We came to Marlai at about 6 PM on Friday night. We each got some Singha beer and enjoyed their coconut shrimp, Mongolian Beef and Lemongrass Chicken with a side of white rice. These dishes all complemented one another very well :) the Mongolian beef is a classic, and I love the flavors of the lemon grass chicken because no bite is the same, but each is just as pleasant and lovely as the last. Marlai has been one of our go to spots for years, because we love their outstanding flavors and service. They have been consistently good over the years. They are a great place to eat good food and decompress.

Potsticker dinner is the most pathetic thing ever. 7 tiny potstickers for $17!

Ordered the potsticker dinner and this what I got. 7 tiny potstickers for $17! The food was ok but I won't be going back.

I feel robbed. Spent over 100 bucks on pick up lunch yesterday and still feel upset about how disappointing and gross the food was. Not really sure what happened to this place because I had a coworker order from here for a birthday lunch a few years back and it was pretty good. Yesterday's pick up was inedible. -The noodles in both our noodle dishes were completely flavorless and so overcooked it was almost complete mush. -The red curry was average but barely seasoned and a bit watery. -The "spicy" chicken fried rice was anything but spicy and had zero flavor and a weird sour odor - I took one bite and spit it out. It was so foul I wonder if they gave us something spoiled from the day before. -the eggplant was also mushy and had zero flavor. All around the food was flavorless and overcooked and tasted old. Worse than the worst cafeteria food. Not worth a single cent and what a waste and a disgrace to food in general.

We ate here and sampled a few of their entrees. Parking is available in a small lot across the restaurant. Tofu soup with mushroom , spinach, and clear noodles was a little too salty with fish sauce or soy sauce. Not recommended. Chicken wings 5pcs was hot off the fryer with sweet chili sauce and carrot parsley garnish. It was hot but not flavorful. Pork Gra Pow had too much fish sauce for seasoning, no chili, only bell pepper. Ground chicken salad has a lime flavor with fish sauce, no chili, nice lettuce, kafir leaf, lemon grass slice. This was the best tasting of entrees we ordered. Pad Thai chicken had overcooked rice noodles, too much sugar for my taste, and unlike other pad Thai I have eaten. Decor looked okay and clean. Service is a little slow as it looked like takeaway is what keeps them going. Service for takeout moving briskly. No real ambiance in eating in, I think we will order take out next time. Overall, 3 stars out of 5.

Marlai has always been a staple in my husband's family when it comes to Thai food. Marlai gave me my Thai training wheels. The first time I tried Thai food was about a year ago, and was Pad Thai from Marlai. Previously I would just order their Chicken Satay, and rice. (Boring I know!) Their chicken satay is really good though. You get good sized skewers with your order. I have since ventured to other things, BETTER things! Yellow curry being my favorite go-to! The yellow curry here by itself is ok. However, when sauced over the Pad Thai, it is much better. Perhaps if my in-laws were adventurous with spiciness, I might enjoy it more. The yellow curry has giant potatoes, chicken and a tomato (which was a weird addition, and one I've never seen with yellow curry). I love yellow curry, but have had much better (despite being spicy or not) at other Thai restaurants. Marlai's yellow curry is pretty bland to be honest. Which is why it's better over the Pad Thai, it gives some blended flavors which makes the dish! Although we normally do take out, I have eaten inside on a few occasions. The "dining-in" service is a little on the slow side; but all the people are really nice. Although Marlai is not my favorite Thai spot, it does the trick and feels my Thai needs.

Service is friendly and fast, food is average. Curries don't come with rice which I always find a little confusing. Ordered online and was ready to pick up in about 15 minutes.

I just left Dr. Hohl's office across the street and craving... idk, something! lalala - "Ohh, thai." First off, I forgot what i ordered but it DID have spinach and peanut sauce---which, in my books, practically makes ANYTHING taste better (if it wasn't already good enough). =D I had take-out while I waited for my bus back to work. The place is pretty nice and rather foo-foo; even squatting tables... Nice. They had you wait at the bar table in back facing the cool open air kitchen and provided glass of water while waiting. Idk, just felt weird being told to wait somewhere. Interesting to note that you don't have many places with an open air kitchen. Still rather ok atmo.

The pad see ew had thick, chewy noodles with a great balance of vegetables and meat, making it both filling and satisfying. The standout, though, was the pork belly with green beans. It was absolutely incredible. We ordered it at spice level 3, and it definitely brought the heat. I was sweating by the end of the meal! From the outside, we noticed the restaurant takes up a good amount of space in the building. Once we arrived, there were several people waiting to be seated. We added our name and number to the list. It was about a 10-to-12-minute wait for our party of 2. Throughout the restaurant, the lighting is dim and suited for night life. Once we were seated, we were given the menus. We ordered the Grilled Calamari, Uncle Odds Flank Red Curry Wild Betel Leave with Sticky Rice, Battered Chicken Red Curry, and Durian Tiramisu. The food came out at a respectable amount of time. The Grilled Calamari was an enticing appetizer off the menu based off how big it was. However, we were a bit disappointed once it arrived at the table. It was much smaller. It was still good regardless. Once our main entrees arrived, we were also a bit surprised by the lack of vegetables there were in the curry. Even though the menu states exactly what was in each of the curry dishes, we were still just shocked and questioning why that was. We both enjoyed the curries anyways. I wouldn't order the Battered Chicken Red Curry again only because the batter of the chicken was getting soaked the longer it sat in the curry and became a bit mushy. The texture was throwing me off. It was very filling as there were lots of chicken compared to the other curry we had which was a much smaller portion of protein. Lastly, the Durian Tiramisu was amazing! Definitely the star of the show for us. If you don't like durian, it won't be for you. For the durian lovers, this is a must have!

The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and we were looking forward to the bold flavors we've come to love. The visit started off a bit oddly. The front desk server, Tar, asked to see my wife's ID--even though she's 36 years old and we weren't seated in the bar area. It felt inconsistent, especially since younger guests nearby weren't asked, and it's something we've never experienced at their other locations. Unfortunately, moments like that made us feel singled out, and honestly it sometimes feels like they tend to pick on Asians, whether intentional or not. That feeling alone made the experience uncomfortable and will likely make this our last visit to this location. That said, the table service was excellent. Moo took great care of us, and Cece from the bar was attentive and kept our water filled throughout the meal. Unfortunately, there were a few moments that took away from the experience. While I was taking photos of our dishes, a young staff member alongside Tar appeared to be giggling and mocking me, which made things uncomfortable. It may not have been intentional, but it didn't feel professional and only added to the awkward atmosphere we already felt. Food-wise, there were some inconsistencies. The chicken didn't taste as good as we remember, and several plates had visible fingerprints, which was off-putting. The galvanized metal plates also gave off a slightly unrefined feel--more like cafeteria-style serving ware. Additionally, the sticky rice, which is usually presented in a traditional bamboo basket, was served in a Ziploc bag, which felt like a downgrade in presentation. On a positive note, the papaya salad and pad Thai were still very good and delivered the flavors we expect. We'll continue supporting Isarn, but we'll likely return to the Kirkland or Lynnwood locations next time. Sadly, after this experience, this Queen Anne visit will probably be our last.
