Excellent dentist. Dr Ban is very good at what he does, honest, and definitely care about his patients. Highly recommend. The staff is friendly and there's plenty of reminders to make sure appointments are confirmed. Over the years I've only had an single minor issue with with a hygienist, but I would expect that no matter where you go. If I could give this man and his staff 6, 7, 8, 100 stars, I would. I had a dentist phobia my entire life, from when I was very small watching my best friend who happened to be my mom go through absolute hell and agony then stressing over the ensuing bills and this went on and on. I got a taste of the same in my teens and would fall apart [Dentophobia] if a dentist office visit had to be arranged but wanting no part of seeing a dentist. When I turned 62, it took 9 extractions, 3 oral surgeries, 3 crowns, multiple drillings and fillings over the course of almost 4 years just to get my teeth healthy again. I had 4 or 5 molars that had to be dug out being broken off at the gum line or just rotten. I looked into & almost went to Mexico even with their quote of $16,000 to fix my teeth. Must've done something right to have had the good fortune to meet Dr Ban. His knowledge and skills are vast, he knows what to do without causing pain and he does this for everyone 6 days a week, week by week, month by month, year by year... every day, all day long from his quaint, lovely, professional office on Riverside Drive in Toluca Lake. He says please and thank you to his dental assistants and makes you feel like you are his only concern, the only patient he's ever had. If - as it can happen, you are in pain after your procedure, it ruins his day and you will for sure get another shot of Novocain. Dr Ban won't leave you until your pain goes down. You can see it in his face. All you can believe is that Dr Ban knows the pain, like he has it too, he just knows. I am forever grateful I no longer have a nervous breakdown when a dentist appointment is necessary. All I feel is safe, that I am in the very best care I could ever hope to have and chances are I will leave this office feeling pretty good and won't take the pain home with me. I thank all of you at Dr Ban's office for caring about me, helping and advising me, and just being there through all the time, the COVID, the surgeries, the healing, more surgeries, all of it... I have a very real fear of dentists. It's a huge mental hurdle for me to clear when I go to one. A year and a half ago, I was struck in the mouth by a hockey puck during a game which cracked multiple teeth, but the combination of no pain & my previous mentioned fear made it okay in my mind to keep putting treatment off. Well, 2 teeth broke off within a week of one another and I needed a dentist. I was referred to Dr Ban by a friend of mine, and I could not be happier with the service & results. I informed Dr. Ban of my dental phobia, and he was very understanding. The treatments were efficient, his staff went out of their way to make the procedures tolerable and as pain free as possible. When I was 19 I had a terrible experience at the dentist. So bad, I avoided the dentist for the longest time. (Yes, years) When I finally went back, the dentists I tried did not do much to change my opinion of dental visits. Until I found Dr. Ban and his staff. Ok!! so, i've been holding my hands, waiting to see how my experience would pan out. i now will tell you how HORRIBLE this dentist office is... this experience started in December of 2015, and is still haunting me. i went to Dr. Ban on a referral from a friend. i have insurance, and when i called them, the office staff told me they take my insurance company. i had a couple of cleanings within the first year. then, one of my fillings was discovered to be bad. needed a crown. so, the office lady gets online, looks up my account with my insurance company, and gives me a quote. while im standing right in front of her. she prints out the quote, and circles how much my payment will be, including my deductible. then, they had me do something i've never heard of before, or since. they had me sign that "Treatment Plan". when i left, i thought to myself, "why would they have me sign this paper?" i figured it was to cover themselves, in case a client came back, and said, "you didnt quote me this price!!" so, i agreed, and had the crown replaced. at the time of the procedure, i went to pay, and the lady said, "its actually a little more than i quoted you." it was only $8.60 more, so i paid it, and went on with life. total was right at $290 (with insurance, still a high amount) about a month and a half later, i get a bill in the mail, from Dr. Ban's office. the bill stated that i owed them $257.00. i looked in my file, and found the receipt, and i called them. i explained that this was wrong. i paid not only $257, but $290! they told me that they had made a mistake in billing, and i actually owed the extra $257!!! can you imagine?!! i dont have that kind of money!! the $290 was stretching my wallet! i reminded them about the document they had me sign, which had everything outlined as to the costs, and what insurance covered, and what my responsibility would be. i also told them that i've NEVER HEARD of ANY company providing a service, and then calling you months later, to ask you to pay almost the same amount again!! we went back and forth for a couple weeks, and finally, i told them that i wasnt paying for it. i have a document printed by their staff, outlining the costs of the procedure. THEY HAD ME SIGN THAT DOCUMENT. so, for the next 3 years, about every few months, they send a bill. they even said that they would "discount" what i "owed" them, to like $190.00. i refused. i will never pay them. so now, its December of 2018. 3 years later. yesterday, i get a call from a collection agency. regarding this bill. i scanned, and emailed the document, outlining the costs of the procedure, to the collection agency. i will fight this to the end. collection agencies pay pennies on the dollar for "outstanding debts". whatever they paid Dr. Ban, was too much. i paid what i was told i needed to pay, from the original quote. that's the end. i was talking with my girlfriend this am, about this situation, and the audacity of Dr. Ban, to think that you can bill someone almost twice what you quoted them, because of an error on the part of his staff. she suggested i write a yelp review. when i got on here, i read a review, that is almost verbatim what i just outlined here, from just a few months ago!! and, another from around the time this was happening to me!! and yet another, from 2012!! all of these reviews say what i've said here. apparently, this is Dr. Ban's M.O. its not "an older system", or whatever they will tell you. its poor office management. its misleading. its terrible business. its been going on, and still goes on... DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST. read more

I had an all around amazing experience, with not only Dr. Nick, but also with his entire staff. These guys are a rip off! Way over priced for the level of service. I have one of the best insurance policies you can have. Told them I needed the work to be covered by the policy (plus co-pay). Way after all the work was done, they sent me a HUGE bill. Their rates are about DOUBLE what any sane insurance policy would pay for a procedure. But at no time did they inform me that I would have to pay anything in excess of what my insurance deemed a reasonable rate. After all this, I wrote them a letter expressing my disappointment, while still agreeing to pay it. Then they sent me ANOTHER bill. What a nightmare! Eventually they sent my bill to collections and now I have a nasty mark on my credit. BEWARE! read more
