First off the parking situation is very easy! There is plenty of street parking. There's a designated lot for the Bishop Shopping Center. And if for some reason that fails it's across the street from Home Depot which has a huge lot. My partner recommended Banana Leaf had the perfect amount of customers around lunch time. It wasn't empty. But it wasn't so full to the point there was a long wait We came here on two occasions. The Thai Tea pancakes are not considered breakfast. They can be ordered any day/time. They have a separate breakfast menu for weekends. There was some minor confusion about that. The first visit we ordered the beef noodle soup. The portions are very generous! You get your choice of noodles. We also had the mango sticky rice and the roti ice cream. The beef noodle soup was very filling. It had a slightly sweet note. As you can see there's lots of veggies and beef! Be warned for those with the cursed soapy gene, that there is some cilantro. The second occasion I got the Thai tea pancakes! Presentation is beautiful! The antennae is uncooked pasta lol. The pancakes came out much earlier than the fried chicken Benedict (not pictured). Again the portions are pretty large! You'll likely be very full after one entree. I did get the taste of Thai tea when dipping in the sauce. The fruit seems to change seasonally because I saw previous photo had a slice of dragonfruit. Wanted to try the satay Benedict but the fried chicken Benedict had a yellow curry hollandaise which I never heard of before so I had to give it a shot. What a fun Thai brunch experience, conveniently close to home! A totally instagrammable experience, Banana Leaf delivered in terms of checking all the boxes. Because this spot is turning heads, we called ahead to see what the wait time would be for a party of 2x and went close to opening hours on Saturday around 9:30-10ish. Make sure to peep their hours because they do have separate daytime and evening hours. Super cute and cozy indoor space, we had the lemon ricotta pancakes, fusion chicken satay (chicken satay with egg, peanut sauce, taters, cucumber salad, sautéed onions), the Gra Pow Gai Kai Dao (ground chicken with veggies in a Thai basil sauce over jasmine rice topped with an egg), and Thai Iced Teas. Everything was honestly delicious and a nice change to the typical cereal and milk pajamas at-home combo. Pancakes not too sweet, just right. The chicken satay breakfast plate, a fun upgrade to getting as an appetizer, and the Gra Pow Gai Kai Dao..reminiscent of our honeymoon in Thailand. Great flavor! Finally got to try this place out for dinner! The inside is so nicely decorated, and the ambiance is light and warm. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Service was also fast. The food was pretty good, i would say that the portions for the pricing were a little unbalanced, but not too far off from pricing at most places these days :') The sweet chicken tacos were tasty, but it's not really shareable since it's just two tacos. The mountain beef was good but not much curry. The meat however, was pretty tender and tasty. Overall, this place is really great for a quick meal or just a place to eat and chill. The fun and interesting breakfast menu was the attraction to this place. I had been here for dinner, but had not been back since they expanded to serving breakfast. We had a very sweet waitress that was attentive and helpful in answering questions. We had the mini-chicken and waffle, and the BL Omelette, which had all kinds of veggies, bacon bits and cheese along with their roasted potatoes and salad. I have to say the plating here is an art form, worthy of a visit on it's own. The waffle looked a bit overdone, but it tasted like maple cake! We ordered the Thai tea French toast, loco moto, bacon Benedict, and Kaeng Karee. All of the food was delicious! We were pleasantly surprised with each dish. As a result, the chicken tasted a bit under-seasoned on its own. The pad thai itself was pretty average, with the noodles tasting a bit more mushy than I would like. Though there was a tiny wedge of lime provided in the to-go container that I could squeeze for some extra tanginess, I wish the dish was a tad more sour overall. It was nice and moderately filled with a mix of people. She just smiled and said she would love it if I did, but we both knew I wasn't trying to be were all day or spend that kind of money. I've been wanting to try this restaurant after I found it on Yelp earlier last week. The pictures and menu looked very appetizing and reminded me of another Thai restaurant in Berkeley. It's also under new management, so I asked the woman when I picked up my order if the new manager is the same one that owns Sistory Thai in Berkeley. She said yes they are and that she also works at that location too! I knew I recognized the similarities in the menu items lol. I'm so happy though, because now I don't have to go to Berkeley to eat my favorite dishes from there, because it's now at Banana Leaf! Anyways, we ordered on the phone and requested the kaeng karee gai tod and fried chicken over fried rice. It was around 2pm and I didn't realize that the fried chicken over fried rice was a dinner entree. However, the woman on the phone was said they were probably able to make it. I felt kind bad because I didn't realize there were two different menus. The restaurant closes at 2:30pm and opens back up at 5pm I believe. When I arrived, she told me that it was a slow day, so they were able to make the fried chicken over fried rice. She says we can always call and ask and if it's not busy, they should be able to make it. She was very friendly! The restaurant is bigger than Sistory Thai, however, the parking lot is small. It's hard to miss if you're driving on the main road because the restaurant is nestled in the corner behind the bushes/tress. It's behind Brasil Bistro. The kaeng karee gai tod is something I usually order at Sistory Thai and it's my favorite! The roti and curry dip is very delicious and the fried chicken is