They seem to be understaffed. I realize this a "corporate" veterinary, but there is just something missing; following a corporate rule book/following scripts vs. doing the right thing. Services are good, but throw out the corporate handbook. read more

I brought a new kitten here, and it was a really weird experience. The nurse was very obsessed with making sure I knew everything about having a new kitten. She spent an hour just talking to me about how I should care for the kitten. About 40 minutes in the receptionist came back and said they had no idea I was in a room or ready because the nurse had not checked me in on the computer. Then what the nurse told me the vet said the opposite. The price quote I got on the phone was $75 off, and again, it was just a very weird experience. I will likely not be going back here as I didn't want to sit in a room with a nurse an hour while she told me things I knew. Then she also tried to teach the new kitten how to drink from the sink! I don't want that cats should not be on counters. There can be dangers on a kitchen or bathroom counter it's why I have a fountain for my cats. I felt like she was just a little overbearing even though I knew it was meant in good spirit. I got want I needed done but again for me that employee was just a little too much. My visit was almost 2 hours, which is a little crazy for a vet visit. One of the cool things I liked was the welcome board in the reception showing the animals' names visiting that day. The Banfield Pet Hospital Upper Arlington location has failed to serve our dogs and my wife and me over and over again. That location has been continually dysfunctional to the detriment of our time and money. We ARE planning to take our business to a more responsible veterinarian clinic with better quality staffing that won't make ongoing mistakes and not having their procedures and guidance in order. You should close that Banfield. I highly doubt that we are the only Upper Arlington Residents that feel this way. read more

I had some trouble with Banfield in May. I finally have a conclusion to my story. My dog, Bella, developed inflammation in her right eye in May. I immediately took her to Banfield, but they said she was fine. Her eye became worse following that appointment, but I didn't know what to do next. I finally take her to a new vet and then to Medvet. She has an arrhythmia that Banfield somehow couldn't find and she had started developing glaucoma. I was able to save her vision in her left eye but the right is blind. Banfield refunded my appointment cost, but I now have a one eyed dog. I'm grateful she is still with us and active, but I can't help but think I could had saved both eyes if I went to a competent vet in May when symptoms began. read more

Would not EVER recommend the Upper Arlington Banfield Pet Hospital vet to anyone, especially those with cats. I have tried taking my cat to this vet several times and each time, I've been extremely displeased. My cat was a stray and I found her at 6 months, she is a sweetie and loves everyone she meets. The first time or two she had no issues. Then, I had taken her for her wellness visit one morning (they only allow drop off appointments) and received a call while I was at work that I needed to come get her due to them "not being able to contain her." As a vet, it's part of the job to be able to calm down pets and she is small, less than 10 lbs. When I showed up, none of the vets would go near her, they strapped a cone on her, and she was in a room with a bunch of other "aggressive cats" which made matters worse. They then let me know that the "vet wasn't mad at me for her behavior" like I should apologize for them scaring her. From then on, I asked for an in-room appointment because she never had any issues when I could see how she was being treated. Drop off appointments meant she was in the back with all the other dogs and cats for hours. They consistently kept messing up and taking my cat in the back room rather than allowing me to be with her, then would complain that she was "attacking vets" and "angry". I was told that I need to medicate her in order to bring her back for services, which I didn't feel comfortable with. Again, my cat has had NO issues with anyone, including strangers. My most recent appointment, I had scheduled an in-room appointment and again, she was taken to the back room away from me due to "not wanting to move the equipment". As mentioned on her account and by me, she doesn't like being away from me. The vet came back to tell me that she scratched someone and they couldn't perform her check up (yet I was still charged for a full exam). I asked for them to please do it in the room with me like they were supposed to. The two vets went outside my room and I could overhear them complaining about my cat and me, even though they didn't listen to her needs in the first place. They voiced multiple times that she got scratched and whined about being around her. Extremely unprofessional. I was then told that I need to medicate her in order for her to book an appointment again. This vet clearly doesn't handle cats well and doesn't approach things in a calm manor to ease the animal's nerves. I will never be taking any pets to any Banfield again. The only reason I put up with the poor service for this long is because they roped me into their year-long "wellness plan" membership scam. Go anywhere else, save yourself and pet the trouble. read more

