Quality of food is always consistent. I've been going here for a few years now. The staff are hardworking and very friendly. Seems to do a lot of take out so it's not usually busy to dine in. It's also very clean! I typically order the same things because I love them so much. I tried their Thai iced coffee for the first time and it was strong! My drunken noodles with chicken is perfectly seasoned and they always give lots of cashews with the chicken. Definitely try this place out :) read more

Skeptical at first due to this restaurant's location, but when you walk in, you are greeted by the friendly staff, maybe owner and although it doesn't look like much this restaurant served some of the best Thai dishes I have tried. I've been here many times/years ago when this was strictly Thai restaurant. Now it's more of southeast Asian cuisine and I really like it. Their prices are much better compared to other similar places in the area. In particular; the Kao Piek (which is chicken soup with homemade noodles topped with crunchy scallions, cilantro and ginger) is outstanding. This soup is the perfect warm comforting meal. Also tried the app sampler and everything was delicious. And Bubble tea. Seems like they've really made themselves stand out. Since moving from New York we felt that none of the Thai food in the area was up to par, but we were really impressed with our food. We love this place and finding out I had never reviewed it I knew that needed to be changed. I love the homey feel low lit ambiance with the very attentive and friendly staff. The head waitress is a bubble of energy as well as great at recommending dishes when you're looking for the most authentic tastes. My go-to drink is a coconut bubble tea so of course I started there. We had the curry puffs, chicken larb salad and Tom ka gai soup. My only drawback was the chicken larb because I did not expect the chicken to be cold so I was off put. It was delicious just as everything else was, I'm just not a cold chicken eater. The curry puffs are simply devine and the accompanying sauce I could just drink. The Tom ka gai soup was perfect. Coconut lemongrass cilantro scallion and tender slices of chicken with chunked mushroom. The marrying of flavors in a myriad tapestry across the tongue. For our entree we wanted duck which is on the special board at the front and I'm assuming not many people order it as it's not posted on any of the table menus. We love duck and the crispy sweet crunchy yet tender way they prepare it is one of the best. We ended up with Mongolian duck and I think it's going to be our go to every time. This used to be our favourite Thai restaurant. We hope they get back to normal soon. We have noticed a significant change in the quality and taste of their food. It has also become somewhat inconsistent. On some days, it's ok and on other days, it's barely Thai food. We need the authentic Thai food that this restaurant was once famous for. This place was once known for consistently great Thai food under it's previous owners. For many years the food was the best and it continued even after the original owners passed away in a tragic accident. The chef was amazing. This food is definitely not the work of the same chef. I will update this review if their food and service improve but right now quite disappointed by this decline. We will look for a regular place to order Thai food in the meantime. read more

Where do I start. The Tom Ka soup was watery not a rich coconut as you would expect. The beef and broccoli that I ordered were slimy rubbery pieces of beef covered in a nondescript brown sauce (I didn't even know beef and broccoli was a Thai dish). Btw, I couldn't taste any Thai spices. My wife's shrimp pad Thai smelled oddly rancid, and had a very unusual taste. I absolutely cannot emphasize how horrible the food is. Not to mention that the Booth in the corner of the restaurant looked like the junk drawer in my kitchen...a staging area for all kinds of odd junk. Not what I want to look at when I'm going out for a nice dinner. When I asked for the check and the waitress saw I didn't eat my meal, she asked if everything was OK? I simply stated I didn't care for my meal. She literally said not a single word. No what's wrong? Is there anything I can do? Would you like something else? Can I take it off your bill?. Just recently returned from Thailand and I was craving some Chicken Satay and Peanut Sauce and I came across Bangkok. They had the same items I saw out in Thailand - a little more Americanized with some of the spices. The Chicken Satay was great, awesome thick peanut sauce to pair. I ordered a chicken & pineapple fried rice and spring rolls. Delicious!! The atmosphere when I arrived was quiet, dark, and peaceful. A lot of colorful decoration and cool table settings. I definitely would like to sit and dine here one day soon. read more

