I'm surprised to see all the negative reviews! I have a 2 year old Shih Tzu who's been a patient here since she was a puppy. We got her on one of the puppy plans that covered the cost of her spay and shots. I think it was $60 a month for the first year? Well worth it considering the spay alone and anesthesia and shots would've been more out of pocket. The puppy plan also covered any appointments she needed. It's a good insurance policy. If they think your pet does have an emergency situation they usually will recommend going to a pet hospital nearby. They close around 5 usually so anything after that you'll have to check around for a hospital. On the app they have an online person you can talk to with questions. The app is also really nice to have it shows all vaccinations, appts., etc. After every appt they call you to make sure your pet is doing okay and will tell you to call with any questions. This is really comforting. Sonja, Dawn, and Dr. Raji are the best!! Always so friendly and willing to help in any way they can to care for your pet. The only thing that I recommend is calling for your appointments. They got a new booking system so the app isn't always accurate. Thank you BanfieldPetHospital for taking care of my Emmy. I wish I could rate them a zero. The experience wax terrible the worst. My cat was only 7 years old and was very sick. He was never diagnosed by the the doctor..we had a female Dr. They kept charging me for unnecessary things I ended up paying 1800. For nothing. First of all the meds they gave he never got better. Claimed he had atheritis in his spine. That was wrong. The infection spread to his spine..I later found out when I had to go the emergency vet which cost me 2000 bucks. This place just takes money from u. Then he was severely dehydrated and had a third eyelid they never gave him fluids until.the emergency vet. Well he ended up passing away at only 7yrs old. My heart is broken. I blame this place and the dr. Also the staff very unfriendly. His death could have been prevented. Shame on this vet​ read more

Horrible experience. I regret not listening to the other reviews about Banfield, and I urge you not to make the same mistake. They overcharged me by $75 and took four weeks to process my refund, even though I provided clear screenshots and receipts. While Sonya was helpful in contacting the treasury department on my behalf, they refused to process my refund, claiming the transaction date was incorrect (even though they told me to wait to send the screenshot until it posted). When I asked to escalate the issue, I was only given an email address for the treasury department--no phone number. After emailing all the necessary information and proof, I didn't get a response. Instead, I received a call from another employee days later, who finally confirmed that I was correct. On top of this, whenever I called, I was frequently placed on hold for over 10 minutes without being asked if I could hold. This lack of professionalism, especially from the treasury department, made an already frustrating situation worse. Save yourself the headache and take the reviews seriously. I wouldn't recommend Banfield to anyone. read more

Called for an emergency euthanasia on a hamster that was suffering from a severe prolapse. Got a spiel from the woman who answered about not having any appointments and being booked out for several days. This isn't an appointment-type of issue, this is an emergency where an animal is suffering that shouldn't have to and given the type of animal it would take 5-10 minutes. I should also mention that they're considered a "veterinary partner" of ours and that our company extends discounts to their staff and this is the way they handle a distress call of ours. My regular location has been booked solid and it's now past time for my Marley's comprehensive checkup. I booked with this location which is also fairly close to me, a month in advance. The week of our appointment I received a voicemail that there was no Doctor that day and a reschedule was needed. I immediately received two text messages to confirm the same appointment. Talk about confused! So I called in and explained the situation. After a brief hold I was notified that the Doctor issue was resolved, but they realized they overbooked themselves for that day so "some" of the appointments were being moved. Of course we were in that "some". How unfair to me and my dog who waited a month just to be cancelled at the buzzer. Nonetheless I told them I would not be rescheduling with that location. I cannot go another month to potentially be cancelled. I have the monthly membership, but if you cannot get appointments I'm not sure what good it does. Highly disappointed. read more

Been taking my animals to them for years, never really had any huge issues until my cat recently got very sick & we needed to get an ultrasound. Whatever ultrasound tech they outsourced, cut my cat NUMEROUS times while shaving her. No one said anything to us or had any concern toward what transpired. I took my dog to another vet for 2 years and he loved it! Was always happy when we walked in and friendly to everyone there. After adopting a kitten at pet smart and receiving a free visit for the kitten at Banfield I learned about the wellness plans. My previous vet was a little pricey and my kitten's visit went well, so I decided to take my dog here as well. Big mistake! The tech suddenly came at my dog's head with a leash to take him to another room. She had not even mentioned taking him to me, and had not so much as pet my dog prior to coming at his face with a rope. He was startled a growled a tiny bit, but quickly quieted down when I told him to. She took him in the back and told them he growled, so they tried to muzzle him. I could hear my dog crying for several minutes and now he is terrified of vets. My dog loved the vet before taking him here. They traumatized my dog and now he has to be medicated to go to the doctor. I would not recommend Banfield to anyone! Horrible experience, and still dealing with the side effects over a year later. read more

And I've carried there insurance for Rosie today when I took her they told me how much it would cost me with the insurance it didn't cover her ear cleaning but I could have her nails done for 17.00 ok And then she the nuRae said it will be a couple hours now mind you she's had this appointment! I dropped my one year old bull dog off for his annual check up and to check his ears. After an hour and a half I was called and told El Toro my pup was too wild and I had to sedate him for a fee before he could be seen. I said no way. If this so called vet can't handle a one year old 50 Lb puppy then forget this. It's about charging me more to have him seen. My advise is to find a real vet. read more