Wow. This place is unbelievable. I bought the Optimum Wellness Plan and pay $70/month. When I called and left a message about my sick pet yesterday, no one called me back. I called again this morning and was told they had no appointments today or tomorrow and I should go to MedVet or a different animal hospital. Why am I paying for a plan that doesn't even allow for a sick visit? Not to mention when I called to cancel the plan, the wait was 60 min. I waited for 30 and the wait time was still 60 minutes. I got on the app to do a live chat and waited 15 minutes before someone talked to me. I was then charged $563.79 to cancel my plan. The customer service is terrible, both at the Lane Avenue location and when you call the corporate office. I loved the vets we worked with but that is the best I can say about this place. I've been taking my pup to Banfield since 2018 and have been taking him to this particular location for the last 2-3 years. I am still a big fan of Banfield but this location has went down over the years in terms of service, communication, and quality. The most recent appointment was for vaccinations and they took my pup from the private room we were waiting in for 30-40 minutes to the back to see the doctor for administering the vaccines, this should have been a red flag for me and I should've spoken up since they have never taken him back before and he has notes on his account that he can't be boarded or dropped off due to his response but I didn't and that's on me as his advocate and pup parent. They brought him back after around 15-20 minutes and stated that he was trying to bite through the leash and "nip" at the doctor and tech. I can't speak on what really went on back there since I wasn't seeing it first hand but I know my dog. chew through a leash? yes that's him for sure, nip at someone?? I prioritized redirecting and correcting that kind of behavior since he was a pup and I ensured that I socialized him in these common social settings. I have never heard of him trying to nip while at the vet, at the groomers, being boarded, watched by other people, etc. Again, I wasn't there but I do know my dog. Mind you, I've been there an hour now, the technician states that my pup is like "night and day" on how he is reacting in the private room vs. being taken to the back, states that the doctor doesn't feel comfortable administering vaccines, states the doctor would come speak with us, and starts talking sleepy medication that my pup should be on before coming back in a few weeks to see the vet again because this vet doesn't feel comfortable administering it without him on meds. Perfectly fine and I respect that, if you don't feel comfortable handling my dog then you shouldn't, but once we decline the medication and state we would like to try again with a different doctor in the room since we have never had issues like this before, basically rushes us out stating that okay if nothing else y'all can leave now, yall are free to go. She said this like 4-5x. The doctor never came and spoke with us and the technician didn't offer to reschedule an appointment for my dog with another doctor. It was very convenient that they were approaching closing. Just a horrible experience overall, sounds like I should find a different clinic either way. read more

DO NOT BUY THEIR HEALTH PLANS - At our aging cat's annual exam last year the team at Branfield convinced us an annual health plan was a good idea. Happy to say he has been healthy all year and as this year's exam date approaches unfortunately we're aren't, diagnosed with Covid yesterday we did the responsible thing and called to notify the location. A 14 day quarantine puts us at 4 days outside the contract expiry and the location refuses to work with us. Not willing to throw $600 down the drain, we said we'll see you at the appointment if that's the case. The location then has the nerve to say "that's unacceptable". Because hosing people out of $600 IS ACCEPTABLE?! read more

We took our dog in as we are suspecting he has ringworm. Our dog has signs and symptoms of ringworms My wife went to urgent care and was also diagnosed with ringworm. I now also have ringworm. The veterinarian Ms. Wattson didn't believe us that our dog has ringworm so it is now spreading throughout our household because she refuses to give us any treatment for ringworm for our dog. My cat has been having breathing issues and just recently his third eyelid was 50 percent closed for an entire day. When I called them concerned the first person I spoke told me to bring him in right away, the second said they have availabliliy next week, the third got him in that day. Well he went in alone, waited for hours and was pretty upset that that happened so they called me and told me they couldn't do any tests. I had to complain about the fact that it was useless and that paying for the visit was absurd. In the end they gave me some eye ointment and told me it was probably scratched and also it looks like he may have cut his ear or that there is blood in his urine. Fast forward five days and my cat can barely walk, his head is stuck tilted, and he's falling over. So I call them back extremely concerned and am told that they cannot see him for four more days. So instead I called German Village Veterinarian, and they very concerned squeezed him in two hours later. Turns out that stuff in his ear was puss from the start of what would become a terrible inner ear infection that's now affecting my cats nervous system. And that third eyelid was a clear result of this. Had Banfield cared about my pets well being they would have easily connected the dots and and these major symptoms could have been avoided. But because they did not treat him in any helpful manor, my feline friend may never be able to untilt his head. read more

Last night, my 14 year old dog Henry was suffering and when I came home from work, it was clear that it was time for him to pass on to a better place. My vet is in Lewis Center and I live in UA. It was too late to get to my vet. They gave me numbers of vets who will minister euthanasia in your home, but those phone calls only resulted in answering machines or a delay until morning for their services. As a last resort, I called Banfield Pet Hospital. Although they were closing in 30 minutes, they waited for me to bring Henry in and were understanding and kind. Dr. Ramos helped Henry transition to the place where he will no longer suffer. I truly appreciate their caring and willingness to go above and beyond at this very difficult time for me and Henry. read more
