It seems that their pandan jelly is not the same as before but it is still pretty good. It is a refreshing drink/dessert. The staff were helpful and knew their products well. They were willing to help customizing the drink (e.g. less ice, replacing syrup with condensed milk). The shop is cozy and welcoming. read more

There is very little seating, so this is more like a takeout place. There are some decorative "swings" that are good for taking photos, that can double as benches. Staff are friendly. Bambu has been my girlfriend and I's favorite bubble tea shop on East Broadway; We discovered it last year and couldn't stop coming back whenever we wanted bubble tea! Our first ever drink was mangonada, which is also our favorite drink at this place. At first, we were overwhelmed by the choices they offer. They have many house-made Vietnamese drinks you wouldn't normally see elsewhere. So we asked for the best seller, and this was truly delicious! Very mangoey slush mixed with tajin powder, along with a tamarind straw--what a crazy combo! I'm very happy that they offer to put the toppings on the side if you request it. My girlfriend doesn't like to chew pearls, so I can take a sip of the drink and take a sip of the pearls on the side. A friend and I went to Bambu together after they very kindly extended an invitation to me to come in for a tasting . We got to try Pandan Waffle, Bambu Favourite Che, Mango Dazzle Smoothie, and Taro Lover Che.  Pandan Waffle: Out of this world! The waffle was still piping hot when we ate it. Crispy on the outside and chewy like mochi on the inside. This waffle was incredible. I've never had a waffle like this before. An absolute "must try!" Bambu Favourite: No wonder it's called Bambu "Favourite". It really was my favourite! It was right up there with the Fruit Addict Che that I had ordered on a previous visit to @bambuvancouver , and which I had absolutely fallen in love with. Just like the Fruit Addict, I found that the combination of the ice with coconut milk and all the toppings made it a super tasty and refreshing dessert.  Mango Dazzle: Initially, we made the mistake of scooping from the top and eating this with our spoons, like it was ice cream. It wasn't very flavorful when we ate it that way. When we stirred it up and then drank it, the mango flavor really popped out at us and we were "dazzled" by it! Also loved the mango mochi ice cream they put on top of it.  Taro Lover: Yummy. If I wasn't already a lover of Taro, I was after I had this drink. However, we were feeling full already after having eaten Pandan waffle, Bambu Favourite, and the Mango Dazzle. Plus, taro is a starchy food so this drink was quite thick and heavy, which made it hard to stomach when we were feeling so full already. Should have maybe started with this one and ended with the lighter & more refreshing Bambu Favourite. Little gem tucked in a corner of Kingsway and Glen, you can expect a pleasant taste of Vietnam. They serve tons of options ranging from bubble tea, smoothies and their signature chè dessert drinks. As we came during the heat wave, having something cold and refreshing was a must and I heard great things about this place so I had to check them out. As they ran out of the pandan waffle we decided to go with their ube ice latte and bambu special. Unfortunately they don't have AC so we waited inside our vehicle until the drinks were made. The ube mixed with the viet coffee was a little sweeter than I would like but I would go back to try out their other flavors. Not really a big store so you would have to sit outside if you want to hang out. It's more of a grab n go place. Parking can be hard to find if there are no spots in front. My favourite drink their is their rose milk tea because it's not a flavour that i see at other locations. They have a wide variety of toppings to choose from as well which is unique to them. Only take-out currently with COVID-19 restrictions. Drinks might take a while to make as they also get a lot of delivery/take-out orders lined up, but it is worth the wait. My order: Pandan Waffles: highly recommend this! I came back several times just to pick up some waffles. The centre is very chewy (almost like mochi), with a nice crispy shell and a hint of pandan flavour (like coconut). Eat it while its hot for the best texture. Mangonada Smoothie: this is a spicy n' salty sweet drink, flavoured with chamoy sauce. Mix well. Comes with a cute mini straw coated with spices I I think (this straw does not go all the way to the bottom, so make sure you grab a straw from the counter before you leave). Ube Iced Latte: packs a strong caffeine punch (Viet iced coffee), with a smooth ube flavour. Consistency is a bit more viscous due to the ube paste in the drink. Great balance of flavours. Avo-Coffee Smoothie: super thick coffee smoothie, with an avocado aftertaste. Drink it while cold, as the avocado taste can be quite overpowering when the drink warms. Traditional Vietnamese Iced Coffee (not pictured): strong viet coffee with condensed milk. Perfect balance of bitter to sweetness. Great for caffeine addicts like myself. read more

