It's pretty loud inside the restaurant but it's definitely the perfect place to go to hang out with family and friends. Once we sat down, we ordered a few items to share. We had the shaking beef with sticky rice, the grilled chicken and grilled pork skewers, the mango sticky rice, and the che Thai was durian. The food came out pretty quickly. I have had this place bookmarked for quite some time so I was excited to finally try it. They have a very extensive menu of drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts. They also open late, which is a plus. We went around 9:30 pm on a Sunday and it was very busy. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. Service is on the slow side, since they are so busy. We tried their famous deep fried pho. The portion is very big, with lots of square crispy noodle pieces. These have to be submerged into the sauce, otherwise they are quite crunchy and hard. There is a generous portion of meat and veggie on top. I wouldn't say that it tastes like a pho at all, but more like a Chinese fried noodle dish. Therefore, taste wise, I don't know if I would get it again. We also tried their sticky rice dish, with grilled chicken and pork chop. The sticky rice was slightly crispy on top, and again the portion was decent. The meat was typical of other Vietnamese style rice dishes. This was pretty tasty, I would get this again. Unfortunately, I have to dock a couple stars for the cleanliness of this place. The entrees come with a small dish of pickles each, and we found a bug floating in ours. After alerting the waitress, she replaced it with a new one, but my bf already lost his appetite at that point. For dessert, we tried the one dish that had fresh mango in the sweet coconut soup. This was not bad, and portion is good for 2 people. I have to say, I think the prices are quite decent and the value is very good overall. Note that they take debit or cash only. I am not sure if we will be back, due to the cleanliness issue. The extensive menu does intrigue me, and they have a ton of other desserts and drinks that look interesting. We'll see. read more

We came here as the other restaurant nearby was full house at 830 pm on a weeknight and it was a 30 mins wait. We managed to get a table here and shortly after, it was full house too. Wow! Sure didn't expect both Vietnamese restaurants on the block to be so popular and full on a weeknight. At the back of the restaurant, there is a Japanese style seating with tatami platform for horigotatsu seating. Turned out this used to be a Japanese restaurant. The menu is huge here with lots of desserts. This place is not the typical pho and Banh mi Vietnamese restaurant. It has many dishes not commonly found. We ordered a variety to try. Sadly, I didn't really like the dishes much. I found the deep fried pho noodles to be too hard. The only dish I like was the shaking beef on sticky rice, but Phnom Penh version is better. It's not the best. The mixed prawn noodle soup was ok, the meat was dry for the grilled pork chop on sticky rice. All the rice dishes is with sticky rice. Not my favorite. The fruit slushes are made with real fruits so those are nice. Lots of fresh mangoes out front. We also shared the grilled flan with brown sugar Pearl. That was nice. The bigger problem which left the ick is that the waitress served the wrong dishes (swapped) to my buddy and me, even when I asked for confirmation. She just shrugged and ignored us. Honestly this was pretty unacceptable, and we didn't know it was swapped for sure as one dish arrived several minutes before the other. Guess it was ultimately still our responsibility, but how would the waitress not know which dish she was serving? So now I have to come back again to try the dish I originally wanted to try. I am amazed by the interesting dishes that I have never seen in a Vietnamese restaurant before. I must admit that the menu is huge with over 200 items and I am not familiar with a lot of the dishes. So happy to be back trying new desserts after having dinner in the area. Tried out the glutinous rice stuffed jackfruit which was a unique take on mango sticky rice. The jackfruit was super fresh and sweet but the glutinous rice was undercooked for my liking. The dessert soups had the perfect amount of sweetness and we loved all the toppings in it. The only thing that bothered us was that took away from our visit was that we ordered less desserts than the number of people and they said that they would not provide us with sharing bowls. This place is wild, by that I mean the open past midnight, have the most extensive dessert and drinks menu, AND offers a large savory dinner menu as well. Mind blown. Came to this gem of a place and wondered how the heck I didn't come in here earlier. Vibe is casual, friendly and circa early 2000s. They have a fair number of tables and a few larger ones where you have to take off your shoes to get to your seat. Warning for those wearing slip on sandals and iffy about stepping barefoot on floor /restaurant surfaces. This place gets busy and bumping at night. Plan accordingly. The menu is quite extensive and holds many "authentic Vietnamese