After reading many of the rave reviews, I decided to try the Massaman curry (takeout). This review is purely about the food. Massaman curry - Delicious sauce with authentic flavors (I've had this dish in Thailand many times) but fell short of expectations. The chicken was sparse and the ingredients appeared hastily mixed together. There was a small piece of plastic included with the sauce. Last time I checked, that wasn't part of the recipe... Coconut sticky rice - Very good. Definitely better than the store bought brand (Costco sells). Not much more I can say. Cool trendy thai spot the interior is very fresh with flowers hanging up in the ceiling add a unique touch. I liked the wide and spacious tables which made the place good for big groups. The highlights were the apps the volcano wings were flavorful and tender. The tofu was crispy yet perfectly soft on the inside with a great chew. The pork skewers were flavorful and juicy I perfer them to the chicken satay which I would have skipped. I also would skip the tea leaf salad it was refreshing with the mix of cabbage and tea leaf but i would have liked more tea leaf with the salad The mains were highlighted with the crab fried rice which was loaded with crab meat and was a well balanced dish. The drunken noodles were a highlight with a great chew on the noodle with a great texture due to the high heat on the wok. The beef was perfectly cooked as well complimenting the noodles perfectly tender yet adding some oilness to the noodles. The beef shank was super tender but I didnt love the combination with the curry almost overpowering the meat. Very solid Thai restaurant in Park Slope! The four dishes we ordered were all good portion sizes and pretty tasty, but nothing spectacular. We got some classics such as beef and basil, pad see ew, and chicken larb. We also decided to try one of their signature dishes, the Prime Rib Massaman. The meat could have been a bit more tender, but it was still pretty good. I would've liked if the curry were a bit thicker so the rice could soak it up a bit better. Just had the most amazing Thai dining experience at Bangkok Degree in Park slope , Brooklyn. This restaurant is beautifully decorated, creating such a cozy and inviting atmosphere. It's the perfect spot for a night out or a special celebration. We tried the Prime rib Masaman Curry, and oh my goodness, the flavors were out of this world. The prime rib was perfectly cooked, and the masaman curry had just the right balance of spices. The colossal Crab Meat Fried rice is also a must-try. It is loaded with a lot of crab meat. For a refreshing twist , we also ordered the spicy herb Fried Snapper with lemongrass and chilli lime paste dressing. It was a burst of flavors-spicy, tangy, and absolutely delicious. Don't forget the cocktails . The bartender really know their craft, and the drinks perfectly complemented the bold flavors of the dishes. They were fantastic. A big shoutout to the staff for their excellent service. They were attentive and friendly, and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Great Thai restaurant! Came here with my wife and friend, so I was fortunate to try a handful of items. We started with the Roti Massaman, the Mussels Paradise, and the Larb Tuna Tartare. All were good, but the talk of the table was the Mussels Paradise. The pot was full of large mussels. There were about twenty mussels which actually made this $17 dish a bargain. The broth was flavorful, and we ordered some extra rice for it. For the main course, we shared the Pad See-Ew with tofu and the Giant River Prawns Green Curry. The Pad See-Ew was solid but not too different from most pad dishes. The Giant River Prawns were the highlight of my meal. Not sure if these were giant prawns, lobsters, or another crustation lost in translation. Whatever it was, it was delicious! Nicely plated so you can pull out the tail and chomp up the body in a few easy bites without messing around with the prawn too much. Served in a rich and creamy curry. We were sure to finish up every bit of sauce with rice. Service was quick and attentive. They had a few beers and wines plus some interesting Thai inspired cocktails. I had high expectations of this place as I heard it was the best Thai restaurant in the neighborhood. And as you can see from my 5 star review, the rumors are quite true. The crispy duck with massaman curry was a 10/10. The duck was deliciously tender and juicy with a nice crunchy, crispy skin on the outside layer. The curry was also so good since it was a mix of potato, onion, peanut, and coconut milk. You can taste a bit of the coconut come through in the aftertaste. We had the prime masaman rib, masaman roti, moo ping, pad Thai with crispy pork, DB Drunken Noodles, and a few drinks. It was an amazing experience. The flavors were so fantastic and genuinely Thai. The drinks came in fast and were delicious.the masaman roti was absolutely divine and the entrees were so well portioned that we have enough to take away. I was pleasantly surprised that they gave a 10% discount for paying cash. Overall I would definitely come back and try more of the menu. One of my friends who writes about food, and lived in Thailand for some time, posted a picture from here on Instagram. It looked so good that I immediately hit the "like" button. The next thing I know, he sends me a message telling me how good this place is and that we should come and meet him for dinner. With his stamp of approval, I didn't need to be asked twice so my husband and I hopped the B train to Brooklyn for a delicious Thai dinner. We commenced with some Thai Iced Tea that was amazing. We let him order since he's an expert so we had a variety of dishes that we shared: Homemade Spring Rolls, Tea Leaves Salad, Larb Pork and Green Curry. The spring rolls were the best I've ever had. We also enjoyed the salad a lot. It was so refreshing. The Larb Pork was great, we ordered medium spice and it was pretty spicy but really good. They said they could make it a lot spicier! Friend and I stopped in for dinner. No wait and almost every table was taken. It look some time before our server came by to take our order and it took awhile for the food to come out. Appetizer: golden tofu (1/5) The tofu wasn't seasoned so it was just tofu and sauce. I expected it to have some sort of seasoning on it or some sort of pizaz. At least fry it with a coating so it has a nice texture. It came out really hot and