So glad I was able to try Bambu while visiting Vancouver, did not regret! There were so many choices of che, worst case you can add or custom your own desserts. I added durian to mine since where else can you do that? Definitely it's a bit more expensive than a normal Viet desserts but its still worth it. ps. Hello my bubble tea loving friends! Grayson and I recently discovered a super awesome new place called Bambu. Bambu is unlike any other bubble tea shop out there because not only do they offer homemade toppings but they also incorporate Vietnamese influences into their menu. As a matter of fact, one of their feature menu items is Che, a traditional Vietnamese dessert. Another thing that sets this place apart are the swing chairs with durian pillows! As I have mentioned earlier, Bambu has a variety of toppings here that are unlike anything I've seen before. They have a bunch of popping pearls to choose from but they also have a lot of jellies. Grayson and I were most intrigued by the red tapioca and egg pudding. We had no idea what either of them were and when we asked about them, the lady who was taking our order gave us samples! Talk about good customer service! Anyway, the egg pudding is made with egg powder and it's similar to mango pudding in texture. The red tapioca is something unique to Bambu and it's not anything like tapioca pearls. It's red and the inside is a little crispy and crunchy. I was lucky enough to be treated to some Che from Bambu on one of the hottest days of the year so far and it was a real treat to be able to dive into a cup full of coconut and chewy goodness. I am the type of person that loves having something to chew (different textures) in my food and I really loved how many toppings they have here and lots that I never tried before! First I started with the fruit addict that had almost everything you could imagine and my favourite was easily the jackfruit. I dont eat this often but its texture is nice and springy. I also liked the pandan jelly a lot! To be honest, all of it was good but I couldn't really identify what was what! I also wanted to try making my own and went with a nix of red beans, taro, lychee, red tapioca and grass jelly with coconut milk. I love grass jelly already and since I didnt know much about the other ingredients, went with some things that I was used to and I really liked their taro! The red beans were the big ones...so next time I think i will need to specify "small red beans". Overall, I enjoyed the che quite a bit because of the different ingredients used and all the chewing involved. I had thought the red tapioca would be a favourite but surprisingly, I liked the jellies more! I definitely recommend sharing though as its quite filling! read more

What a gem! Best durian smoothie I've had outside of Vietnam. Rich in durian flavour and not too sweet. Tried the Bambu Che, as well, and although I was unsure about the murky appearance of the drink, it was light and refreshing for a hot summer day. The pandan jelly is deliciously chewy. This place has bomb authentic Asian drinks and desserts and let me share with you some of my top must tries. * #10 - bambu favourite ($7.50) ~ this is my #1 recommendation when coming here, it's so good and flavourful not to mention all the jellies and coconut milk was bomb mixed together. 10/10. * Vietnamese blended coffee with UBE icecream ~ this was so unique it was a frappe with UBE icecream and it was good. This is on the sweeter side which works well as it's also on the stronger side. I really liked this and I'd definitely get this again. 9.5/10. * UBE iced latte ~ ok this was interesting. First tried this in US, and then was super surprised to see them here. The thing with BAMBU is that they make stuff I can't really find elsewhere, so its unique in that they have this market right now. The first time I went in the US, it wasn't that impressive but it might've been the drink - not a big fan of the basil seeds. This time I got the Taro lover. but they ran out of coconut milk! How?? Bright and clean with a large wall menu. They have a variety of teas, fresh fruit smoothies, dessert drinks, and coffee to choose from. The drinks come with two free toppings, and extra ones are 50 cents each. They have some interesting ones like the pandan jelly and the red tapioca. Some of these are even house made. I went with the taro coconut fresh fruit smoothie and my friend had the #4 summer favourite drink. For a regular size, it was super filling. I had a hard time finishing my drink. My friends was more of a slush and had quite a bit going on. I enjoyed mine more just because it was a bit simpler. I really enjoyed the pandan jelly because it was tender and chewy. Overall, I enjoyed my drink and thought it was reasonably priced considering the size and compared to other bubble tea shops. I would return to try some other drinks on their menu. read more

We came by Bambu to check out their Vietnamese Che dessert drinks. We got their Fruit Addict drink and would have to say that it would probably be better served in a bowl rather than a cup. We got a straw to go to drink and it ended up being quite a disaster as most of the fruits did not fit through the straw. In the end, it was much easier using a spoon and certainly was much more enjoyable. The drink overall was alright but probably would not get again. read more

