Chose this place being in the neighborhood and saw it had good reviews and I love Thai food. Its a cute spot! Unfortunately the appetizers weren't that great. We got the platter of mixed apps to share. But my entree was quite good. I had the shimp pad see ew. Nice and flavorful and filling. My friends had very good entrees too. The staff were friendly and helpful. They also have a nice selection of beer and wines to drink. Service was pretty good, waitress was helpful and relayed the right amount of spice called for on my Drunken noodle and friends approved too. I got a Red Hook IPA to go with my meal and they brought it out along with a frozen beer glass for extra chill. That's cool (literally). The stumble comes from the appetizers. The Laem Buri platter - gyōza, spring rolls and tofu were hard and burnt looking. What happened? They weren't enjoyable. The Thai wings were also a letdown considering I've had Thai wings that span from good to great, these were not close to either. Presentation was decent but that's it. They recovred with the entrée. Ordered take out on a cold day for some hot soup & hot dishes. The lady who answered the phone was very friendly and made sure to repeat back the whole order with our spice level choices, to make sure everything was correct, and asked for our phone number & name before hanging up. To me this shows they value accuracy in the ordering system, which is important to the customer when it comes to ordering things to go. Tom Kha soup (hot spice level)- Delicious! However, a bit too sweet and could've been more sour. I also wish they used straw mushrooms but it's hard to find places that do that. Despite all that, ugh it was a wonderful, creamy, spicy soup on a cold gray day to clear the sinuses just enough and warm mah belleh! Pad Woon Sen (medium spice level)- I'd never had this before and it was a pleasant surprise. It looked simple. Very thin glass noodles with a ton of freshly cooked, vibrant vegetables, & beef. As I ate it, it just kept getting better and better. It's a perfect balance of meaty, veggie goodness, with maybe a soy sauce type of base? Usually I like strong, bold flavors, but the simplicity of this dish won me over! I only wish the portion was bigger. Jungle noodles (spicy spice level)- Woo-wee, now that is some spice! Great for those who can handle it (once upon a time I was one of these people), but a bit too much for my aging gut nowadays. If I think beyond the level 4 spice that I will not do again, the flavor of these noodles was pleasant and I really liked the chewy texture. I'd order this again at a level 2 or 3. A night out in the Greenwood area meant somewhere for dinner and Thai is always a good option. There is some street parking in the area if you're lucky but if not there is some private lot parking as well. The inside is not big but is pretty cozy and intimate. GREEN BEAN ($10) - There was a good crunch on the green beans and it was garlicky. I really liked the sauce/glaze on it and this was one of my favorite dishes. 5/5 PAD THAI ($12) - I thought this was just okay. It's slightly too sweet which is not the flavor profile I want in my pad thai but it was saucy and not dry. 3/5 PANANG CURRY ($12) - I really liked this dish and I caught myself going for seconds and thirds for the curry, way more often than some of the other dishes. Note that it doesn't come with rice so you'll have to order that separately. 5/5 FAMOUS CHICKEN ($14) - When one of the dishes is named famous chicken and it's a best seller, we had to order it. It was nice and crispy and was pretty good. 4/5 FIERY CRISPY DUCK ($18) - It was very crispy and I liked the added basil on top. The sauce that came with it was delicious as well. 4.5/5 TOM YUM SOUP ($12) - This was soup-er flavorful (pun intended) and was very refreshing given all the other heavier dishes we ordered. 4.5/5 KUA GAI NOODLE ($15) - I thought this was an okay dish and it was nice to get some seafood for variation. 3/5 For most of the food we ordered level 3 spice but it didn't taste very spicy at all. I'm not sure what happened, Laem Buri has been a go to Thai spot in Seattle for me and my family since we moved to Seattle years ago. I've noticed a continuous decline in quality since the pandemic. Tonight we ordered out and I just was so disappointed. The curry is now half the portion in size it used to be, quality of food seemed lower than it used to, and everything was just very bland other than chili spice and not as flavorful as it used to be. It's really disappointing to see a local favorite slip. I've been hoping it was just a lull in quality but it appears to be an unending spiral. read more