really crispy (super different texture from the inside) so it was a little difficult to eat at first for those reasons. After it cooled down it was difficult to eat because it was so disappointing. Entree: drunken noodles (5/5) Ok this was good. Not much to add. Didnt finish it though, packed up the rest to go. Was still good later. Entree: crispy pork rice (5/5) Friend ordered this and said it was good. She finished her whole plate and was quiet while eating. Even though the appetizer was disappointing, everything else was good. Service was a little slow but understandable- they had a full house. The decor was beautiful. They're one of those places that plays pop songs that have been covered in one specific genre. I couldn't pinpoint the genre but the owners put some effort into setting up the vibe of the dining experience. It felt pretty calm. I didnt feel rushed. Went to Bangkok degree for the first time on a late night, they kept their kitchen open for us a few minutes so we are very grateful for that. We ordered the BD drunken noodles and the crispy pork stone meal. Both were absolutely amazing. The ambience was very nice and active enough for an evening. It has been a busy few months, as you can see. We went to this restaurant back in May. It's almost August...very very busy. We don't even live in Brooklyn anymore that's how far behind I am in these reviews. That being said, this place was right by our old apartment in Brooklyn. We have another couple hanging out with us that night so we went here. It's a popular place so it's always crowded and the wait staff is staffed. The decor is beautiful, very floral and green. It's not a large restaurant. It fits maybe around 50 people. The food was amazing. We started with dumplings and roti, both amazing. It's been a few months since I ate there but I can tell you that the food did not disappoint. I got the Khao Soy Chicken - best decision ever. It was not too rice, but it wasn't super spicy either. They give a large chicken drumstick and if you eat it with the roti, it's really perfection. Lots of flavor and I think it's a traditional dish. The couple got a pad thai with shrimp and a pineapple fried rice - which were also very good. My husband, A, got pad see ew because he doesn't like spicy or to try new things. I liked my first time delivery from Bangkok Degree. They're located in Park Slope but the delivery time took a bit longer than usual. Look, I get it since it was a Friday night. The order was simple: *Chicken and Shrimp dumplings ($9) *Spicy Eggplant with Chicken ($16) *Shrimp with Ginger ($18l. The dumplings were 4 pieces to a portion and pretty good. The taste was a bit bland but overall satisfactory. We shared both mains. I noticed the Shrimp dish to be an underwhelming portion. The flavors were good and although it was prepared with a brown sauce, I didn't find it oily or salty. I liked the Eggplant dish although there was hardly any Eggplant which was unusual since it's a cheaper ingredient. The flavors were good and included a fair amount of chicken. We ordered the pad thai with squid and I was pleasantly surprised that instead of frozen squid rings, we got squid pieces that didn't taste frozen. We also got the green curry with shrimp, which was plump and on the larger size. Both dishes were well seasoned and delicious. Finally, they were very accommodating in getting us warm Thai tea instead of iced because my wife prefers warm tea. This review is for in person dining. We did takeout from Bangkok Degree about a year back and it was quite good, though we had a sense that most of the dishes we'd really love would be best in person. This was confirmed in due course. My first suggestion: go straight to the Signature Dishes page for your mains. We had an incredible short rib curry that was absolutely among the best of its kind and very generous on the beef. Perfect balance on the sauce to boot. The pineapple duck with lychee was also superb...it was fun to hunt out those sweet little lychees within a savory sauce. Skip the roti - they were sad little discs, not the super flaky, papery roti you crave when you see it on the menu. They can do better on that one. But everything else we had was excellent. We walked in on a Friday early-ish and were the first table there. People of Park Slope: if you want great restaurants to stay, you need to dine in at a place like Bangkok Degree. I worry that if they don't attract more foot traffic, this really special restaurant won't stick around (but perhaps, judging by all the other positive reviews and the many critics raves, we were just there on a slow night). I'd highly recommend getting a reservation should you wish to dine here, especially on the weekends. We were lucky to be there early, but by the time we were done almost the entire dining area was full! As for the food, we ordered two entrees. One we liked a lot, while the other disappointed. The spicy basil fried rice is normally a safe bet when it comes to Thai dishes, and sure enough we really liked ours. However, the beef jungle curry which sounded like a great idea, disappointed. The curry was more watery than we'd hoped, and had a strong gingery taste. My favorite Thai spot in the area. I love Bangkok degree and brought family visiting from out of town there - this restaurant was the food highlight for our entire trip. The menu is fairly varied and everything you order you can specify mild, medium, or spicy. Be warned that here, unlike most places, when they say spicy they really mean it (which I love) I got the pad Thai with chicken (spicy) and it was incredible. It's a small intimate restaurants with great service. I had the drunken noodles with shrimp and a passion fruit mojito. My friends had the green curry with a mango mojito. They were both delicious. Just the right amount of spice and kick. Both came with a salad and either dumplings or spring roll. The only downside is it is extremely tight. This place is blowing up. We arrived around 6:15pm with reservations on a Friday but within 15-30 min, they were packed. They even put out tables and chairs outside to accommodate. What I love most about this place is their unique dishes with spectacular presentations. They really make dishes I've tasted elsewhere quite an experience. Besides this, their service (although they get very busy and can take a bit to get their attention towards the end of the meal especially on a weekend) is attentive and charming.
