Tucked away in a strip mall area just outside Mt Bachelor Village here in Bend, it's a must stop if in the mood for a tasty street cart style deli dog, or exotic combo like reindeer, Alpaca, Wild boar and others! Each delicious so far! When we'd been here last year, the place was jammed at night, and we'd sat on the outside patio with heaters aside each table. When the owner asks ya if you know what toppings you'd like, have him help you instead as I'd done. He knows his stuff clearly, and each time delicious. Obviously a family run spot with the family working the busy shop, very friendly and great beers on tap too. I was there just yesterday, and I just might go again tonight lol. First visit to Bend and feeling a little hungry and thirsty? This place is a must-try. I took my family and we loved it. The food was great and they have a terrific on-tap beer selection. Maybe best of all was the service. The staff checked in on us several times during our meal to ask if we needed anything. It was a little chilly and the indoor seating was full so we had to eat outside, and they even brought my wife and daughter blankets to help stay warm. The place is not busy. 4 tables including myself and two people ordering. They need a menu board out front so people can be deciding what they want before they get inside. My wife and I came to Bend on vacation and stopped here to have a late lunch. We were greeted at the door and had the menu explained to us first. The staff was amazing. The owner is incredibly unprofessional & defensive and now, in their last reply to me, dishonest. Owner, Rubens, wrote on Yelp, that I had "150 reviews and 110 are bad. Go figure" I have 161 reviews, 75 of those are positive reviews, from 3 star (A-Ok) to 5 Star (Whoohoo as good as it gets!). I have 86 negative reviews from 1 to 2 stars. My reviews are pretty even positive vs negative. I think that's fair & reasonable distribution and shows I don't only Yelp when I'm unhappy with an experience. I had started off giving B&B 2 stars but downgraded (like other reviewers have) due to the owners response! Look at the responses to 1 & 2 Star Reviews including recent review from Sonya where he once again mentions bullying come from unhappy folks not restaurants - he's calls the reviewer, who wasn't happy, a bully but is in fact the bully himself. And if you see WM's 2 star review (started of as a 3 Star) you will also see they received inappropriate response from owner & email bullying from random people. Justing M gave a 2 Star review and was told he was "bashing" a family restaurant. It's not just the 1 & 2 Star Reviews that get grief, it's also the 3 star reviews which are "A OK"! Look at the responses to some of the 3 Star Reviews - look for Bob J's and Robin S's and Cody P's and more. The owner gives them grief for a 3 Star Review! The deal is that you choose your sausage - then 2 toppings (we had caramelized onions, sweet peppers, cheddar cheese). Many more choices were available. Then you choose a sauce - so many! The best (we think) were the garlic aioli & the chimichurri mayo. On the side, we had some chimichurri & bread AND fries with bacon & Gorgonzola (absolute heaven). Very nice service, and while I like the food, I can't say its quite 5 stars. Worth checking out to see if worth the yelp hype. I've been three times now and have tried a variety of brats. Mixed bag. My single criticism is that they can sometime be dry. Some of the exotic meats are fun to try. Fries are good. Salad is average. Good beer menu. Atmosphere is basic, but I personally like that. There is a reason this places comes up as #1! After getting off work early on July 3rd - gotta go celebrate America, right?! - my husband and I made it early for happy hour. We were greeted right after walking through the door, and the friendly staff explained their menu and recommendations. We started with pints of local beer (something DELICIOUS from Bridge 99 for me) and a huge portion of bacon gorgonzola fries (only $3 during happy hour!) to share. After our first round, we ordered a different pair of beers and decided on splitting a rabbit and fennel sausage with chimichurri mayo and caramelized onions ($8.50). They even cut in half for us to make sharing easier! But wow. The prices may seem steep, but the flavors were incomparable. We are in Bend, Oregon-- establishments have to charge enough to pay their employees, pay the rent etc. And yes, you can go to the store and get a raw sausage for $2 or whatever that reviewer was saying. This place started off great just by the welcoming greeting from the owner. My family and I had never been here so the owner explained how the menu worked. You pick your sausage, topping and sauce which is a great idea so you can get exactly what you want. We tried bratwurst with grilled onions, peppers and chimichurri sauce, spicy andouille with peppers and grainy mustard, and water buffalo with sauerkraut and garlic aioli - yes, water buffalo. They have quite a few wild game meats. I'm not that adventurous, but the water buffalo was good. I loved the spicy andouille. A casual place with 2-3 tall picnic style tables inside and a nice patio with 4-5 tables outside. The owner and entire staff were very friendly. It was so nice to be greeted and thanked as we left. There is a reason Bangers & Brews comes up first when you search Restaurants in Bend. We walked on over while visiting recently, and we were blown away. We were immediately greeted by Frankie who was the sweetest and nicest person ever. She explained how the menu worked to us and made a couple of suggestions. We ordered fries, bread with a side of chimichurri, two sausages, and a couple of beers. The food came out quickly! My husband who is Brasilian immediately noticed that the chimichurri was VERY good. We proceeded to annihilate all of the food in front of us. If we didn't have dinner reservations already for the night, we probably would have gone back to try another sausage or two! We ate outside, but we made it a point to pass through inside on our way out to genuinely give our thanks. We ended up chatting with the owner for a good while, and it really just cemented our 5 star experience there. Turns out that the chimichurri is an old family recipe from Argentina! And what a fun moment when their Marcelo met my Marcelo. Moving to Bend has been on our minds for well over a year now, and gosh, meeting the people here like Frankie and Marcelo just makes my heart swoon and makes me feel like while this big move might be scary, there are amazing people on the other side. Next time we pass through Bend, we will definitely return. We can't wait. OH AND while we were all chatting, our sleeping toddler woke up. Yes, it's really that good. The reviews don't lie. In fact, I wanted to be that one guy who said, "It ain't true." But I'm not sure there's a bad sausage on the menu. They all taste like premium product all the way around. The bread is light and flavorful. The sauces pop. The toppings are top of the line. The people are crazy helpful. And the owners are funny and sweet. The bacon and gorgonzola fries are covered in white, sweet onion. Everything blends together so well, and the onions are so sweet. (I did once get some green in one, and yes, it was bitter. But that was just once.) The chimichurri everyone raves about? It's great too. Often, they come around with free samples of bread and chimichurri. Haven't had chimichurri? Think spicy pesto. It's great. Try it. Try Banger & Brews. I haven't had any of the brews, but there seems to be a lot available. Oh, and salads. Try a salad. Basically, you have no bun with your banger, and it's put on a bed of greens. I like to get mine covered in warm sauerkraut. I never thought I would say that. Heck, I don't even like ordering salads, but once you've had some standard issue dawgs, go salad--just to spice things up. Great pricing, too. There are a couple of TVs, not too loud. I was in Bend today for the first time on business. Decided to check out Bangers & Brews based on the backlash against the recent negative review. I am happy to report the place is fantastic. The guy at the counter was friendly and greeted every person who came to counter warmly. I peeked around the kitchen area as best I could and it appeared very clean, even though the place was packed. The line was 5-10 people deep nearly the whole time I was there. The food was fantastic, and I LOVED the fresh jalapeños on my sausage. Chili fries were delicious as well. Yeah, it's gonna cost you a minimum of $15 to eat here, but where doesn't it cost that much to eat at a non chain fast food place anymore?
