! I got up, paid for my beers and left. I guess now JASON the bartender/waiter has a story to brag about to his coworkers on how he treated a restaurant guest like S**T and got away with it. I asked the kid wearing a suit at the front desk if there was a manager I could talk to but it fell on deaf ears. Fellow Diners, stay away from a restaurant where a higher-ranking employee with a bruised ego comes before a paying guest! PS: This is my very FIRST negative Yelp review. Portions have become insanely small - too many servers are now unaccommodating and clearly not enjoying their job. The feeling that anyone in this restaurant cares about the customer anymore has disappeared. The other Bamboo and Mandarin establishments located off-Cape are still GREAT. And my family will continue to go. But the Hyannis spot? It's turned into a shortcutting disaster. Used to be good too. Portions 50% smaller . . .so we leave hungry and feeling cheated? I'd love to give Bamboo 5 stars. First, the place is beautiful. Those of you familiar with Hyannis, know this is the old Uno's spot, and they've done a lot of work. A+ for renovations. Upon walking in we were met with confusion to say the least. We were reminded they had just opened up, and obviously we already realize this. They get a small pass for the "we just opened up", but keep in mind, these owners have several locations, so rookies they are not. Sans reservations they still were able to sit my party of 5, points for this, though surprisingly for a brand new place it was slow. Our waitress was sweet as pie and she too reminded us they just opened up, and this was in fact her second day. It showed. Dirty plates left on the table, we had to ask other servers for water you get the idea. I don't want to bust her up too much because she was very nice, and accommodated our every whim, just a bit behind the eight and nine ball for that matter. The food: I had the Beef Satay, and frankly it was bland. The fried rice was amongst the freshest I've ever had. The sushi was an 8 out of 10, I don't eat it, but my wife did. Prices are a bit on the steep side for a place that felt more like a chain than a nice stand out. Overall I wasn't overly impressed by the food. I'm hoping they have kinks to work out and we as early on clients were part of that fold. Definitely plan on giving it another shot. read more

Have been to this locale a few times as a resident of Hyannis, I wholeheartedly would implore to stray from this location. The food was prepared well and was adequate. I have nothing negative to note kn behalf of their chefs. More importantly their management and FoH staff; I found to be incredibly rude or just plain lack hospitality etiquette. Wherever I go as a patron I am beyond hospitable because I'm looking for an experience and you're handling food for my family and myself. Before the pandemic they were amazing food portion size and Ala Carte dining, Buffet' and mannerisms. I went in a few years ago and they didn't have the buffet option, sad but shit happens, so I'd go in to dine the Ala Carte option only to be greeted by the Cuck to emphasize they didn't have a buffet option to raising her voice abruptly and nastily also to have a blood nasty wound on her forhead, so I left and didn't Return for years. Last week I decided to go back a much more accommodating visit but still lacking mannerisms, much smaller portion sizes, when spending $150 on a fee entrees and drinks I'd expect a decent size. Afraid not my obese friend ha... I've been a restaurant manager for 20 years and the vibe of friendless was sorely lacking.. I could just be an asshole but when eating out I'm incredible kind. We went here a few weeks ago on the Cape when I had a craving for sushi. It was a small buffet, but everything that we tasted was quite good. I particularly liked the salmon rolls, and the different varieties of sushi they had. The hot food was good as well... There was some sort of shrimp appetizer that was fried and perhaps wrapped in some sort of vegetable... Anyway, it was particularly good. They also had the usual chicken and pork stir fry type dishes. I brought the kids, and there was plenty for them to eat... Rice, noodles, chicken fingers... That sort of thing. It felt family friendly, and was a nice change from the fish and chips we usually get on the Cape... Although I do love good fish and chips. read more