nicely fried with a light batter and is not greasy at all. My bf ordered the fried chicken over fried rice and says it's fresh and would get again. Very similar to the one at Sala Thai. I'm very happy that I discovered Banana Leaf and that they offer similar menu items as their other restaurant, Sistory Thai. For starters we had Fresh Spring Roll, Roti Dip, and Moo Krob. The accompanying sauces matched well with each dish. For the noodle soup we had the Kao Poon which was creamy and had light spice. It was great being able to reserve a table for brunch as that cuts down on the brunch wait time that many of us Bay Area folks fear! Easy to book on Yelp. It is a smaller restaurant but the seating is nicely spaced out and the interior is gorgeous. Banana Leaf shares parking with the dispensary Nug next door, however there is plenty of street parking as well. We had no trouble finding parking and the Bart is close by for easy access as well. The brunch menu has many options from savory to sweet and some with a mixture of both. It was nice to see a mixture of Thai fusion dishes for breakfast. However, though it was not a full house, the food service was slow. My partner received her food 7 minutes before I received mine. When her plumlicious bacon benedict came she said her poached egg, bacon, and sauce were all cold. The side potatoes were hot but everything else felt like it had been sitting. The English muffins were also not toasted so became soggy quickly. The plating was gorgeous, the flavor was there, but the service timing and temperature were off. It was awkward to wait that long for my food to come out while my partner had received hers so long before me. The fried chicken eggs Benedict was delicious and a large portion of fried chicken is served! The curry hollandaise sauce was so tasty and a great pairing. My eggs were also cold and the only saving grace was the hot chicken that warmed up the rest of my bites. I would love to try Banana Leaf again when they've had some time to settle into new management. I will definitely be back to try their dinner as well! we were seated right away, slightly after 12p on a Wednesday. Came with 2 co-workers, one ordered cheeseburger with fries and the other who suggested this spot had a bacon fried rice dish which came with an egg on top. I ordered spring rolls and tofu and in my opinion, it was just okay. The sauce for the tofu was honestly the highlight of the dish but other than that it was just blah and I felt the same about the spring rolls. I've been to Banana Leaf quite a few times with friends. It's American/Thai Fusion. Restaurant is small, quaint. Nothing fancy in terms of furnishings but the food and how the food is presented is often all that is needed Someone always greets us as soon as we enter. Ive never encountered a wait but I hear that occasionally there is a line because of recent popularity. I often venture into restaurants and order something different each time but I can honestly say I really enjoy two things there, One being that savory and sweet Plumlicious Bacon. You taste every delicious calorie...and i'm not a bacon person. I've also always had good luck with the Thai Tea French toast. The presentation on that is so pretty. It has a creamy sauce that is flavored with Thai tea as opposed to syrup, a cereal like topping that is sweet and adds a crunch, fresh fruit and berries. The french toast is cooked well with a slightly more crispy outer layer. I would venture to say the dish is also shareable Ive also had the Lemon Ricotta pancakes. Unfortunately they were a little dry and no accompanying syrup to help ease it. The Thai tea tini is served in a metal cup that is beautiful, has that classic flavor with alcohol. Great for a brunch date on a warm day. Most of the drinks that I have ordered there have a nice flavor so if you have friends, order a few different ones so you can try them. Charming concept with lovely decor, and the service is good. Unfortunately giving a 2 stars because of the quality of the food. Presentation of the food is really pretty, so I was excited to the try the food. My first bite of the Loco Moco, I unexpectedly bit into something very hard, which I had to spit out. It seemed too firm to be shells. Didn't resemble bone either. I wondered if it might've been plastic. Strawberry Matcha Latte- something to skip. The taste of milk overshadowed the matcha, tasted more like a milk and strawberry flavor. No matter how much we mixed it, it didn't taste any better. Thai Tea Latte was essentially just hot Thai tea. There was also a fly in my water cup haha but that's considering we were seated next to a plant. We also weren't given utensils but it was a very busy day! I'm disappointed but I hope things improve for them! read more

We were able to make reservations for brunch on Mother's Day! We had to wait for our table for a few minutes, not a huge deal, as it was a busy holiday. A few people in our party ordered bottomless mimosas, but they really only came to refill them here mimosas a couple of times and we had to ask, it wasn't just offered. It wasn't worth the price if they weren't going to be more on top of it! I opted out of bottomless and decided to try the February 15 drink and wow! It was so delicious, I had to order another. The last time I came for brunch they let me order a lunch food item, pad Thai, but this time they said I could not. I was a little disappointed and decided on the loco moco instead. It was very tasty, I would definitely get it again. I also shared a plate of the thai tea pancakes, which I'd recommend. The restaurant itself felt cramped and was loud, it was hard to hear the waitress when she was speaking. While they they accepted our reservation for a party of ten, it was in a very cramped spot of the restaurant and the servers had a hard time getting past the table where it was set up. Overall, I would recommend this place for its delicious food, but if you're looking for bottomless mimosas, definitely choose another place for brunch. read more
