What's not to love?! I can't believe I'd never been here before. The portions were huge, everything was tasty and was so fresh. The spicy ramen with crispy chicken was perfect flavors and textures. Big portion of edamame as well, and the fresh rolls were delicious. Really great value, very affordable and large portions. The service was excellent, friendly and efficient. And it's such a cute and vibey spot.

Visited Ban Hua Sai early on a rainy Friday evening. Service was very friendly and fast! It was not very busy inside, but it seemed like a lot of people were ordering to-go! We had the Thai iced tea, crab wontons, panang curry with pork and crispy garlic chicken. All of it was delicious, but our favorites were the Thai tea and curry. It's definitely a nice neighborhood spot, can't wait to go back!

I am a huge fan of Southern Thai cuisine and this restaurant's dishes are absolutely delicious! Very flavorful and spicy. I highly recommend trying their "Spicy Basil Bison", "Boat Noodles with Beef", "Roti Gang", and of course "Crispy Garlic Chicken". Very welcoming and friendly service! The interior is clean, chill, and not noisy...perfect for dining. Highly recommend!

Small neighborhood Thai place that is my favorite in the Maple Leaf area. After a few visits, I can say that all of the dishes so far have been solid - flavors and seasonings are well-balanced, and the food looks and tastes very fresh. The crispy dumpling rolls are an interesting item - loved the chewiness from the wrapper and they were more substantial than the usual spring rolls. Both the pad see ew and Pad kee mao were well prepared and not burnt. The panang curry is our fave as the curry is rich yet not as heavy as some other places - some additional veggies help. Service is friendly and the prices are quite reasonable in a day where pad thai at many places can cost $20.

Been craving some aromatic Thai food on a rainy Monday night and wanted to check out Ban Hua Sai. Although the food had some delicious flavor, it still was a bit lackluster for our liking. My wife and I came in on a Monday night and it was pretty quiet inside. Got a table immediately, and I ordered: Chicken Pad Thai (a staple for me, sorry for being so "basic") Basil Fried Rice When the dishes arrived, my first thought was - that's it? The fried rice looked paltry and small, with small pieces of tofu scattered around. My wife doesn't each a lot, but she finished this dish in record time - and was still hungry afterwards. My chicken Pad Thai had great flavor and was your classic Pad Thai, so it scratched my urge and satiated my craving. But similar to the fried rice, it was definitely on the smaller end. And the noodles were so congealed too and stuck to each other - not a fan of that. Finally, there were very little nuts and I had no lime to squeeze, so it lacked that tangy acidity. Overall, decent spot. Service was fine, and the food tasted good. But we left still hungry and the portions were small. There's other Thai places in the nearby neighborhoods of Roosevelt and Wallingford, and we will be taking our business there.

The bun was incredibly fresh, light, and pillowy, while the pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender with the perfect balance of richness and tang from the kimchi. The pickled vegetables added a bright crunch that tasted incredibly fresh. We started with the salmon tartare, and it was phenomenal! Rich, buttery, bursting with flavor, and so good we were literally fighting over the last bite. And the scallop? Order one for each person. Seriously. It's far too delicious to share. It had just the right amount of heat, leaving the perfect lingering warmth that immediately made us want another. Do yourself a favor and give yourself enough time to work your way through the menu, because every dish we tried was outstanding. Each plate was thoughtfully curated, beautifully executed, and cooked to perfection. I like to call it the C³ trifecta: curated, created, and cooked. Without question, this is some of the best food we've had in a very long time. We can't wait to come back (when visiting) and continue eating our way through the rest of the menu.

The combination is exactly what we wanted -- you get the tender, juicy texture of the poached chicken alongside the crispy, golden coating of the fried chicken. I especially liked having the different sauces to switch up the flavors, and the broth was a nice addition to the meal. The portion was generous and the whole plate felt like a very complete, comforting meal. This was my mom's first time trying Malaysian food, and she was definitely impressed. The food also looks as good as it tastes -- the combo plate is definitely worth photographing before you dig in! Pretty simple menu of their specialties, and some beverages. For the chicken rice, you can get classic, crispy or combo (half and half). I got the combo chicken rice. Portion was okay, although I feel like you get a slightly more chicken if you just order classic or crispy. The classic chicken tastes authentic, has the smooth slippery skin, but does need the dipping sauce or some of the ginger scallion oil for taste. The crispy chicken is okay, nothing that special about it. The rice was a little less flavorful than expected. The set also came with pickled vegetables, a salad, and some soup. Was served in reasonable time. The combo plate was $21. For Seattle area it's not expensive, but food in the area is just expensive in general. Maybe Hainanese chicken rice isn't my favorite thing, but it was just okay for me.

Updated review from 2 Months ago…read more.. I've been back roughly 6 times from my previous review of Kona Kitchen. Then it was too many staff, not many customers and it was difficult to get service, that has been improved upon. They are nice and attentive when they see you. Service was normal, the wait staff came around and offered more beverage. This time it was still slow period, so what gives it only 3 stars instead of more? It's the fact that the main door the employee use to go into the kitchen to give their orders to the cooks had cob webs on the top of the door.i mean everyone of them walk through that door hundreds of times throughout the week because I could tell it's been there for some time. Where's the food inspector, should be a concern because if it's there in full view of customers and employees, what else is happening as far as cleanliness at Kona Kitchen. I will be there within two or three days and wonder if the cobweb will still be a fixture there... it's something that is annoying because nobody's done anything about it. Amazing.
