ive gotten BAMBU five times within the past 2 weeks. such an underrated Vietnamese dessert. 16oz cup was around $8-$9 and the cup is filled all the way. u can ask for the ice in the cup or in a baggy on the side. the bambu special comes with grass jelly/red tapioca rubies/pandan jelly in sweetened coconut milk. overall not too sweet + the ice can mellow it out. i loved the equal ratios among the three toppings. served with both a straw and a spoon but i like to sip it with the straw! fast service. accept cash and card. plentiful seating inside that is always clean. easy parking everyday. rarely busy ever throughout the day. read more

Love their combination yogurt drink. Its sweet and tangy and full of fruit bits. They don't skimp out on the fruits which is why this is my go to drink. Its easy to order and they make it fast. First time having Che as well as the many ingredients in the drink. Came on a weekday and there wasn't that many people so was able to get our drink quickly. I can't really tell the difference between Bambu Favorite and Fruit Addict drinks that I got, so I'll just be describing my more favorite ingredients. First time having jackfruit and it's kind of similar to mango, not all that bad. One of the drinks had whole coconut and lychee in it which I was very surprised. My favorite part of both drinks though was definitely the pandan jelly and lychee jelly which had such a strong flavor to it. Che is like boba but upgraded, one drink will most definitely fill you up. Overall, okay experience. Che is kind of what you expect, coconut milk with a bunch of ingredients inside it. I think if you are a boba fan, would definitely recommend checking this out, but don't think this will replace my boba craving any time soon. read more

Haven't been to Bambu in a long time and can't wait to go back when I'm craving some che again. Ventured over on my lunch break when I was running errands, and the lady taking my order was super friendly. She checked if I wanted the ice packed with or separately. Good reminder for when the weather is warmer to order a few extra and get the ice packed separately to enjoy later. The store is quite small so I waited outside when I saw another customer approaching. Took a quick phone call, and when I looked up, my order was ready. It was inconvenient to eat with a spoon while I was working, so I only used the straw. Thus, there was some taro and bean medley left over. I poured some oat milk in and it surprisingly was yummy that way too. At $4.75 it is a reasonable price point for tastiness and satiety. read more

I had a very pleasant experience with the lady that was more than happy to make my coffee with coconut milk because of my lactose intolerance and allergies. The next day, I went to order the same drink but the clerk this time was a younger one and refused to make the coffee with coconut milks for some reason not doing her job properly. After taking a sip of the coffee she made with milk, the reviewer almost died of a skin rash and had thrown the coffee on the ground after explaining to her that if she does not listen to what people orders in detail people will die from her not making drinks properly due to allergies. The reviewer requested for either a refund or to have the girl make the drink with coconut milk and the clerk girl refused so the reviewer is now writing this glowing report. Luckily the reviewer did not have to use her epi pen!! The reviewer would like to recommend this place only if the Nana that owns the place is the one making the drinks but the young girl that was just a clerk is inexperienced, and that had the reviewer so livid that we cannot recommend this place at all until they redeem themselves to know how to listen to customers who have allergies. Whenever I'm feeling in need for some refreshing, authentic Vietnamese milk tea, Bambu is my absolute GO TO spot. I've been to quite a few of their location but something about the park Victoria one always has me coming back! It could be the wonderful customer service or the super sweet owner who is often there. The location- is prime near some of my favorite grocery stores so it has always been very convenient for me to stop by after running Errands. There is usually open parking right on the corner close to the shop itself. The variety- there are so many options and tea to choose from!! Some of my personal favorites are the avocado smoothie, oolong with salty cream, and definitely the Vietnamese coffee. Everything always tastes so fresh cause they use real tea. If you're used to fake sugary syrup milk tea then bambu will be very different. Snacks- they have all the Asian snacks (yummy dried shredded pork & more) that I grew up eating at the register so it's hard to not over indulge sometimes but in the very best way possible. Another favorite of mine is the pandan green waffle which is made to order. For me it's the perfect sweetness and always made to order which is a plus. Wow, I don't know why I had never set my foot in here before as a VIETNAMESE person. Their che is so bomb!!! San Jose is blessed to have this franchise everywhere unlike LA where I think we have just one location in Panorama City. I got the Bambu Favorite which is a nice refreshing drink with coconut juice, basil seeds, pandan jelly, and coconut chunks! This was sweet, but not overpowering like their Che 3 Mau. My boyfriend got the Bo Dam (Smashed Avocado) which was also delicious was well. Definitely, this che was more sweet than Bambu Favorite as there was more condensed milk added. This drink has avocado, coffee jelly, and other colorful jellies. Sorry, I don't know all of the exact ingredients, but they're all bomb! You can adjust the sweetness on their drinks too. There only seems to be 2 remaining Bambu's left standing in the Bay Area, which in my opinion is a shame. Bambu provides authentic, reasonably priced Vietnamese desserts and dessert drinks. Several locations around the Bay seem to have closed almost simultaneously, as if there was a franchise dispute, however this is only my personal speculation. This particular location located in Milpitas on South Park Victoria Drive shares a parking lot with several other shops so parking should not be an issue. This is a small shop so it's really designed to grab and go, especially as things stand in 2021 thus far. My favorite dessert drink here is their #12(Green Bean Jelly) which has green beans, pandan jelly, and grass jelly in coconut milk. I have been consistently ordering this drink for countless years now. For the time being, they are offering Taro waffles and they are crispy on the outside, mochi chewy like in the center, and the taro flavor is perfectly balanced. read more

