The food was delish, but service was absolutely lacking! The Ocean Roll was delicious, and it's true that no wasabi or soy sauce is needed. In fact, he roll is already "dressed" perfectly to be enjoyed on it's own (soy sauce is kind of an "insult" to this roll...). It just would've been nice if I didn't have to wait SO long for my tab , or for a box for my leftovers. I don't give bad reviews anymore, but I want to give constructive feedback. Layout and Decor: Felt like a hotel lobby restaurant. A ton of investment in display but felt a bit kitschy. The lighting was too dark. Not in a warm romantic sort of way. Just cold, dim, and spread out. Professionally designed and printed menu and collateral. Again a flag that this might not your "traditional" Japanese place. Sushi: sushi and sashimi were good. Entrees: ordered the black cod. Prepared with interesting sauce of citrus and miso. Super salty but sweet at the same time. Trying to create unique flavor combos but it completely overpowered the fish. I think a Japanese person would be thinking wtf, why would you do that to to this dish. But clearly the chef was giving the standard grilled black cod a creative spin. Western culinary ideals meets Japanese: one prides itself on originality, the other on perfecting what already exists. So which one does the diner seek when they desire good Japanese food? Conclusion: I came to realize this restaurant is really Japanese-inspired American cuisine. Like a high end Japanese PF Chang's. That's not a criticism, just come in with those expectations and you probably won't be disappointed. read more

Pretty solid sushi joint. The nigiri here, if you get it with the chef's choice toppings, is not going to be like the typical nigiri but some of them were certainly very interesting and tasty. The fish quality is also very fresh and good quality as well. I got the karaage here too. I thought it was just fine. Didn't really stand out but wasn't bad either. Service is also good here. We come to Bamboo often, probably 1-2 times per month. Today we received the absolutely best service from Anna. We were seated quickly, and from there everything was stellar. I honestly think Bamboo Sushi is my favorite sushi in the world, and I've been to Japan. The freshness and flavor is on point. We have been obsessed with Bamboo for years as we travel to Portland often, and finally it's here in Seattle. The Green Machine is so delicious, my husband and I often order two each! We also absolutely love the Oro King Salmon Nigiri because of the delicious citrus element from the lemon zest - so tasty. Everything we ate at Bamboo was amazing. My party and I got the Friday the 13th, Sunset and salmon roll which all came out very quick. I enjoyed all of them and our server was also very accommodating. I also ordered a sake sangria on the side and we kept waiting and waiting for it. We were coming to the end of our meal and the drink still hasn't come out yet. We got apologies from our server and the manager and finally got it when our meal was all eaten up. It sucked because I really wanted to enjoy it with my food. We enjoyed our lunch at Bamboo. Our waitress, Susanna, recommended the spicy edamame to start, which we loved. They were not too spicy yet added flavor to the traditional edamame. We then had the Unicorn Roll, which is a crab roll and the spicy salmon roll-which were both decent. Our waitress was great, making recommendations and accommodations with a smile. Ordered: Friday the 13th roll, Shoshito Peppers, Ora King Salmon Sashimi, Miso soup Really enjoyed the Friday the 13th roll here but can't seem to understand how its a standard that they don't give soy sauce unless asked. I really like the roll we ordered but it definitely needed something else to balance out the other drier ingredients, and if you try this without the soy sauce then it'll definitely be noticeable. We also ordered shishito peppers which paired well with the miso butter and bacon- the peppers had a little kick to it which I liked. I was also craving sashimi so decided to try out some of their salmon. I was pretty disappointed to see the small portion size.. 5 slices for $18 initially seemed worth it for high quality salmon until I realized how small each piece was... (photo for reference). While it was definitely good, I'm not sure that I could justify paying such a steep price for such a tiny portion size. Miso soup was pretty standard. You would be really disappointed! If you walk into this place with a high expectation. First we waited in line for 45+ minutes close to an hour, than we finally got two seats at the sushi bar. So we sat down and we expected the waiter o bring us some water and take our orders, but what actually happened is that we waited for another 25+ minutes until the waiter came to take the order and water came afterwards. After taking the order, we wait another 30+minutes until the first item, sweet shrimp nigiri to arrive, which were pretty bad compare to the ones served at UMI Sake or other places Oh and others tables were provided many items to compensate for the wait but we were just ignored. We didn't even have soy sauce until we asked the server, which all other tables were greeted with soy sauce and edamame. Feels like we were targeted in a way. The two other rolls can me around 10+ minutes after, so please space out your schedule for at least 4 hour to eat at this place. Other tables whom also ordered rolls got their item way before of us, and the serVer didn't even bother to talk to us. One of the worst places I've e ever ate at in Seattle, the US and the world. I would be trying my best to share my experience with my community and talk people out of coming here for dinner. read more

We got the Northwest Philly Roll and Chasing the Dragon. The NW Philly was very good (5*). But Chasing the Dragon was almost inedible (1*) as it had a strong fishy flavor and a bad overall taste. I would get the NW Philly again and might try a different roll too next time, but a little disappointed that the $17 dragon roll went straight into the trash. On the plus side the pickup was really easy, just had to go to the pickup window and grab it from the outside, which took a total of 30 seconds. read more

I was rather disappointed with my order yesterday after my graduation. I had ordered food for my ride home for the past two weeks and although I wasn't thrilled last week with the roll I got, the first week was great. I get the crispy garlic tofu and a salmon roll. Yesterday however the tofu was overcooked to the point of being dry. The salmon roll I got was the crispy rice salmon. I kept thinking roll with things inside but it was hust 6 tiny pieces of rice and a lump of only mushed salmon on top. Not spicy, no flavor.18.00. Really great sushi - super fresh fish, unique rolls, and good wine list. Our only complaint would be the lack of heaters and covered area on the patio. The set up is great outside (on the south side, I believe)...but it isn't covered and no heat. I've been here a couple of times, and every time I've been impressed with the quality of food and the environment that's provided. Every meal I've had was worth ordering again, apart from maybe the veggie tempura. But their quality of seafood is so fresh, like melts in your mouth. The Ocean's Farmer roll is my favorite, the Sunset roll is good as well. I want to go back and try the Rivers and Streams roll. I would also recommend their Rainbow Bowl, all of the ingredients just taste really fresh. And you can't go wrong with their crispy rice. The service, in my opinion, is fantastic every time. Younes was our server and he was very attentive. Constantly checking in and making sure everything tasted good or if we needed anything extra. He even recommended dessert that was pound cake, ice cream and raspberry sauce. I would return just for that it, it was delicious! We were kind of ordering things on the fly and he handled it great. My wife and I discovered this place in Portland Oregon a few weeks ago and enjoyed our experience. We found out that there's a location in Seattle and have visited at least 4 times already. We're gluten intolerant and haven't had really good authentic sushi since the boarder to Canada closed, so discovering this gem is a really huge deal to us. Their menu is mostly gluten free and everytime we try a new item our tastebuds are out done! Or favorite waitress Amaya introduced us to the fried cauliflower and we get it everytime. All of the staff is genuinely friendly and professional. Best sushi place in the Pacific Northwest and we're not even missing going to Canada. read more
