A post 5th grade graduation for the adults. We were the only ones at 10 am! We received undivided attentions. The food was great!

Every time I come here I'm Satisfied! The Vibe is Right the Staff is Always Super Friendly and Nice! The Food Smacks and The Beastmode is My Ish!! You'll definitely be More then Full & Happy Leaving Here!!! Yeeeeee

    Shrimp & Grits with bacon

If you can't eat without making grunting or mmmhmmming don't expect to do so here, the food that good! I came in on a fluke and it did not disappoint. The reviews are all true! Big BIG portions, full of flavor and an extremely great price. This not yo mama or yo granny's. This another level. I got shrimp and grits with bacon and my goodness smh, gut busting. This made my top 5 this year. You gotta try it.

The Beastmode combo is the way to go! An employee at the restaurant told my aunt to get it rather than the plates she was planning on getting, and she did not regret it. The food was really good. With the addition of some oxtail plates and sides, The Beastmode was enough to feed a family of 8 with leftovers! We had yams, mac and cheese, greens, green beans, fried fish, fried chicken, oysters, oxtails and pork chops. The one miss was maybe the cornbread, which seemed a bit undercooked but everything else smacked.

Omg the green beans! lol I'm sure this surprises us all, but you have to try the green beans, they're super flavorful and brightly colored! Smack and give me the recipe, pls! Fish has a great home fried taste; and the chicken is very tasty as well. Mac was delicious. I was very satisfied with my food and I look forward to trying the friend pork chops!

Hands down some of the best soul food I've had! It's always poppin in there. The staff is extremely friendly & welcoming, and it seems like they have a lot of regulars. We came around 4ish on a Sunday & it wasn't too busy. We probably missed the rush, because the time we got there they were out of greens. Just another reason for me to go back haha. You will definitely need multiple visits to try everything on their menu. Their fried chicken was perfect! I'm not that much of a grits fan (it's a texture thing) but the gravy they put on the savory shrimp & grits is sooo flavorful. I'd ask for a side of the gravy alone & put it on everything! Hopefully you have a sweet tooth because they also make some super delicious cake! Rob Ben's is a must when you're in the area. They also have an outdoor area, cool little kick it spot - perfect for hosting an event!

Smothered pork chops, red beans and rice, candied yams, and corn bread.

Food was very good, service was second to none. Ambiance was friendly welcoming. Pork Chops over rice, with a side of red beans and rice with candied yams and corn bread. I was so full after eating. The food was delicious. Everything was on point like if it came out of Mama's kitchen. Only problem was I had no room for dessert. The portions are huge.

2 park chops under 3 big wings under a bunch of catfish. String beans and Mac n cheese on the side. Waay too much for 2 people

Get there early. The bartender and the Sista that waitresses. That food and the drinks are so delicious. The waitress is super busy but goes overboard to accommodate everyone. So please b patient. It's worth the wait.

The atmosphere of The Lodge is very cozy. There's a fireplace in the middle of the room across from the kitchen and the overhead lights are all a warm, amber yellow. The music on the speakers get pretty loud in some parts of the space so its not the easiest to hold a conversation without raising your voice. Like most dive bars, you place your drink order at the bar and seat yourself. Food offerings vary depending on which establishment has their pop-up setup in the kitchen that evening. Be sure to check out their Instagram page to get the most up to date info on food. During our visit, Saap Saap Culture was serving up delicious fried chicken and egg rolls plates. As for drinks, my wife and I tried out two of their hot toddy's and we really enjoyed them -- absolutely perfect for the cold 40 degree winter weather outside. I also tried out their Modelo Chelada Michelada and ounce-wise, it was a ton of beer. Taste-wise, it was nothing special. The free pop-corn machine in the back was broken during our visit so we didn't have a chance to try it out. Overall, pretty chill dive bar that I wouldn't mind stopping by again. I like that they take card in addition to cash, and the bartender serving us during our visit was friendly. 3.5 rounded up to a 4.

Can't quite describe it but it didn't feel like an SF bar, felt more open and like a community watering whole. On to the food and drinks. I'm vegetarian so was so excited to try the dogs - which are vegan. And I may be biased but you cannot tell that you're missing out on anything with all the flavor packed combos. The bun was fluffy and soft and you have multiple fun themed options to choose from. My partner and I ended up getting the deli dog and truffle meltdown. Deli was perfect - classic mix of spice and crunch with the spicy brown mustard and giardiniera peppers. And the truffle meltdown was so savory and decadent - totally different flavor profiles from each dog! We were only going to grab one drink but the menu was so inventive we ended up getting two. I ordered the banana hammock (which comes with a fire show) and espresso martini slushee which was is up there with the frozen Irish coffees I've had in New Orleans. Man writing this has my mouth watering... definitely coming back for more dogs, drinks, and vibes!

I've heard all the hype about Tallboy, so I had to check it out myself…read more I do think it lived up to some of the hype, but I think they could've used their space better. It is a unique layout to a bar, and probably better concept for earlier hours, when it isn't as crowded during the night. It can fill up really quickly, since the area to order a drink, dance, and mingle is narrow, since the bar is literally in the middle of the room. Some of the staff can be extremely nice and kind, and there are some who you can tell are fed up, upset, and don't have the best attitude. I get it, though. It's a cool bar to check out or be the first stop of the night. The djs they have always turn up. Good luck getting a drink under 15 minutes though!

I visited La Loulou several months ago and wanted to give it some time before writing a review…read more After recently having a wonderful experience at another wine bar, I realized the difference in hospitality was too significant not to mention. I really wanted to like this place. I'd walked by several times and loved the interior design, and the videos on Instagram made it seem like such a great spot. I stopped in one evening by myself, ordered a glass of wine and the warm olives (which were delicious), and was looking forward to a relaxing night. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest disappointment. The restaurant was packed, and the atmosphere felt more concerned with maintaining an image than making guests feel welcome. I understand some restaurants embrace a more reserved European style of service, but this came across as cold and pretentious rather than intentional hospitality. As a solo diner especially, I didn't feel acknowledged or valued as a guest. It also didn't help that the dining room had a noticeable body odor smell that took away from the experience. On a positive note, the bathroom was clean and beautifully designed. I originally thought this would become my go-to place to grab a glass of wine while waiting for a table at the ramen spot next door, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Reading through other reviews, it seems I'm not the only one who had this impression. Oakland's charm has always been its people. You can open a French-inspired wine bar, but hospitality translates into every language. If you're going to bring a Parisian aesthetic to Oakland, don't mistake indifference for sophistication. Guests should leave feeling welcomed, not judged.

And that is saying something because I never take pictures of bathrooms for reviews lol. The food is just as pretty as the decor. Every plate we ordered came out looking beautiful. The 4 stars is really because although the food looks pretty, I would say everything tastes okay, nothing really stood out particularly in taste. If this review was based on food tastes alone, and not looks, vibes, and the great show, it would've been 3 stars. The flautas were a bit too hard for me. Ive had way better flautas at El Torito's in San Leandro. Although there were only like 6 of us total in the audience for the show, it was still really enjoyable. The host, Tony Parker has great energy, and a lot of the comics (I think were like 5 or 6) had us laughing throughout. No one was safe lol.