Unique Vietnamese dessert shop - they serve all the standard tea/smoothies that you'd get at most bubble tea places, but their specialty is chè, Vietnamese dessert that's almost like bubble tea on steroids, where the focus is on the toppings rather than the drink. They have lots of options for both chè and the "tamer" drinks, and you can add up to 2 toppings for free or create your own chè, so it's easy to tailor the drink to your tastes. I got the Awesome Trio (red/white/mung beans, pandan jelly, taro, and coconut milk) and added grass jelly (which in retrospect was probably a bit excessive, but I couldn't resist since theirs is house-made!). I really enjoyed it, the beans and taro had a nice texture and the coconut milk complimented the toppings well. I will say that it was pretty hard to get everything through the straw. I know it's meant to be eaten with the straw, but it would be nice if they used cups with a more easily removable lid so that you could get those last bits of topping out more easily. I also tried the pandan waffle which was quite good, the inside is chewy like a mochi waffle with a crisp outside. I do wish you could buy only half a waffle since I ended up having to save some of mine for later because the drink was so filling. I ordered for pickup, so I didn't spend a lot of time in the shop, but the person who brought me my order was very polite. I honestly think the price is pretty reasonable, since the chè is really more of a dessert or meal than a drink and the quality is very good. A friend had highly recommended Bambu after she went to one in the states. When I heard it was opening in Vancouver, I had to try it. I ordered the Bambu Favourite consisting of red tapioca, grass jelly, pandan jelly and coconut milk. The drink itself was beautifully presented and the texture was great - the toppings were delicious - but as a drink graded on its entirety, it fell flat for me. Personally, there was too much going on and too little liquid. It was a hot day and I wanted to drink it, but spent the better half chewing. What remained after the liquid was gone, was a lump of sweet sugary leftover toppings which ended up thrown away. At $6.90 the price was steep, I would have to preferred to pay less and receive a reduction toppings and more shaved liquid/ice. The store itself is nice and clean, customer services was helpful, but didn't stick out as friendly. Overall, I give it a borderline rating between a yay and nay. read more

I wanted to try their Bambu special first, to get a sense of their flavour profiles. It has coconut water vs milk, which is a lot lighter and very refreshing, even to the last sip/bite. I wasn't sure at first, but the flavours grow on you as you eat more. Their home made pandan jelly is like snake-like shapes of boba but tastes better. The basil seeds float around like the little bubbles that were popular a long time ago. The coconut is also a lot softer than fresh cut ones. I just wish they would cut it a little smaller. There was lots of longan and it provided the sweetness if you miss it. My favourite was the pandan waffle. Crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. It reminded me of mochi. A bit on the pricey side for a drink but so totally worth it. The drink I tried was the mangonada ($7.35). It's basically a drink form of the chili mango. The mango smoothie is super smooth and super tasty. It's got chili sauce drizzled around the cup and topped with delicious mango cubes. The straw that comes with it got a tamarind candy which you can leave in your drink to slowly dissolve or suck on after. They also have a rewards programs - for every 10 drinks you get 1 free. They've only asked for my number which I prefer so I don't have to carry any stamp card with me each time I visit. Will definitely be back to try more of their drinks and the pandan waffle. I loved Bambu from the first time I had it in California, and then I found out they had one in Portland and Seattle... so I was pretty stoked to find out they opened one here in Vancouver. It does have bubble teas and slushes and a pandan waffle, but all I go for is their specialty che. The #1 is my favourite and has coconut water, pandan jelly, longan, fresh young coconut, basil seed - it's super refreshing and delicious and I love the chewy texture of the pandan jelly. My second favourite would be the #6 cause I love jackfruit, but this is with coconut milk and is much heavier and filling. It is a bit on the pricey side, however it is still cheaper than the states! Was recommended by a friend, small little Vietnamese dessert place. Inside the restaurant is super cute, there's a swing set. We ordered the pandan waffle, #4 summer delight w pearls and #6 fruit addict. The pandan waffles are sooo delicious!! Chewy texture kind of like Mochi -- would recommend. One waffle was just not enough! #4 the summer delight, was yummy and filling. There's a lot of stuff inside the drink. Mung beans, tapioca, pearls, jellies, you list it. Last but not least, #6 the fruit addict. It was very sweet compared to the other drink. It also had similar ingredients inside, except this one had Logan and coconut meat. I love Bambu so much since I used to live in the bay area. However, I came here twice and had very bad experiences. Awful customer service with pricey drinks. First time, I called to place my order, everything was good till I came there waited for 20 minutes, then the cashier told me they run out of what I ordered. Second time I ordered then waited for 15 minutes, then the cashier told me the same thing as "first time". The question is "Why couldn't you tell me in advance so I wouldn't waste my time waiting and come in..." The owner should follow the "good service" trend from California. Not coming back ever.