I took my new puppy here because he had worms and I needed to get him in somewhere asap on a Sunday. As soon as I talk to the vet it just seemed like they wanted me to purchase their one year plan which seemed expensive. They didn't ask me much about him, not even his breed? Then they tried to tell me he had to start his booster shots over even tho I had paper work saying he got his first set? I took him to a different vet today and she told me he didn't need to start them over just get his second set, which is what I originally thought. I ended up paying half of what I paid at banfield at the other vet with his second set of shots. Basically it seems like they're too concerned with selling you their one year plan and not about your pets. Would not recommend read more

Almost killed our cat. Our cat lost over 5 pounds in a short period of time and after three visits they said it was just a urinary tract infection. After taking her to another vet, they determined that she had a thyroid condition and had to hospitalize her to get her back to normal. Now she is perfect, thanks to another Banfield. Stay away from the one in Willoby, Ohio. read more

This location really pisses me off ! I've always take all my pets to banfield (other locations) and loved it. But this location has rubbed me wrong multiple times! I've went in with my sister and her dogs and they were extremely nice and loving towards her dogs ! I decided to take mine here as well. The first time i came in they had no records of my dog who was at a different banfield. It's like her records were never put in. I was slightly annoying but we figured out what shots my dog needed. The second time I came in we were 5 min late to the appointment. I walked in to check in and apologized for being a few min late. The lady at the front desk was real mean about it and said "take a seat you've missed your appointment I'll see if we can fit you in somewhere" keep in mind, I was the only person there ! I waited about 10 min and then they took us.. I was still the only one there ! The third time I went in I wanted my dog to get the heart warm shot (which she was tested for not even 15 days before) the vet said ok we will test her .. I said no she's been tested already. She looked up the records and it was not in there ! But I was charged for it !!! She finally figured that whole situation out . Every time I come in they treat m and my dog like a piece of shit ! Where as they treat my sister and her dogs like royalty ! We are both paying for the Same services ! They also try to shove the animal insurance down my throat everytime ! I don't know how many times I can say NO ! This location needs a serious customer service class !!!!! read more

They are telling us we need to pay for it again. This is an absolute scam!!!!! Do not trust these people. Although they are good with the animals they are very shady business people. I brought my new puppy there because I got the 19.99 puppy pack which includes a "free vet visit" well we go there and the vet tries to convince my my 8 week old puppy has PARVO and needs all these expensive tests. I ask why she thinks that since he was vaccinated and then pulled up the symptoms. He had NONE she says "well the only way to tell is by doing a test" right... but there's no reason to believe it. She also tried to get me to do a laundry list of tests to the tune of close to 200.00. I decline all and leave. I made an appt with my normal vet (I should have in the first place) and she laughed when I told her about the parvo. He was healthy and happy (though he did have worms, common for puppies) the vet visit, next set of shots, fecal test, and wormer was all still cheaper than the tests at Banfield. We are part of the Wellness Plan and have gone for routine visits for years. In all cases our pet Shitzu Bichon mix has always been examined in front of us. This time we needed to go in for an appt because we needed a refill for her usual ear drop to treat her recurrent otitis externa that she routinely gets due to her floppy ears. No pain, minimal external redness, or discharge just the tell-tale yeast smell. Unbelievably, when we made the appt the appt secretary did not know what meds Piper was on despite receiving all our care at the same location since birth. We arrived and pulled her ears back so the Vet tech could look. She REFUSED to even look at her ears, busily typing into the computer, and handed me two cotton swabs for ME to take an ear culture (at this point she did not know I was a MD). I got one ear and she stated I did not go deep enough. I pointed out that this is unnecessary as there is a high risk of perforating an ear drum by randomly pushing a cotton swab into any animals ear (including humans). She laughed stating without a culture we cannot treat the dog (despite the fact that Piper has been treated for the exact same things numerous times at Banfield). She then stated the Vet (DR HOLLAND) will need to examine her in the back and proceeded to put on a choke collar (despite piper having a harness on that we asked her to use instead) and literally pulled piper by her neck to the back area to see the vet. At this point we never saw or even talked to the vet! Piper came back 5 minutes later with cheese all over her face , shaking, and the "Vet tech" joked that she couldn't clean it off and that Piper could not be examined to determine what treatment she needed. Piper can only be examined under sedation and we need to reschedule to do this. Now Piper is a small docile dog and we pulled her ears out again in front of the tech to show her how easy it is to examine a dog when you are not forcing it (things I assume they teach in Vet Tech school or to anyone who has ever had a pet understands) Piper has always been examined by the Vet (our usual Vet was on maternity leave) in front of us. We have never had such incredibly rude, uncaring, and horrible "medical" care. I explained that Piper has had recurrent otitis externa due to her ears and this was again an external yeast infection and we need the standard drop they always prescribe. I asked to speak with DR HOLLAND several times. The Vet Tech completely ignored me. I am a surgeon and received my medical degree from Harvard Medical School so I actually know something about medicine so the entire experience was mind-blowing. If one of my techs was acting like this one she would have been fired on the spot. The tech then proceeded to explain to me that this was otitis interna (without looking in her ear). I explained that interna is very painful and piper had no pain or discharge (and only minimal redness, but she didn't know this since they never looked). She then said Banfield cannot give anti-yeast products since they caused BACTERIAL resistant organisms! I explained how this was not possible. Again we NEVER SAW THE VET. We could ask NO questions to DR HOLLAND. We could only talk to an untrained Vet tech who even laughed that the last dog was horrible (which to me is incredibly unprofessional)...We are Never Ever going back and have will cancell the "wellness plan"....DO NOT GO TO DR HOLLAND although to be fair it is really just "Vet Techs" giving out medical advice at Banfields (which is illegal in human medicine). On the way out they had the gall to want to charge us for the hour we spent getting nothing done. We refused. read more
