    # 12 - Vegetarian Sandwich
    Shannon D.

Spotted Lee's Sandwiches while driving down the street! My daughter just tried one of the Los Angeles locations last weekend and said we had to stop! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a smaller spot and filled with foods.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She ordered the #12 - Veggie Sandwich. I wanted to try their coffee (a friend swears it's the best). She recommended the Cafe Sua Da (Vietnamese Iced Coffee). When I ordered the lady at the counter asked "strong or not strong?" I showed her the text of which one I wanted. She said, "oh, the strong one!" A few minutes later I got my drink. They use the small ice (my favorite). The coffee was super super sweet! Too sweet! I don't think she thought I could handle the strong. I took it home and added milk to try to balance out the sweetness. Bummed. My daughter loved her sandwich though.

If you haven't tried Vietnamese coffee before, expect a strong flavor and a lot of ice. I really liked it! The lady at the counter was also friendly and fast.

Came to get a sinh tô đầu because I was craving my childhood drink! Tasted exactly how I remembered, made w/ condensed milk. The only thing was I had asked for pearls (which I hope everyone can agree translates to honey boba) to which they gave me crystal boba. The bottom of my cup was clear so it was obvious that it was crystal boba and not black honey boba. I kindly told them I ordered pearls as in honey boba. The workers talked to each other, went to the back kitchen, and came out with my corrected drink. They ended up keeping the crystal boba and mixing it with honey boba syrup and putting it back in my drink? LOL I rather them be honest with me and tell me they ran out of honey boba in the first place. I thought this experience was a little crazy and funny even but I still enjoyed the smoothie itself!

Went here for a quick coffee fix and a light snack. We ordered a Vietnamese ice coffee, ice mocha, 2 chicken egg rolls, shrimp spring rolls w/peanut sauce, & a pork banh bao. The drinks were strong and the appetizer were delicious. We wished they had fish sauce but it was still yummy. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

Prices have gone up significantly. Detailed breakdown below: **Price & portion, 4/5** Prices have basically doubled since I first started coming here, but the quality has stayed about the same. Still a solid place to come for some classic Vietnamese food and snacks. **Presentation of the food, 5/5** Super colorful and love how all the options are laid out. **Taste of the food, 4/5** - Banh chung, 4/5: I recommend taking this home, slicing it up, and pan frying to get it crispy on the outside! Put it in the fridge as soon as you get home if you don't eat it right away though, because it won't last long at room temp. - Coconut jelly, 5/5: Solid dessert! A go to for me when I come here. - #1 cold cut combo sandwich, 4/5: Wish they added cucumber to the veggies here like some other banh mi places. Otherwise pretty solid. **Other notes** Parking is a total nightmare in this plaza -- crowded and dirty. Park in the plaza nextdoor and walk over.

Lee Sandwiches No ac. Hot. Your average Vietnamese sandwich shop. We came here because this was sister's place for sandwiches. After eating... not bad. Pretty good. I'm told this place has been around for years. Worth another trip. Will try other sandwiches next time. OMG, I did not know I came across a major restaurant chain. Wow. They have over 10 restaurants all over. Incredible. When you have that many restaurants, it's hard to make every restaurant special and unique. The owner should take better action to make sure everyone is working to achieve greatness. Highly recommended

Always enjoy eating a Lee sandwich. The bread is freshly baked in store, it's soft and fluffy inside and has a nice outer crunch. I could eat the bread all by itself just because its so good. Well today we walked away feeling disappointed and a bit frustrated. Asked about the smoothies and were told they are made with fruit and syrup. I felt I was brushed off because the employee was more focused on a private conversation with another person. Tried a couple of times to get an order in but I was invisible, so it seamed. Finally decided to leave as employee walked away and left me talking to myself, ugg.

So word on the street is if you are in San Jose you have to have a sandwich from this place. So of course it was on my list to try. The chicken sandwich is to die for. It's pretty large so if you aren't hungry and there are two of you I suggest splitting it. While I had chicken there is pork and I think beef too. You can request extra meat. It doesn't look like much on the outside but it is actually some goodness inside.

