Not literally, but when our daughter started going to school here we didn't have high food hopes despite it being a college town. Places like this have proved us wrong! Very large sizes but minimal protein, boring flavors, Sriracha and other bottles didn't aid in either giving good tongue tingle or color to the basic soup appearance. Surprisingly fantastic spring roll and dip! They can obviously do flavors, textures, and crunchy goodness which needs to expand to the rest of the menu. Our Thai was also delicious, balanced and giving hand crafted bonus points for rich sips. I came here on a week day for the first time recently and I was satisfied with my visit! You order at the counter then they bring your order to you wherever you're sitting. There was lots of seating when we went. For the pho, I felt the meat was pretty tough and the broth's flavor could be a little stronger, but this is solid pho for Lafayette. It's little and not much parking, but there's ample seating and it's cute and clean (no changing station in the bathroom though in case parents of littles were curious). The bahn mi is on the right kind of bread--crispy outside and light and flaky. A lot of them are usually on a doughy Italian bread? This one is good! The pho broth is really nice and clean--and a great option for littles who can't handle spicy. The owner is super sweet; she came to talk with us for a little. For Indiana, I guess this place will rank pretty high, since there are so few places that specialize in banh mi. I ordered the spring rolls with pork and then the combo banh mi. Let me tell you about the pork chops, when I say that this was the thickest piece of Vietnamese pork chops I have eaten, I really mean it, most Vietamese restaurants I have been to and I ordered the porkchops they are usually flattened. But here they gave me the thick kind, and it was decently well cooked, pork chops,if not cooked properly, they tend to be really tough, but here they got it just right. What would really help kick this pork chops kick to the top is if was served with a side of fried eggs. That would be a win! I decided to go vegetarian at this Vietnamese restaurant; tofu bahn sandwich, vegetable dumplings (they're deep fried) and fried tofu. My girlfriend had the shrimp spring rolls. The food was outstanding! The baguette was absolutely perfect for the sandwich. The tofu was perfectly deep fried - not soggy and definitely firm! I think Banh Mi Eatery is more like 3.5 stars but I'll round up. Food here is not bad, tastes good and bread is flaky/crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I can't find other places that make banh mi nearby, so not much to compare to. But prices here are pretty high for what it is, and unless I'm really craving banh mi, not sure if I would get it. I've done take out and catering from here and I would highly recommend double if not triple checking your order with them in case they misheard and you get a bunch of tofu instead of pork. Service is fast, but not always accurate. I've never dined in, but the times I've gone there was plenty of seating and I always found a spot in the front even though there's only 5 spots. Cute little place! So glad I finally got around to trying it. They were pretty busy with take out orders, which was awesome to see. It's sort of in a random location on 4th street. The appetizers- listed as sides, were excellent. Fried tofu was so crispy and the dipping sauce was tangy. My friend loved the dumplings. If you order water, you get a cup and a pitcher on the table. Because of the raw jalapeños on the sandwiches, I appreciated this touch. The classic Banh mi was really delicious and something different. I bet I will be back again this week. So good. read more

We ordered two banh mi sandwiches and one set of spring rolls to go. The rolls were good, with the rice paper being chewy and the insides being crunchy. They also came with a creamy peanut sauce. The sandwiches were great! A problem I face with banh mi sometimes is that the bread is too tough to comfortably chew. Here, the bread is very soft and flaky. The marinated pork that I ordered was quite oily and very sweet, but good in general. The jalapeños were busting out of the sandwich when we opened it up. Additionally, I wish the cilantro were more leaf than stem. And we didn't get any napkins! Location-wise, it is difficult to turn left into the parking lot because of its proximity to a stoplight, so you may have to drive down and turn around to be able to turn right into it. This was such a great place! I really, really, REALLY enjoyed the tofu bahn mi! It's not easy to fry tofu perfectly, and this restaurant absolutely did! The FOH staff was fine, taking orders behind the counter, delivering the orders to the kitchen and bringing the food out to the table. She was the only staff that we actually saw. There are lots of bottled soda and so-so bottled beers in a self-serve cooler. The sandwich itself had what was probably pork, but it was served as a thin layer lunch meat style slices. I met a friend here for lunch on his recommendation. I'm always up for something new and Bahn Mi delivered. I tried the steak pho and it is delicious. Plenty of rice noodles and broth, and nice tender pieces of steak. My friend had the shrimp and complained a bit because the tails were still on. He didn't like pulling the shrimps out to pull the tails off. I put a bit of hoisin sauce in the broth and it really brought out the flavor. This building has been empty for a long time, and I was so excited when I saw that this restaurant was going in. I finally stopped by and ordered a couple banh mi's to go. I got the classic for my son, and the marinated pork for me. The sandwiches were larger than I thought they would be (very filling), and a great value for the price. Wonderful! The last time I was in Lafayette, I saw this restaurant and said "I have to try this!". I am from California and the food here rivals that of the West Coast. I had the beef Cube with rice noodles and the beef was tender, the sauce was a perfect mix of salt and sweet. After ordering food, it took about 20 minutes for them to bring my drink out, which i believe they had made and then forgot about since most of the ice was melted when they brought it out to me, leading to the drink being very bland and watered down. It took a good while for food to come out as well, even though there were only 3 tables occupied in the restaurant. After receiving and tasting the food, i noticed that most of the bowl of pho was just the broth and noodles.