How I heard of this place: Back in 2018, we started a bi-weekly practice of having family dinners at Laem Buri with friends who "adopted" us as their children/grandchildren. They brought a meal over to our house, originally, from Laem Buri. From that moment on, we were hooked. Ambiance: Modern and sleek, comfortable and cozy, the restaurant, found inside a stretch of Greenwood Avenue strip mall-like shops and restaurants, is certainly worth a visit. Or two. Heck, ten! Owned by a husband, who's name graces the establishment, and his wife, they have striven to give the neighborhood eatery a place to eat well, in a setting that is cozy, warm and intimate, while still catering to the plethora hipsters roaming about. What I ordered: Having come and gone every second week (or at least once per month) for over a year in 2018 and 2019, prior to the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic, we had ample opportunity to sample most of the menu. Among our favorite dishes, are the fried rice (any of them), Pad Woonsen, Pad Kee Mao, and the spicy Pad See Eiw. We love their seasonal Mango Sticky Rice, coconut ice cream, and thoroughly enjoyed the sauteed green beans appetizer. What I loved: Most anything we have ordered has been wonderfully superb. We enjoy a little spice to a lot of spice, and are able to obtain a variety of taste preferences to satisfy everyone in our party - from the littlest to the eldest (3 years old to 73 years old)! Pad Woonsen tends to remain a top favorite, as does the Basil Fried Rice. Their Tom Kha soup is also a savory hit in the colder months (if not always). Why I loved it: The staff are friendly and warm, the owners - as much family as hosts - are wonderfully sweet, warm, friendly and so lovely. Im curious if there has been a change in ownership or something? We love their food and have been eating here and getting takeout for years. We went to order take out and none of our regular dishes are on the online menu anymore...hot summer, garlic chicken...so we odered other dishes, not a big deal as their food has always been delicious. Got an assortment of standard noodle dishes and i dont know if they forgot to put sauce on them but they were all bland/ no flavor and mushy, no texture. I hope this was just a bad day! I must have eaten here a dozen times already! I'm surprised that I haven't written them a glowing review already. I think I've tried every single one of their curries and a few of the rice noodle dishes. I also had one of their specials once, it was duck. everything I've ever eaten here has been so delicious and that's why I keep coming back. I've brought my family here and recommended to friends all the time. The next time I go I'll have to add some photos of my food. They are probably so far back in my camera roll I don't want to dig them out right now but I guarantee that you will have a great experience here, and if you don't, the staff is so nice and friendly that I'm sure that they would remedy any issue you have. Great food, great service! My friend and I came in on a Tuesday night for dinner. There were some people dining in, but a lot of people came through for pick up/take out. I got the pad Thai and fried rice. This place was overly spicy even at a spice level 2. Although it lacked any other flavor or salt. Generally bland. The meat was gray and sad. the vegetables were cut in really large unappetizing pieces and were not tender. Overall it was just bad food. Probably the worst Thai I've ever had. read more

4.5 Thai good restaurants are usually tough to mess up. Generally a Thai restaurant will be at least decent and you have nothing to really complain about. Then there the over the top so good you're raving to your friends about it. Lawn Buri to me feels in between these this range. It's better than your average Thai restaurant and what puts it over the top for me is the crispy duck and famous chicken. Every dish that you would normally order at a Thai restaurant was straight solid exactly what it should taste like. The crispy duck and famous chicken was just so flavorful and good, I wanted to keep the whole plate for myself even though I was sharing family style. Everything we ordered was pretty good. I was planning to give it 4 stars until I asked the waitress to plate my mango sticky rice LIKE THE ONE ON THEIR YELP that was posted by the owner. The waitress's first reaction was a very disturbed face and said "oh..... I don't think we can do that" then I said "but this is from your yelp page." She said "I know, but........I'll ask if the chef will make it for you." She came back with the sticky rice and said "sorry the chef said no." That was definitely 1 Star less than what I was originally going to give them. The servers were all semi attentive and checked on a