Wow! I'm so excited I found Bambu! I moved to Ridgefield not long ago and was missing my go-to sushi delivery place from my previous town. I used a third-party delivery service to order from Bambu, and it was worth every penny. I'm just partway through my sashimi deluxe dinner, but I decided to leave a review now because it is amazing! So fresh, beautifully prepared and presented, and a much nicer variety of fish than you tend to get at a run-of-the-mill sushi place. I look forward to visiting Bambu in the future! In the meantime, I can justify the price if I want some delivery. read more

The sushi here was fantastic! We had the pearl roll (it had fried oysters inside and pink seaweed.. I think it was pickled). They were delicious! We also tried an eel roll and a mackerel roll.. These were good but the pearl roll was better. The staff was very friendly, the ambience was nice (the rooms were very dark with mood lighting). Side note- they do have a kids menu but it is Very dark and there was a bar right next to our table. I'm not sure I'd take kids. read more

I didnt handle the bill, and may friend said she did leave a tip, we always tip, maybe it wasn't what they expected? I have no idea. Great for happy hour drinks - 1/2 off everything (and they aren't stingy in their pours!). The $5 app menu was a dissappointment. The portions were so small that we were better off just ordering from the regular menu. The atmosphere, in regards to design and furniture, is very modern and sexy. On the otherhand, the crowd Bambu attracts is very mixed. Given the location, you would think the bar would be chock full of young professional - but it's definitely more or a "townie" bunch. Not that there's anything wrong with that! It's just worth pointing out. As other Yelpers have mentioned, the food is fresh and tastes good, but across the board the offerings are overpriced. We racked up a good tab, $ 294.00 including drinks but what got me was they charged for ICE in our single malt scotch after dinner drinks. i'm gonna start by saying, should have gone to Koo. We came in with a 5:30 reservation only to wait 10 minutes to be sat down. Waitress did not ask how we were doing tonight or anything just "do you want something to drink", probably came to our table twice in the span of an hour and a half, took 45 min for our food to come out. we got surf and turf hibachi which had noodles so dry and tasteless. the lobster tail wasn't even to size and the food came out cold. tables are uncomfortably close together i felt like i couldn't have a conversation with my dinner guest without feeling like the whole room could here us. i will not be eating here again. read more

I've been to Bambu twice before, usually when I'm attending a convention in the area that happens in August. Both times I've been pleased with both the service and the food. Since this is a bit more of an upscale Japanese/Asian fusion restaurant (at least by my standards) there's no all you can eat sushi option, but even if it's a bit more pricy, it's worth it. The first time I went to Bambu with a couple of friends attending the con and I paid maybe $25 or so for my meal since I kept it cheap. I forget exactly which items I ordered, but the sushi was delicious and the presentation was fantastic, complete with one of those little color-changing lights. The second time I was with a large crowd of friends and even though there were a lot of us, they got everyone's order correct and brought everything out in a timely fashion. I remember that I ordered a Lychee Martini that was good and strong, even to my friends and I who are no strangers to alcoholic beverages. I went all out and got a Sushi and Sashimi entree which was absolutely delectable (sashimi is thankfully more filling than most people expect) for dinner, followed by an Exotic Bomba for dessert (I believe it's chocolate covered ice cream with passionfruit puree or something along those lines). I've had Exotic Bombas at various restaurants and this one was as good as all the others. For everything altogether (including the tip which they include in the total for you, at least for a group as large as mine was), the total came to $64. I have personally enjoyed Bambu. The waiters and waitresses are really nice and always are around to serve. However, the food isn't always as good and fresh as it should be. For example, I usually get the sushi rolls and the fish isn't always as fresh. For getting sushi, that's one of the most important factors to not getting sick. I have stopped getting their tuna roll because it tastes way too fishy for my liking. Their other things on the menu have been okay, nothing to brag about. They also constantly mess up on take out orders. That's annoying, so I always check the bag before leaving the restaurant because of this issue. The hibachi isn't that great but the portion sizes are decent and the atmosphere is nice. I will be returning but it's not my first choice. read more

I am a huge sushi fan, and ran into Bambu by accident. I'm so glad I did! My friends and I went there for some steak and sushi. I had the geisha roll and some steak. I can honestly say that roll was the best sushi I have ever had. My friend got the salmon sashimi and it was also phenomenal. The steak was to die for. Everything was perfect. OMG!! My boyfriend and I just ate here and the sushi rolls r freaking amazing. We had the Godzilla roll, the crazy tuna roll, and the snow mountain roll and every one was different but very very good. They even got to us really fast! Usually rolls take forever but not here. As soon as we got them we dug in and finished all three within minutes. So far this place beats them all! We also got dessert. The mochi ice cream and the exotic bomba. Both delicious!! We tried this place today for an early dinner on the way home . Place is clean and tables are nicely spaced apart. Waitress was attentive and very sweet . My husband had sushi and reported it was fresh . I had the Thai basil shrimp dish which was a little spicy and had a colorful selection of veggies with shrimp . We went for hibachi on a Monday night. Were seated at station. We had to wait for more guests / patrons to come in and sit at our grill before they took our order. We waited over 20 minutes for ANYONE to arrive. Don't know why Bambu made us wait when the place wasn't crowded - there was only 1 other hibachi / grill station in use. Sushi servings were teeny - very small and overpriced for what you got. Hibachi chef was good natured and funny. Woman who I assume was the restaurant manager was rude and didn't seem to like us. After dinner, she took a take-out bag to the other patrons at our grill, was all nice, chit-chatted with them, bagged their left-overs and wished them a nice night. For us, she literally tossed the bag at me and told me to bag the leftovers myself. No chit-chat, no pleasantries, just plain rude. Very unprofessional and poor customer service. For a while, I stopped coming to Bambu due to the lack of quality in their sushi and just average happy hour specials. I honestly think their happy hour was the only thing keeping the previous owner in business since it was a pretty reasonable price for a massive Sapporo, among other pours. I went on hiatus for a bit, but then heard about them under new management. My buddy invited me to stop by for a drink this past weekend, so I figured I could give Bambu a second chance. The vibe when you walk in was definitely different than it once was. The lighting was something I noticed first, which bode well with the classy barlike feel, I thought that's what they were going with at happy hour at least. Everything just felt so warm, but that could also be because it's the holidays, things just felt better. One of my friends from high school bartends there and of course the night I go he's bartending, pretty nice to catch up for a bit. Along with the reasonable beer specials at Bambu, my friend also made a mean old fashioned with Bookers, one of my favorite bourbons. I also ordered a miso soup and a spicy tuna roll since I met up with the friend who invited me and few other friends I haven't seen in a while. Years ago at this location I had my first experience with hibachi and as a young teenager thought it was the coolest thing ever. This restaurant has been through several changes since and I had not been back in years. As I got older I got a bit bored with hibachi as I discovered the wonderful world of sushi. Last week I came back to check out the current incarnation of this old Danbury staple and was pleasantly surprised by both the hot and cold food. Dining out with my 2 brothers who are also fans of Asian food we decided to start with some sushi and have hibachi for dinner. We ordered some sushi ala carte and found it to be very fresh and tasty. For dinner we all had filet combos, mine with scallops my brothers had lobster tail. I think we all agreed that the scallops were more flavorful and tender than the lobster but everything was really good and prepared by a skilled and entertaining chef. Only draw back was that despite having draft beer (a plus) the IPA I ordered seemed to be a bit old so to follow up i ordered a can of Japanese beer and it was fine.