Definitely larger portions and super affordable. We picked up the items 30 mins before our party started, and they were still fresh and crispy throughout the whole night! I was expecting the banh khot to get soggy/be soggy but it held up very nicely. I love the way they packaged everything and would 100% recommend for those who need easy finger food for their parties. Also ordering from them was very easy. I did it online a week in advance and they texted me at exactly 530p to let me know it was ready for pickup. If you are looking for an authentic Vietnamese meal outside of your traditional pho and banh mi,…read morelook no further! You have to check out Banh Cuon Bun Moc Ong Ta. A local friend from San Jose took me here as it's the only place his family ,(originally from Vietnam) will go out to eat. After trying their Bun Moc I see why? The rice roll (noodle) was thin and delicate. Doused in fish sauce and chili paste to taste, this dish hits all the notes. Sweet, spicy, sour, acid, bitter and umami! This sampler plate has 4 different type of Vietnamese sausage including my new favorite with cinnamon! Two types of stuffing inside the rice rolls ,(pork and seafood) and is served with a fried spring roll and a taro and potato pancake. It's a humble looking eatery packed with locals speaking in Vietnamese so you know it is good. Seems to be a family restaurant too! Ambience is not pretentious, family friendly and Just offers solid great Vietnamese flavors al around. I know I'll be coming back

Between Saigon and Hanoi, I went on a full-blown bánh cuốn quest, trying different spots almost daily. Street stalls, little hole-in-the-wall shops, famous spots--you name it. At some point I stopped being a tourist and became a rice-roll inspector. So yeah... my standards are unfortunately very high now. The best bánh cuốn I had in Vietnam was paper thin and almost translucent, with this delicate chew that somehow breaks apart and melts in your mouth. That's the texture I'm chasing. Coming back here, the rice sheets were noticeably thicker and didn't have that same delicate texture. They also weren't as fresh and warm as I remembered, which makes a huge difference with bánh cuốn. This is one of those dishes that's at its best when the sheets are freshly steamed and hit your table warm. The meat filling was also underwhelming and not nearly as flavorful or savory as another bánh cuốn spot I've had in San Jose. With a dish this simple, there's nowhere to hide--the rice sheet, filling, freshness and nước mám chấm (fish sauce) all have to work together. It's certainly not bad, and I can understand why people enjoy it. But after eating my way through Saigon and Hanoi in pursuit of the perfect bánh cuốn, this one is kinda meh for me now. My old review gave this place 4 stars. Vietnam ruined me.

We've probably eaten here 50+ times with family and friends, and one thing I can say is that they are 100% consistent. We've never had a bad meal here. There's a great variety of Vietnamese dishes, so everyone can usually find something they like. The chả cá (fish) is one of their popular dishes and a favorite. They also have good chicken phở, broken rice, vermicelli noodles, spring rolls, roll-your-own options, and plenty of soups beyond phở. You can order individual dishes or share family-style, which makes it especially easy when coming with a group. It's very casual, family-friendly, quick, and straightforward--nothing fancy and probably not where I'd choose for a date night. But for a dependable meal with family or friends, it's a great spot. Kids like it, parents like it, and my mom likes it--which says a lot coming from an older Vietnamese person who knows her Vietnamese food! The staff is always efficient and nice, and after all these years, the food remains consistently good. The biggest downside is parking. The entire shopping center has become so busy with restaurants that finding a spot can be overwhelming, especially during peak hours. Also, keep in mind they do not take credit cards. Bring cash, or you can pay electronically through options such as Zelle/Venmo. Overall, this is one of those longtime neighborhood restaurants we keep coming back to because we know exactly what we're going to get: good Vietnamese food, plenty of choices, friendly service, and consistency.

I didn't quite enjoy the Hu Tieu, but my friend liked the soup! It's a little too plain for me. I do love the feeling and texture of eating thick, round rice noodles.