once. We ordered the calamari (below average), chicken with the secret sauce (delicious), beef salad (average), papaya salad (very average) and the duck curry (very good). I think the duck and chicken dishes were my fave. The duck curry was made with roasted duck and the profile of the curry went very well with the meat. The chicken was delicious and I like that it was very lightly battered if at all but still maintained a crispy texture. Dinner was great, it just didn't end on a good note. I absolutely hate dishes that come out looking nothing like the pictures. It ruined everything for me. And the chef was very rude for saying no to a customer. We had one of the worst customer service experiences ever at Laem Buri. We have been loyal patrons since they opened. We ordered dinner at 6pm and they said it would be ready at 6:30, we arrived at 635 and they told us it would be ready in 15 minutes. When we returned 20 minutes later. They "claimed" it had been picked up by someone saying they were us. It was so clear they had not made the order and were lying. They then said they could not go reimburse us until the following day. When I got agitated they then reimbursed us in 2 minutes. They lied, were rude and took no responsibility. We will never go back and also note they have consistently had an "ok" on their food cleanliness. read more

Laem Buri's Avocado Curry alone deserves a 5 star rating! Seriously, I am not sure why it took this long for this dish to be introduced in my life. Generous chunks of avocado, peppers, eggplant, and your choice of protein (beef for me!) bathe in a delicious green curry sauce. Pair this with a side of steamed white rice and you have a nice comforting meal. I can barely finish this all to myself so I order it after an intense workout. Personally, if you're trying to find a good deal, eat here during their lunch hour. They offer a couple of combo meals where you can get an entree, an soup and (for extra cost) a side of tofu pad thai for about $10. I have ordered this twice, first time with beef chow fun and most recently with garlic beef. The portions are just right, although I am not a huge fan of the pad thai so far. I'm happy this place took over Pad Thai because I sorely was missing the convenience of a Thai restaurant close to home for my lazy days. TLDR: try the Calamari. First off, if you call the phone number if will just keep ringing. No one will pick up and you can't leave a message. Dining area is a bit small but spaced out nicely so it's not too cramped. Parking is street side--good luck. Menu is a bit disappointing but does deliver all the info you need to order. Service: staff is super friendly and will let you split checks multiple ways! Wait to be seated, order, check will be brought to you. Garlic Pepper Calamari: uhh not sure what happened but there was no garlic or pepper on the Calamari. There was however a small bowl of sweet and sour dipping sauce to go along with it. The Calamari itself was cooked to perfection--crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Not chewy at all! Kee Mao: flavors well balanced and not overly sweet or salty. As an usual, i got the togo food from Laem Buri today. When I come in, it's always really busy, but they are really nice and happy to serve customer. I got the sticky rice with mango while I wait for my food. That was awesome and beautiful decoration. My to go order was green bean, calamari pad thai, basil fried rice, prikkhing wok and green curry. The food was really hot, fresh and well cooked. Also, I highly recommend the famous chicken which is in the special menu, it's really tasty. They can meet all the customer's requirements even gluten free and vegan option. Had we not ordered 3 dishes, my fiancé would have had to make more food. The See eiw was not great, sauce was over salted and very meh. And the Thai fried rice was below average. Laem was recommended by a local and we def loved every plate. My friends got thai milk tea that had a sparkling water kick to it which I've never tried before. I got fresh coconut which I think is freshest at quality thai restaurants and this was one of those. Coconut was prepared clean, fresh, and cold with sweet coconut water & flesh. As for the main dishes, we ordered the yellow curry (4/5), Panang curry (4/5), duck curry (5/5), pad thai (5/5), pineapple fried rice (5/5), and the yummy & extra-spicy som tum (6/5). The wide noodles dish ($12) was fine but nothing special compared to other Thai restaurants I've tried (especially compared to those in Thailand). The quantity is not so generous unless (1) you're a matron looking to lose some fat or (2) you're terribly hungry. On a 82 degree weather day, it would be nice to have AC.
