Popped in here on a Saturday when we strolling up and down College Ave. This place is at the end, closer to Broadway and it has a cute little side garden. Very impressed with their shrimp spring rolls ($11) with this tasty homemade peanut sauce. We shared a soup, a Coconut flavor bomb soup with chicken (can't recall the name of that soup) ($15). The rolls and the soup were enough for the both of us, and 2 tasty beers to wash all down. It was delicious and I would go back but I have questions about their billing as I did not leave a $50 tip. If something was rung up incorrectly I wish they would have called before fudging the bill like this. I did not look at the amount my order was and just gave the server my card. I definitely ordered more than $24.99 of food but without a receipt I am not sure of pricing and if I ordered $74.99 of food. I remember leaving a $10 tip so that would be roughly a difference of $40 between the original charge and the final cost. A heads up that the original charge was not accurate and they needed to charge it again would have made more sense than adding a "tip" amount that isn't accurate. I would still eat here again I just wish there was better communication if there was an issue with the bill. Update: owner sent me the correct bill and everything checks out. We got the duck curry and chicken pumpkin curry, pretty standard stuff, was not impressed. It comes in very generous portions, each entree could easily feed 2 people, but we didn't even take the leftover home. The curry was on the bland side, the chicken was so bad, tasted like they just boiled sliced chicken breast and threw them in the curry for 2 mins. As I was taking a stroll down the street, I noticed the smell of flowers coming from the garden and decided to stop by for a small meal. I'm so glad I did because this place is such a hidden gem! 1. The crab rangoons (5/5 stars) were hot, crispy, and absolutely delicious, and the sauce that came with them was just as good. This was my first time trying crab rangoons, but I'd definitely come back for them! 2. The crispy fried tofu (3.5/5 stars) was essentially just plain tofu, but the peanut sauce added a lot of flavor. My food was served very quickly and my waiter was friendly, attentive, and helpful. It wasn't crowded at all, and there was lots of seating. This is a hidden gem. We randomly stopped inside after a spa day. The hostess was quick to seat us and take our order. The menu had a variety of tasty dishes. This establishment pays attention to detail. The cucumber slices are prepped with the mandolin. The peanuts are placed on the side and are ground to a fine texture. I really appreciate these details because you are able to savor the flavors. Can't wait to go back and try more dishes. The street they are located is metered parking. I have ordered Bangkok Garden a couple times for take-out and we have always enjoyed our food and had a great experience! I hope to stop in one day soon to eat in the restaurant. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Most recently, we ordered chicken pad thai, beef red curry and bbq pork fried rice. We really enjoyed each of these dishes! The red curry is probably my favorite because of the spicy kick it has as well as the yummy vegetables soaked in the curry. Delicious food, friendly service. I am a big fan of authentic Thai flavors and feel strongly that Thai chilis belong in Thai food and jalapeños do not, but of course jalapeños are cheaper and easier to find in the Bay Area, so that many SE Asian restaurants substitute them for the traditional prik nok, or tropical bird chilis. But to me the flavor as well as the way the spice "burns" is very different. Many of the dishes on the menu here list jalapeños in the ingredients. All of that said they provided thai chilis in the prik naam pla, on the side and everything was delicious, tom ka goong, fried rice with grilled pork, and crab puffs were all really good, the lunch menu is varied and has tons of appealing options. This is the former "Sabuy Sabuy" - and the menu is slightly different. I miss the old style pad prikh khing and the off-menu crispy tofu with chili garlic sauce (OMG the BOMB!) The new chef and menu offer an amazing mango curry which makes me very happy. The mushroom w Thai basil is also a great pick. The pineapple rice was just okay - I'm not sure I would re-order that. The server and their customer service are wonderful and very friendly, not only for dining customers but also pickup customers. The restaurant provides 2 sections of seating area, warm decoration with the seats inside, or beautiful gardening seats outside. I can tell that they pay extra attention to all details including the decorations, and even the serving plates. Oh, did somebody say Thai food??? Um... YAAASSS please! There can never be too many Thai options in little ol' Rockridge if you ask me! I've been eyeing this little joint ever since I saw that "Bangkok Garden" sign pop up on the exterior. I had never tried the previous restaurant that was called Sabuy Sabuy, but I heard good things about it. It seems that Bangkok Thai Cuisine in Emeryville and Sabuy Sabuy have teamed up create this lovely new Bangkok Garden! This restaurant is located right next to Wendy's. It's street parking only around these parts, and yes it's a struggle... but hey, that's just Rockridge for you. You order at the counter and they deliver your food to your table. Lunch is served from 11-3 and they have a nice looking lunch menu with specials that are priced around $9-$10. They have a handful of tables inside but you must take advantage of that beautiful outdoor seating area! I was actually quite surprised that they had an outdoor patio hiding back there, and probably wouldn't have noticed this if the one of the ladies at the counter hadn't pointed it out. The outdoor seating is ample and also super adorable! It was beautiful out when I went, so I had to take full advantage of this opportunity. I didn't see any heat lamps out on the patio but there were a few large umbrellas. The staff that I encountered was so gracious and thanked me profusely for coming in. They were all smiles and I felt welcomed as soon as I walked in. One benefit is that the restaurant opens up at 11 am. One of my favorite Thai restaurants is right down the street from here, but they don't open up until 12 which is kind of inconvenient because I take lunch pretty early. It's nice to have another option available here for lunch. So now that I got all of THAT out of the way, let's get to what's most important here; that good ol' grub! I'm happy to report that it was yummy in my tummy! I ended up ordering their green curry lunch special with chicken and a Thai iced tea. First off, that Thai iced tea was perfect! For $3, they really hooked it up with a pretty large cup and they didn't over fill it with ice (one of my biggest pet peeves when I order Thai iced tea). But that green curry thoooough! Just gimme all of that spiciness! I opted for a medium spice level and at first I didn't taste the spiciness right away. But like a well mixed cocktail, that sucker will surely creep up on you! It starts off subtle but a few bites in and your tongue will be tingling. The curry was filled with great Thai spices and had the perfect milky consistency. The chicken was tender and sopped up all of the juices from the curry. The rice was fluffy and thoroughly cooked. At first glance the portion looked to be small, but I left filled up and satisfied! It's always nice to have something affordable on this expensive block. I'm hoping that they do well here because I can see myself coming back here for lunch quite often. read more

The pad see ew here is pretty good! I've ordered delivery many times and the portion is good. They give a sturdy amount of carrots and broccoli with the noodles too. I do think that the noodles need more sauce though. Some of them lack any sauce. Also the noodles moosh together sometimes. The mango sticky rice is a tiny portion for the price so I probably wouldn't order that again. read more

The fresh spring rolls were not bad, but very questionable pad see ew :/. They seem to have reallly skimped on (or forgotten) the pad see ew dark sauce entirely, noodles hardly had the flavor you usually have in pad see ew and were very light colored (and none of the flavor reached veggies), see photo. Also the noodles were very broken up, as was the egg which ended up in tiny pieces. I guess this is a reminder to me to check yelp before ordering from new places! read more