options" whilst pricing is on the reasonable side. Tofu La Nep Tran Chau Duong Den - Pandan Tofu with Brown Sugar Pearl in Coconut Milk. - This was much greener in person than the menu picture. Not overly sweet and perfect if you are looking for a light bite after already eating dinner elsewhere. Xoi Xoai - Mango Sticky Rice - if you're a fan of mango, you will love this. Loaded with so much mango. Definitely more generous than many other eateries that serve the same dish. Please do note that this is NOT the Thai version. I personally prefer the Vietnamese version more. The rice is generally my preferred texture. Fried Squid - nicely fried, fairly large size tentacled pieces. The deep fried pho is quite good but not reminiscent of pho at all. Expect to eat fried mochi pieces with savoury sauce and you'll be happy. I thought it was yummy! Just not what I'd want if craving pho. We also got their banh cuon and it was so fresh and lovely! I did ask for no nuts on anything and my banh cuon initially came with a peanut on top for some reason. But they apologized when I pointed that out and brought me out a fresh one with truly no nuts. Just something to be mindful on if you have allergies. Absolutely love coming here for dinner since we were introduced to it over a year ago. Our goto dishes include the deep fried pho, salted egg yolk covered chicken pieces and their tumeric sticky rice is soooo good. I also enjoy the red noodle soup. This is one of the places that will make Kingsway little Saigon. It is a Vietnamese style dessert place, and the amount of delicious sweets they have is just worth the hype!! It used to be the Japanese restaurant, as I remembered and now it is just filled with coconut milk and tons of sweets!! I love how they have SO MANY OPTIONS of desserts, but at the same time they have something called the "seasonal only" type of thing. Anyways, this place is so bright, and the overhead lighting is just not flattering. On top of that, it shows all their faults and their stickiness of the floor. So that is really their choice. With their huge selection of desserts, they don't have a shortage of how much desserts they can serve, and the best this is they have A LOT of durian options which I was extremely happy to hear! On top of that, the amount of coconut milk option dishes was just amazing. Tina Cake Desserts took over what used to be Banh Mi Yeh Linh (which was very short lived). They specialize in Vietnamese desserts and the owners are from North Vietnam. We've been several times. Service is friendly and the desserts come out quickly. Every time we go, the menu seems to expand. If you're lost, they have a most popular list behind the counter. - Su kem ($1.50) - the filling tasted subtly of cream cheese. Light and homemade but the texture of the cream puff needs work. - Che buoi ($5.00) - the pomelo pieces themselves weren't sweet and consisted of some sort of rice/mung bean mixture, all over thickened coconut milk. The dessert is sweet; don't think we'd be able to eat this solo. - Che nep cam dac biet ($8.00) - the black sticky rice was excellent and had a great chewy texture. Everything in this dessert worked well together. I'd get this again. - Mango avocado ($6.00) - one of their fresh fruit slush options. You can see them cutting up fresh avocado and mangoes. Not too sweet; a bit more mango comes through than avo. - Che dau xanh xoi ($7.00) - not sure where the "soup" comes into play here. Green sticky rice (we're guessing it's infused with pandan extract), mung bean paste, coconut milk and fresh coconut flakes. Sticky rice has a good glutinous bite to it but is a tad dry on it's own. Really liked the freshly grated coconut flakes on top. It's heavy so share. - Avocado ($6.00) - decided to try just avocado this time around. - Che khuc bach ($6.00) - three types of panna cotta; vanilla, chocolate (reminded us of neapolitan chocolate flavour) and matcha (best of the three). - Thach la nep nhan flan ($5.50) - flan was delicious. Not too sweet but sitting in coconut milk. Pandan jelly was thick and the flavour is subtle (as pandan usually is). Worth a try. - Tofu thach rau cau cot dua ($7.00) - J added brown sugar pearl ($0.50 extra). Had a bite; tofu pudding was a touch plain but had a mix of textures from all the jellies. - Pudding thap cam ($9.00) - pudding is subtle in flavour but we detected some vanilla notes. Interesting that they shaped it into a corn on the cob. Probably won't get this again but it was worth a try. - Che khoai mon ($6.50) - this came out piping hot. You get three plump mochi balls filled with real taro. Every time we visit, we try something new. Haven't found this offered anywhere else in the city. Will continue to come back to TCD for more speciality Vietnamese desserts. read more

I'm happy to find this place and thank you Yelp! and the cafe owner for giving me generous gift! I visited to have some tapioca dessert but when checked in, Yelp! shows free dessert. I feel guilty because it might sound like the purpose I came here for free food. This is not! But as it was the first time to use those advantage, I decided to try and learn how it works.