I am visiting the area for 2 days and I decided to order lunch! Great decision on my part! I ordered shrimp pad thai, and it's the best one I've had. It's always my go to dish at a Thai restaurant. Bangkok Restaurant did not disappoint! I enjoyed every bite:) You can't leave a Thai restaurant without ordering dessert. Came for dinner. Complimentary shrimp chips, while standard, were good. Ordered the Goong Pat Prik No My (shrimp in special sauce). Came with 10 decent size shrimp. Sauce was good and bamboo shoots were tender. It came with a non-coconut based sauce I had not had before. This is the best thai food restaurant we have been to so far in CT. It is not very authentic, as in tastes a bit different from thai food restaurants back in Bangkok, but I loved it! Each of the food we ordered, pictures attached, were great in their own way. The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night 6:30 pm, and the servers were all very good and attentive! Authentic Thai food cooked by an authentic Thai. The food is exciting, with flavored and notes seldom found. The chicken in the Tom Ka Gai is amazingly tender swimming in coconut milk flavored with fresh scallions, Lemmon grass and ginger. If you like ginger, this is your soup. The chef is s master at regulating the "heat". Mild is mild, medium is medium and spicy is spicy. Order 2 stars for a ride, 4 stars at your own risk. We were in the area and hungry and we looked on Yelp for a bite to eat. Stumbled upon this place and it was fabulous!!! We had the lunch meal. Everything was perfectly spiced and the service was quick. The service was friendly and attentive. My only suggestion would be to have more vegetarian options on the lunch menu. If longevity of the restaurant says something about it, Bangkok Restaurant (in the Stop and Shop plaza) definitely has time on it's side. According to it's website, Bangkok was the first Thai Restaurant in Connecticut, and has been open since '86. I've eaten here several times, and for the most part both the service and food have been consistently good, though occasionally the food has been ok/average. There are a wide variety of entrees to choose from, which can be seen on their website http://www.bangkokrestaurant.com/index.html. It's a casual restaurant, and it isn't uncommon to see people eating with their families, alone, or with a larger group. I've tried several appetizers there: Sa-te (average/good) Nhau Dat-Deo (good) Pak Sot (excellent) The sampler was a great mix also. Entrees: Pad See-Eyou (once excellent, the other night, average) Kai Mamuang (very good) Panang Nhua (excellent) There aren't many Thai Restaurants in the area, and Bangkok is definitely worth a try. read more

When living in CT I used to go about once a week. I still try to go when I visit! Chicken Satay is excellent, with a wonderfully thick peanut sauce (best I've had). The yellow curry, ginger chicken, cashew chicken, basil chicken, and pad thai are my favorites. Their shrimp chips are so addicting! They also have awesome home-made coconut ice cream with peanuts on top. Prices are a little high. They have a good lunch menu where you pick from a limited amount of options, but it comes with soup, a scoop of rice and 3 very teeny tiny eggrolls. You should try! Very authentic taste. read more

I ordered take-out one night when I was staying at the nearby Danbury Courtyard hotel. I really enjoyed Tom Gah Khai (coconut chicken soup) and the chicken satay - yummy peanut sauce. We went for dinner on a Sunday evening and were treated to a complimentary basket of rice chips. The vegetarian roll appetizer was great and tasted very fresh. A nice sweet and sour sauce accompanied it. The main dishes, pad thai and spicy shrimp with spring beans (the latter served with white rice), were also very nice. Friendly and quick service. As Heather mentioned, this place has been around for quite a while. I used to frequent this in high school...it was my first Thai experience. I'm still a fan and try to swing in when work brings me nearby. Pad Thai is great, so is the Pad Woonsen. On my never ending quest to find good local Thai/Chinese food I found Bangkok to be pretty darn good. I got take out but the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice - a bit dark, but nice feel without being too tacky. The fried rice I got was great. They really knew what they were doing. It wasn't burnt and the veggies were perfectly cooked. My one complaint is the price. It's not heinous, but it's also a wee bit high. Again, the food was great though. read more

The appetizer had pieces of chicken that were like dots on the stick. The memories of good food here are gone. Did not even include the chips in takeout. I've been eating at this restaurant for years and find it better than anything in NYC. The owner changed in 2017, but the food is as good as ever. The cook is actually Thai and the food is authentic. The ingredients are always fresh and the prices are very fair. The chicken and ginger is particularly delicious. In my experience, the service has always been friendly and usually quite fast. In 2017 the old owners died, so the "grumpy old man" doesn't show up any more. read more

We have been getting food there for years and have loved it. It was always our go to and the food was amazing. I know it has changed owners a couple of times but this last time we got it, it was terrible. No flavor at all, it smelled like it was bad, the ingredients were not fresh. This Thai restaurant was very, very special under its previous owners. The food was unique, much more authentic than the typical Thai menu, and consistently delicious. The new owners have done a lovely and much needed remodeling, the waitstaff are very nice, and they provide good service. However, even though the menu is the same, the recipes are most definitely NOT. Our party of 4 was disappointed in all of the entrees ordered. The previously spicy hot curry dish was bland. The Pad Thai was flavorless. The beef with coconut milk had the same dull sauce as the curry dish. I think if the new owners want to be successful, they were right to do the facelift on the decor, but should have left the food as it was. We will likely not be returning. read more
