The bread was crunchy and soft and the beef was marinated nicely. It's a really big sandwich that can be shared. I also got a side of crab wontons. I already want to go back and try their other food! A giant Banh Mi sandwich with fresh crunchy radishes, cucumber, cilantro and jalapeños with perfectly flavored lemongrass pork, the combo vermicelli combo with pork, beef and shrimp and 1.50 for a drink and 2 wontons. Not only was every bite as good as the first (seriously) the value is incredible! These two items served four of us! We debated taking another sandwich to go, but just decided we'll come back in a week or so. You guys hit the nail in the head. Very satisfied with my first impressions of Bahn Mi station! I placed a pickup order of their Lemongrass grilled pork Bahn Mi, and the kind lady over the phone asked if I'd like to upgrade to a combo of either soda and an egg roll for $2, or iced coffee/Tea and an egg roll for only $3.50. I chose the iced coffee combo and was not disappointed. First I tried the Vietnamese iced coffee. It boasted a dark, rich, flavorful profile and was the perfect color for my liking! The Bahn mi was heavenly!!! A generous amount of meat and an even amount of fresh, crisp vegetables along side of it! The bread was soft, light and airy in the middle, with the perfect amount of thin, crisp crust along the exterior. The meat was seasoned incredibly and all of the flavors blended perfectly with each bite. The combo also came with a vegetable egg roll, which I'm typically not a fan of...until today! It was lightly fried to perfection, crispy and delicious. You could tell by the appearance, flavor profile and textures that everything was prepared fresh, with fresh ingredients! I have been craving for an authentic Banh Mi for the past week and heard so many people rave about this place! It is located right by DU and has a small little parking lot which makes life so much easier. Prices are decent, you can get a drink with some cheese wontons (2) for an extra 1.50 or 3.50 depending on what you want as a drink. Staff and owners are super friendly! You can order food to be eaten there or to be taken home. They have some tables set for your comfort. Although they are named Banh Mi Station, they offered a variety of delicious Vietnamese meals including Banh Mi, Vermicelli dishes and rice bowl. I ended up trying their House Special Cold Cut Banh Mi and the Lemongrass Pork Vermicelli. The Banh Mi was good, I loved the pickled carrots and radish and the pork sausage (cha lua) that came with it. Overall, it tasted like a banh mi but it was missing some of my favorite components of an Banh Mi which is the pate and buttery-tasting mayo which honestly would have easily bumped this place to my top 10.