I'm sad to say that there seems to be only two Bambu's left standing(as of this review) in the South Bay. There are two Bambu's in the Peninsula but I would not recommend you go out of your way to go to those unless you're desperate, mostly because you pay more for less quantity at these two Peninsula locations and if you're used to what you get at the former South Bay locations then you will be disappointed as I have been many many times before, even though I still go because there are just no good alternatives in the Peninsula for Che desserts. I came to the Milpitas(South Park Victoria Drive) location this past weekend to order my usual #1-Bambu Special(Fresh coconut, pandan jelly, longan, basil seeds, in coconut water) and I noticed they had a new menu offering of Taro Waffles which I decided to give it a try because I love most anything with Taro. The Bambu Special dessert drink was full of ingredients and as good as I remember from all of my other South Bay trips to Bambu. The real news is I was blown away by the Taro Waffle, which had a chewy mochi center and a crispy outside. It was so delicious, I almost couldn't believe I was eating this treat. It's a shame that all of the other South Bay locations(except for Sunnyvale) seem to be permanently closed. I can only speculate that there was some kind of licensing dispute with the franchise owner(s). At least, I can occasionally make my way all the way to Milpitas for my sweet treats. read more

My favorite place for Vietnamese dessert drinks! I recently started getting the fruity one that has jack fruit, coconut, lychee, etc. But I usually just like it with coconut milk and the red tapioca. The red tapioca is actually just water chestnut in tapioca starch. It is my favorite :) I make it a point to always stop and get a drink if I am near a Bambu. I don't live very close to one so it is my special treat to myself. Their Vietnamese coffee, yogurt smoothies and avocado smoothie is really good too. I definitely recommend this place. read more

Off we went to this location as the other one on Hostetter was the parking location site where his car got broken into (in the middle of dinner time in the pouring rain) and that still haunts him. L O C A T I O N We didn't realize this Bambu existed as it's not in a plaza that we've ever visited. It's a tiny one off of S Park Victoria. Parking is fairly limited but there's not many establishments there that are popular. I N T E R I O R Inside the spot is also small, modern and clean. I do appreciate the menu item photos on the wall that are artistically laid out. M E N U The menu is pretty standard to all the other Bambu. What was nice are the cups displayed for toppings behind the glass. They basically serve Vietnamese che aka dessert shaved ice on top of jellies, beans, etc with coconut milk. S E R V I C E The person at the cashier was the person also serving our drink. She was okay. Not very enthused but hey, it's a Monday afternoon. They also have Five Star which is convenient. But downside was the big sign saying "Cash Only." O V E R A L L The drink we got was okay. The Bo Dam had fairly large avocado pieces which were inconvenient to drink. 1. Durian smoothie was 99% ice and maaaybe 1% durian/sweetener. Worst one I've had compared to other Bambu locations. Basically threw away $9.30 for a regular sized smoothie that turned out to be crunchy and tasteless 2. The two male cashiers gave me and my partner dirty looks the whole time. Now I'm purely speculating, but it sure felt like a racially-based microaggression (been there countless times and this wasn't any different). There are spots located in front of the business and off to the side. This Bambu is pretty small in comparison to other locations but does the job. We came into a completely dead joint but I'm not going to complain that there wasn't a line. The girl at the register was prompt, friendly, and very efficient. Drinks are alright but the Vietnamese desserts are delicious. My must haves: -Bambu Special (fresh coconut juice, longan, basil seed, coconut flesh, & pandan jelly) -Smashed Avocado (fresh avocado, assortment of jelly, condensed milk, & pearls -but I normally exclude item) -Fruit Addict (jello chunks, lychee fruit, longan fruit, jackfruit, palm seed, red tapioca, coconut flesh, pandan jelly, & coconut milk) -Awesome Trio/Che 3 Mau (coconut milk, red beans, white beans, mung beans, taro, & pandan jelly) FYI- you are more than welcome to customize your very own concoction. I was very impressed with the choices to have here. I am so anxious to go back and have another drink. Their Mango slush with boba and chia seeds was refreshing. The employee was so nice and patient and plesant. My husband really enjoyed his mango and peach slush. They really didn't last long by the time we got home, they were gone.
