This place is so sweet! Don't let the small space deceive you, it's delicious. We love Thai food, and this was one of the best places my family has had in a while. I ordered take out since I'm visiting the Cape with mom and sis for a few days. It is freezing out, so we decided a few appetizers and a few entrees would cover us for lunch and snack time. The food is good, and fresh, and there is plenty to share, and there is still some left to snack on this afternoon. The spring rolls were perfect, with a crispy, flaky, wrapper. My sister really enjoyed the Pad Thai and mom ended up eating the wings as her lunch it was so good. The only thing that was missed was the request for no mushrooms in the hot basil. My allergy is mild, but I still found a couple of peices of mushroom, which leads me to believe the ingredients are pre-mixed with no real option to modify the recipe, so they try to pick them out. Okay...so this place looks very scary...... planes are literally flying over your head to land at the airport directly across the street as you walk into the restaurant, there is no parking (except in the back of a shoe-box of a restaurant in a seedy-looking alley that is surely a mugger's paradise), no ambience here, and the only people watching you will be able to do will be in the form of looking at some sad soul pushing a shopping carriage full of odds and ends headed towards the shelter. If you are really lucky, you might see one of Barnstable's finest busting someone for something in the Staples parking lot. The blue lights can actually be quite hypnotic and pretty at night. You can see and and hear (the airplanes, remember?) all of this and more from your tiny, rickety table looking out Bangkok Kitchen's windows which are in some need of a squeegee. Why, why on earth would I give this restaurant five stars? Do I just feel sorry for the kind hostess and humble waitstaff? Do I enjoy feeling like a sardine in a can for an hour? Am I trying to get "street cred" by eating here? It's none of the above. I come here at least twice a month because the food, service, and the patrons are the best in the world. It attracts a crowd that does not feel like they have to been seen or heard. The patrons are just people who know what they want, and they are secure enough to overlook outward appearances and focus on what really matters on the inside...the food. The food is clean, consistent, and light. You leave feeling satisfied and pleased with yourself for resisting the temptation to try that trendy restaurant on Main Street. After eating this food, you feel surprisingly healthy and not guilty (okay...maybe just a little if you ordered the tempura dish as an appetizer and told yourself with every bite that they are just "coated vegetables"). I have never had a bad meal here....never. Everyone at Bangkok Kitchen is so kind and accommodating as well. I have noticed this summer that there has been a bit of a wait time during the dinner rush. Most people have been willing to wait because the food here is so worth it. I get a kick out of watching them being told to wait but there is not waiting area, The dazed and scared look that comes across their faces when they realize they have to temporarily leave the safe nest and figure out how to remain safe for the next 15-20 minutes before dining is amusing . I love watching them wonder if they should go back to their cars in the dark alley or stand in front of the restaurant enjoying some of the same views I previously mentioned. It doesn't matter to me.....I have my basil fried rice, my pad thai, rangoons, and a sweet Thai iced tea to wash all of that deliciouness down. Maybe I will order the fried ice cream.....they can wait another 10 minutes! read more

One of my all time favorite places to eat in the Hyannis area. The food is great, service is excellent, and portion size is enormous. The hostess is always happy to see me and makes me feel warm and welcome every time I arrive. The duck with tamarind sauce is absolutelt to die for!!! I even brought in a 20lb striped bass for them to cook once. They cooked half of it in the tamarind sauce, and half in a spicy sweet and sour sauce. The fillets themselves were crispy and delicious. After all the work they did and the tough preperation, we got a meal fit for royalty. Three of us ate the dinner and still had a huge amount of leftovers. All in all the bill was only $42. If you are looking for authentic Thai food, that's well worth the price, then this is the place for you. My only complaint is that the buildingitself is small, and lacks parking. Simply the best Thai within 150 miles, hands down. Everything is amazingly fresh, prepared fast, refined and superior to any Thai I've had. Drag your best foody friends here. Hopefully they'll be a table, because it can be crampy. If it's cold outside, the door will open and you will feel it. But please, regardless -- GO! Yellow curry is outstanding, as most dishes. First time at the Bangkok Kitchen. The only empty table, of 6, was next to the windows and door. Because I get cold so easily I was leery to sit there but I settled in and ordered. After a few minutes I realized staying would be a mistake so I converted my order to take-out and moved away from the table to wait. I started with the Bangkok Salad (5.95) which was a decent sized simple salad with hard boiled egg and fried tofu. The fried tofu was different from what I'd had before. It was fried hard, all the way through. Not bad, just different. I tried the spring rolls(4.95) but they were pretty bland. Crispy, even on take-out, but bland. For an entry I had Hot Basil with Tofu (7.95). It was supposed to be spicy but really had little spice taste to it. That might be my fault. My own cooking at home is getting spicier and I think my taste is changing. The flavor was ok but not special. Way too much sauce which really wasn't special in any way. The entree was served with jasmine rice. I have to say, I don't really like to judge a place by it's takeout. It's never the same as eating in situ. I would try again in the spring or summer. read more

I feel like it's very difficult to find good Asian food in Cape Cod. We were getting pretty tired of seafood (I know - blasphemy!) by the end of our trip and we decided to spice things up with some Thai for dinner. I'd say the food was pretty average, but it's probably the best option in the area if you're having a hankering for some pad thai. My pad kee mao (drunken noodles) wasn't bad - but the chicken was a bit dry. The food is definitely spicy though! Yes, this place gets 5 stars. Why? Because the atmosphere is charming the food suburb. A family run place, you are always welcomed graciously and prices are amazingly reasonable. The Red Curry is marvelous but nor overpowering. Eggplant in garlic is ambrosia. Seafood is usually fresh and any dish with shrimp is simply to die for. The Pad Thais are generous--some could be made with ducks' eggs (double check with the friendly owner.) Soups are tasty and light--very subtle good flavor. I recommend this adorable place. Worth the wait...Tiny dining room was full on a Tuesday at 6:30, the owner took our name and offered to call us back when a table was ready, since there is no place to wait, it's that small. On our way out a local who thought we were leaving said we should wait it out as the food is that good. He was right! Started with fish cakes and spring rolls, both were out fast and spot on. Shared a green curry, pad see mao, spicy Thai eggplant, all were excellent. Thai coffee and mango rice was great as well. The food looked just as good as the other photos on yelp, so there was no point in reposting. The owner and staff were so very friendly and hospitable. 3ppl, $83 out the door. I would try other places in town before I would go back, however, I would go there again. I had the drunken noodles (pad kee mao) and my colleague ordered mango curry with scallops for lunch. Thai is hit or miss with us, bc we have a place we adore back home. Bangkok kitchen left us pleasantly surprised. I ordered the drunken noodles (pad kee Mao, I believe it was called?) and loved the amount of veggies in it: bell peppers, green beans, onions....yum. Noodles were very wide and there was a ton of chicken. Hubby's pad see ew looked delicious and had mushrooms as well as broccoli. We aren't used to Thai having such a variety of veggies, so this was a nice change. Parking was a little scary. You have to drive in between the two buildings and park in back. (You don't think your car will fit but our ford fusion did.) Tiny TINY dining area. Be prepared to wait outside for a table to become available if you have a party of 4 or more (we watched this happen). Good food and friendly service. read more
